    • LUCK :: Is It Worth It...
    _____
    Is Luck the best attribute...or the worst?
    Does Luck affect everything in the game....or nothing at all?
    Really it comes down to how efficient and proportionately powerful you what your character to be. I mean you can always lower the difficulty slider and do whatever you want!

    You can tag luck as an attribute at the start of the game for a bonus of 5 and then also pick the thief as your birth sign for and additional 10. Then you would only need to reach level 36 for 100 luck. If you have the Knights of the 9 DLC you could also get another 5 to any attribute you choose from the blessings conveyed by the tombs in the chapel. Therefore you only actually need to reach level 31 for maximum luck.

    Another thing to note is that if you have 100 in armorer your smithing hammers never break, and fortifying the skill to 100 counts. Not to mention a fortify armorer spell is really cheap if it only needs to last for the second it will take to open up the item menu. So luck doesn’t help much there either.

    i hope tes 6 reintroduces attributes, including luck, back into the game. just instead of oblivion and morrowinds system where skills interact with attributes, just have an option when you level up to select which attributes to boost by a flat amount sorta like skyrim has it. then you could have those attributes play a role in which perks you can select, like for instance, any perk that affects critical strikes or sneak criticals could require a certain amount of luck.

    • @NerdyGamerGal

      That would be amazing and I think Fallout did that pretty well... especially having Luck be much more effective. I would love to see them take it back to more old school rpg mechanics so we can create more elaborate builds!

    I know im suuuper late but you can make a perfect imperial by making your class specialization magic, then pick endurance and luck as your favored attributes, and make every major skill the ones governed by magic, then choose thief sign and do some +5+5+1 leveling for Endurance-Strength-Agility-Int, those are all at 40 at the start and they'll be 100 by level 25 and luck will be at 89, from there you just gotta level willpower every level and switch between speed and personality, luck will be 100 by level 36, for 37 you do a +5+5+5, and for 38 you do a +5+5+1, 1 for whichever attribute is higher than the other 2, and 39 you do +5+5+4, 4 for the one you just gave 1, and at 39 they're each at 95 and you can probably guess what to do next. you'll get that ''you cant improve perfection'' message everytime you sleep but yeah, perfection at level 40, which is a bit challenging but not as bad as some level 50+ characters.
    I never tried but maybe its possible to do alllllllllll of that and get every skill to 100 and just, not level up, once everything is set you just play through normally and level up once you get good enough equipment/spells for your next level, or will all those points just be wasted? it would take me like 30 minutes to find this out but, eh.

      I couldn't bring myself to invest in Luck too much because there's no bonuses. From what I can tell, they just didn't give it much weight in the game. I love Fallout, because it does so much and really changes gameplay for me!

      I know this is old, but with very high luck, traps seem to mostly always fail on your character. I have a speed and luck based character who kills by using conjuration and then simply running away. Its amazing how many enemies die in weird accidents and how easy it is to dodge with both high speed and luck. Its a female altmer which is the fastest because of how character scaling works and since female altmer have the same height and higher starting speed stat than males.
      Also betting in the arena is a great way to make a few hundred early game when you need a quick bit of gold and dont want to use glitches. I won all 12 of 12 bets in a row betting on blue to win every single time with just 67 luck. Was a quick 1200 gold and i just trained other stats like restoration and acrobatics while the fights finished. I noticed that about half the time the enemy doesnt even have a weapon, but the team i bet on will ALWAYS have a weapon.

    I like to sprawl when I hit the sweet spot on levelling. Twenty-five you say, sure. I'd still make improvements to that through enchanting. An invincible adventurer dungeon crawls with abandon. Luck can be a good skill, but it can't be part of your normal skill set. Truly, the best skills push health magica, and fatigue to the limits. Plus, you can achieve a higher carry weight, just on strength endurance and willpower.

    Something to note regarding the Mehrunes Razor. It is technically true that increasing Luck from 50 to 100 increases the instakill chance by "only 2.5%". But a more helpful way to put it is that it *doubles* the instakill chance (2.5% to 5.0%), which is what's actually important.
    Still, Luck sucks either way.

