Sir, I am the original owner of a 2000 f250 7.3, 4x4, zf6. 240,000 miles. The rpm backlight went out recently, and i remembered your video from a few years ago. Then this one popped up, i subscribe to your channel. Will be doing this this afternoon. Live in Washington and drive in the dark to and from work most of the time. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Joe.. you are spot on with the LED conversion. I tried changing all of the lights and fought the ghosting issue. I then installed all new incandescent bulbs for the indicators and used white LED’s for the illumination…. Best combination for sure! Really appreciate your videos…look forward to more content on this Powerstroke.
Been watching you for a while, glad you're back to the 7.3 platform. I need to do this to the lights in my excursion, but still putting it off :-) *** There is a sequence to remove the headlight assembly from the front. I thought it was Bull. Even my Chinese Amazon replacement switch did it. Turn the headlights on, pull dial out slightly and pry it off. Flip it upside down then put back on, twist to release whole assembly from front.
That is Sweeeeeeeeet Joe, very bright! It even brightened up the mileage and trip. Now I can do mine getting tired of the dim lights. Thanks for sharing 👍
Nice work looks great! I actually have two of these trucks that I need to do this too. 2002 F250 and a 2003 F350 dually. Both with 7.3’s of course ! 😁 Thanks for the detailed video! Keep them coming. 👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent video! My '01 Excursion dash lights are almost all shot. Other videos I saw had the OEM audio head so seeing an aftermarket head unit removal was very helpful. Thanks
@@LivingOnWheels I’ll order from your links. Happy to support! I’m still trying to diagnose my 7.3 shuddering and stalling. Have changed all the sensors. Waiting for you to do a pigtail replacement video

NICE VIDEO.....I DID MY DASH LIGHTS WHEN YOU POSTED YOUR ORIGINAL VIDEO.....AND I DISCOVERED THAT THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD LOOK LIKE THEY WERE ON AT NIGHT WHEN THEY WERE ACTUALLY OFF.....(I WENT BACK IN AND REMOVED THEM).....IT IS GREAT THAT YOU MENTIONED THAT ISSUE IN THIS VIDEO.....I DID LEAVE THE L.E.D. BULBS THAT I USED.....FIT THE 194 AND THE #37 SOCKETS.....SO I ONLY HAD TO BUY ONE TYPE OF L.E.D. BULBS.....KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.....
Just picked up a 2001 350 and going to do this swap. I’ve had several Fords and seems like the incandescent bulbs get kind of shadowy after a while. Your dash looked nice and even with the LEDs. Thanks for the video.
Happy to see you back in another 7.3! i have 1/2 of my dash lights and heater control lights out, was going to tackle this project this very weekend, so happy to see this pop up in my YT queue! I followed your previous build and while I didn't do everything you did, it was helpful to see your techniques and processes. Glad to see you back, yes, 2x I said it, anxious to see what you have planned. I have a 2003 F250 CC 4wd, I added lighted vanities visors, Gentex rearview mirror with HomeLink and auto dimmer, and a power sliding rear window (not an option for 2003). Keep the videos coming!
Great tutorial! I did this on my Ranger using Lasfit LED’s, I didn’t replace the indicator ones with them though. Just replaced them with incandescent bulbs like they originally had.
Thanks Joe! I did buy the LED lights from your other video and going to install all of them. Life got busy & the truck (‘05 F350 6.0) went into the shop for head gasket. Also, my environmental switch lights are out so watching to the end of the video was great. Btw, I always do!
I did mine a couple years ago. But I didn't think to do that center part. I guess I have to tear it apart again. But it is a huge upgrade to do this. There is actual color now to the whole dash. Unrelated but nice to do is swap out the center seat/armrest. It was splitting apart. Found a solid plastic replacement part on EBay. Much better.
Very nice tutorial on exchanging the dash lights. I have the "walnut burl" dash I'm worried it may be prone to cracking when pried. It is obvious you prep and plan your videos with care.

My check engine light bulb is burned out. I am doing the LED upgrade as you did in this video. For the Check Engine bulb should I install an LED bulb? Is it ok to replace this one with LED and leave the rest or do you have to keep all of these with the same style bulb?? I watched a video a while back and I think someone said to keep all the same style or could be a problem...??? Good video, thanks. You repeated video from the 4:08-4:20 mark by the way.
I would recommend keeping all the indicator bulbs as halogen and just using LEDs in the illumination slots. You can try swapping it but it might run the risk a being slightly illuminated with the other bulbs. I can’t say for sure. Maybe take the #37 bulb from that one illumination spot and replace your check engine light with it. And thank you I must’ve missed that in editing.

Yeah, these things are fetching a pretty penny right now. Especially if you’re looking for a crew cab. Some of the prices are just insane.

Is there a bulb in the light switch?
I think the switch illumination is soldered in place but I’m not 100% positive
Looks good.
Is there any bulbs in the headlight switch that can be changed as well?
I’m not sure. I don’t recall ever seeing a bulb socket. I think it’s something soldered in there.
Are the indicator bulbs a 37? I only ask because I’d probably want to replace them with regular bulbs along with the LED’s like you did on this video.
To the best of my knowledge they are

How has the lighting been working out so far?
Working flawlessly 👍🏻
What LEDS did you use and where can I get them?
They should be linked in the video description
Did mines with cheap leds after 3 months of working great now they’re all flickering and driving me nuts
That’s annoying. We’ll see how these ones last but I think they should be good.
Is the bulb for the headlight switch replaceable or soldered in place?
I’m not sure on that one. I’m guessing soldered in place since I can think of ever seeing a bulb holder on it.
Not sure if it matters but do the LED bulbs create more or less heat ?
I’m not positive I would think less because they need less electricity.
I got me one of them 303 patches. What unit were you?
They’re actually patches from my brother. His squadron is based out of Pendleton

You can but like I said, it won’t look very good because of the film.
