I think you should taken the opportunity to educate the guy on your extreme left who kept snagging your buddy. I believe he just was ignorant about how to cast when people are that close to one another.

That's what I believe happened I heard a splash and looked then saw the macks rush. That's why I asked if fish are on top or was that someone's fish
