Hello, I hope you had a Merry Christmas! A while back, I replaced the water pump on my 190e. It was a longer job than I would've liked. There were 4 bolts that were holding the fan to the water pump. I thought they were Allen bolts, but was I wrong! I think they were torx. My Allen socket wrecked 2 or 3 of the bolt heads. Using a left hand drill bit and a chisel, I finally got the bolts out and the fan off. I bought 4 allen bolts with the same thread and length, but there was another problem, the head of the bolt stuck out too far, and may hit the fan. I took the bolts to a machine shop, where the machinist took some material off the rear of the bolt head where the threads are. He saved my ass. All because I didn't look close enough at the bolts in the first place... Thanks for the great video! Rob.
I have ML430 and was changing the drive belt and i seen the slack in my bearing and noisy idler so i ordered OE parts and a thermostat as well while in there, and do the cooler seals,at the same time...
I love the "since we're here" concept, no one likes to do the same job twice !

I'm glad you're a "gearhead" that's what they used to call us. Nice meeting you.

Some engines have coolers, some don’t. This one doesn’t
I'm only guessing but was that the serpentine belt , also when you spin the pulleys are they suppose to stop spinning , great video
My man why you upload at 1am. I have to catch a ferry at 7am lol
I assume gasket maker isn’t needed, correct? More of a preference?
You can put a thin layer of gasket maker around both sides of the gasket. Not too much though. This will for sure make it leak free forever
I just replaced the original water pump on my 98 m112 engine... At 311k miles
metal or paper gasket.??? which would you prefer to install.?
It depends on the job and part you’re changing
How or what did you use to install the crackshaft seal?
Small rubber mallet and tapped it all the way around, slowly