    Making sure you always have plus five to attribute when leveling technically makes you more powerful when you reach level 35 which is around the spawning cap for NPC enemies and is the cat for leveled weapons. However if you level with plus ones to attributes every time you will achieve a grand total of more levels around 150. This makes you base stronger then every enemy you will encounter and gives you a huge well of health assuming you got endurance to 100 first. They're exploits to achieve this within the first few minutes of the game

    • @jerryjorel
      @jerryjorel 3 місяці тому

      Choosing a smaller bonus won't give you more levels. Your main skills will still reach 100 at the same time as you must raise your main skills by 10 to level up.

    • @zapbloodfist
      @zapbloodfist 3 місяці тому

      @@jerryjorel no there's a glitch that allows you to level up your character level independent of the level of your skills. By cheesing the level up screen and the save load mechanics at the same time you can achieve hundreds of levels in a matter of minutes independent of your skills. This raises your character to approximately level 150 with your skills at base. Unlocking the higher level tears of items available in the game without having to progress through the story so that you can get the best rewards on every mission. It balances because even though your character's skills will be low and you'll have junk weapons you'll have a ungodly health pool

    Most people who play Elder Scrolls usually go for a magic build as Magic is fun, diverse and has a lot of nuance but also just straight up delivers damage very quickly. Look at Elder Scrolls Online and I fear for the Deforestation of Tamriel when I see all the Staves strapped to the backs of people dressed as glowing pumpkins riding Lions.
    In Oblivion, I don't go for magic outside of Heal, Light and speech magics and play as a knight. With the Battlethorn Castle Addon it's neat to play as a Colovian Noble, but I only really Tag two skills at Level up. Strength and Endurance. Damage and Health with the third sunk into Luck. Speed and acrobatics can usually be boosted by gear. But Luck, in my experience DOES affect loot drops. So I go in a cave at around level 10 and I have bad guys just gift me Enchanted Loot that boost speed, or grant feather etc. The Arena is not an efficient way to get coin, but it's sure as heck immersive and more profitable with higher luck. Luther Broads is making a killing from Baurus as he waits for me to finish gambling.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  2 роки тому +1

      I've heard that you can just use a luck spell or potions before new area for loot but that could be a hassle and possibly missing out on something good if you forget. I would love to compare high and low luck builds to see if I come across any consistent differences; I'm down with Luck being vague but if you're giving up 5 points in something else I'd hope to see a notable difference

    Does this attribute affects the critical rate chance as Pacific the casual gamer says???
    I haven't read anything about this in none of the wiki pages, but I really want to know... as far as I know, at least this attribute didn't affect the Critical Damage (this one is only affected by the sneak skill, right?)

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  4 роки тому +3

      Unfortunately, Luck doesn't do as much as it does in other game like Fallout, or even as much as it was originally intended to I think. As far as I understand, there are technically no "critical hits" in Oblivion (as in extra bonus points based on chance, percentage, or a 20 sided die roll whether influenced by Luck or not), but there are damage multipliers including the Sneak and Power Attack Multipliers. Just "Note that only the SneakMultiplier value or the PowerAttackMultiplier will be applied in the final damage calculation. A sneaking power attack attack will not combine the damage multipliers." -uesp wiki

    Does luck affect archery critical hits? Can criticals even be done without sneaking also can luck help knocking down people with archery? And does it affect ANY loot chance at all i find it frustrating theres no concrete answer.

    • @NerdyGamerGal
      @NerdyGamerGal  5 років тому

      It's supposed to affect loot but it doesn't seem to change anything. Loot will get better the higher combat level you are anyway (capping at 30 for items with leveled effects). Targetting the leveled items and moneymaking later in game makes this unnecessary. Luck affects random criticals in Fallout but this isn't applied in Elder Scrolls. I think criticals or bonuses are solely dependant on sneak. Knockdowns are automatically earned when you become an Expert marksman at level 75.
      Unfortunately, Luck just isn't given a lot of weight in the game which makes it a bit unbalanced. The good thing is you can just skip it and pour all of those points into others attributes.
