This video is super handy right now actually! Thank you so much for once again making these videos, me and the rest of the Internet seriously owe you a debt! Last night I got home and shut off my CLK 55's heater just for 1 second to go by, and then *bam* a loud rattle similar to a bearing failing came on instantly. Shut the car off, looked around everywhere at night and couldn't find the problem. Going to go out once it warms up a little bit more and see if I can find any leakage. It was 10F degrees last night though so it was a cold one. It didn't overheat at all or spray coolant everywhere yet but then again, it was at idle right when I got home when it failed. Really hoping that it's either the water pump or a pulley because everything is showing signs there. That and 192k on that original water pump is kind of more than what was asked of it. Radiator was replaced with a new one back in 2016 by Mercedes but it's a Valeo unit(That is getting tossed with the water pump). So fingers crossed that the impellers didn't grind away at my backplate if it is my water pump, it didn't have much time.
I think at times I’m recording it’s definitely like that but we’re both digging in off camera lol trust me. He is a far better mechanic than I truthfully but I’ve come along way from learning from him all these years.
@@ANDERZENAMG i Apologize, I love your show. My lower radiator hose clamp busted , I replaced it with aftermarket and it rubbed against a bolt. I wanted to see how your lower hosed worked out.
my 99 ml430 used the grooved water pump housing . i did my pump 3 years ago and it came with a metal one as well. for some reason mercedes used the flat surface on some m113s to use the metal or paperish gasket. my 04 clk500 i just did and that used the metal gasket (flat surface on block plate) . so you could use that gasket on the c55 , i bet it has the flat surface ..idk its a mercedes thing i guess
@@ANDERZENAMG thanks, I’ll grab an oem gasket, the aftermarket gasket doesn’t look as thick. Other than the torque spec, is there a configuration of 1st bolt to last?
@@josekierulf6241 yea I recommend the OEM. There probably is but we just installed them in somewhat of a star pattern. They are all going into aluminum so getting them tight should be sufficient.

So, my 99 ml430, wrecks belt, after close examination, water pump makes little noise, problem is that water pulley sticks out 1/4 inch or more. Belt comes off towards motor. Ever heard of this? How do I fix?

U spend toooo much time showing us where to buy parts and not one bit on how it was removed. Just voila, it's out. Waste of a "how to remove water pump!!!!!"
Thanx for the gasket clarification!!❤i freaked out lol

always great work
Great video. Love my ML55.
No, no its not.
I just did mine in m c300 was real easy
nice . Gotta do the g500 and the ml350 soon . both are nearing replacement
Nice, I have a feeling my C55 will be up soon too.. Is this typical mileage for these pumps in your experience?
@@ANDERZENAMG my w208 went out at 110k.
@@pulsiui4003 nice 👍 I figured this one had a long life!
@@ANDERZENAMG yeah same here. sure it was about 110k miles, but the pump was 20 years old. Something's gotta give.

Greatly appreciate it! Hope this was helpful 👍

@@cesartoledo5621 no apologies needed man!! All good. Mine seems to be holding up good, the transmission lines had to be bent out of the way a bit.
I got a s430 so I can use the rubber gasket r the paper gasket
Yea I believe all of the m113 m112 can use either?
@@ANDERZENAMG k thanks I’m going to try it in the morning because every time I put the water pump on the rubber gasket falls off
@@lancebraziel8703 you could use a little silicone grease to get it to hold temporarily too

@@lancebraziel8703 either one is fine, the bolt pattern for tightening is online or just do a star pattern evenly

Thank you for the insight! I have both options on hand for when the C55’s turn comes up! 🤙
Do you still have the block heater? I'd be interested
yea, I might have it laying around, I'll check.
So you used the rubber Mercedes gasket? Did you apply any sealer to hold the gasket in place? I’m doing a similar job now.
Just rubber gasket, it holds in place fine so no sealant. Holding up well 3k miles since.

Hi.
What's the normal operating temperature ?
My after radiator change up with 4-5 °C at before and now go to 93-95°C.
When cruising it is around 90c all the time. When it gets hot outside and idling about 93-95c
There is a drain petcock on the radiator.
I did not see one on the ML55
@@ANDERZENAMG passenger front corner. It’s hidden , opposite side of the lower hose nipple. I found it by accident.

Interesting… not too sure but if the water pump hasn’t been done, it could be failing and the pulley could be out of alignment

My Ml55 overheated due to a failed auxiliary pump
Yea that’s a common failure point, there is an alternative aux pump you can use btw designated for Audi that works on the m113.
I can’t figure out my bolt pattern I need help can anyone help me please.
Bolt pattern for what?
@@ANDERZENAMG I’m sure they are talking about the different sizes (lengths) around the pump
You could’ve shown that in the video when you had them in the cardboard
