So here’s my question installed my double din n my 04 f350 and with it all color matched no power hooked my yellow with red to get power but now I don’t have memory do I need to buy a new harness adapter for the factory harness? Mine was a older one I had laying around
I had a stereo installer change out my radio/cd player, but the system also had a 6 disc changer in the console. All the connectivity wiring between changer and radio was left in place but I decided I wanted to remove it. WOW what a job, all of the connective cabling was run under the carpet from under the dash to console, and the cable under the dash was all taped up with other wiring. After considering my options I just reinstalled the dash panel and decided to leave everything as is. I now have a factory radio and a perfectly good changer with no way to connect them together. Alas and alack...
One thing to note is that, once you uninstall the factory Double-DIN radio, you CAN'T reinstall it if you install an aftermarket Double-DIN head unit, because you have to modify the radio opening. If you need to reinstall the factory Double-DIN radio, you'll want to go with a an aftermarket Single-DIN head unit. Just FYI. :)
Oh man, I'm about to do this job in my 2002 and have been dreading it. Watched a few other vids, but hands down, this is THEE best video on this procedure for this truck. I got this. Thank you!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! My new touchscreen radio was sitting in the box for weeks until I watched this. I couldn't figure out how to modify my original 2006 escape stereo frame to fit. Saw references to "modifying the dash" but this is the first I found that shows what the modification is and how to do it. Just finished install and excited to use my car sound system again with the added bonus of a rear camera. Thank you!
Chris, thank you for take the time to teach us DIY’s. I installed as per your instructions and everything is working perfectly but the mic. I installed 2 Sony XAVAX150 (F250 and F150) both mic doesn’t work. Sony support has been inexistente. When I receive or make calls, I can hear them but they can’t hear me. The mics is in the right spot but I can’t make it to work. Any idea? Thank you again Chris. Robson - Charlotte, NC
I just installed one yesterday and left my mic from previous stereo that worked off a boss single don pop out 10 inch CarPlay unit i ended up hating too bright and took space of my cup area with a song xav 150 aswell sounds way better already ordered the USB flush Mount but when i recieved two phone calls nobody could hear me k didn’t test that out before i installed the dash I’ll have the install the mic that came in the box see if that works I’ll update best regards Winston Salem, NC
Great video, watched to install stereo 2 years ago, but my Alpine iLX-W650 just quit putting out sound.. Needed to remove, however as video points out, can’t remove without tearing apart dash, which I didn’t want to do.. Figured I’d sacrifice the Metra installation kit.. Cut w/ exact o-knife vertically next to radio on both sides, patiently and carefully as to not cut dash. Use screwdriver and work plastic back and forth. After removal of side piece, cut vertically again until plastic next to radio is severed, Isolating stereo from side tabs.. use putty knife and screwdriver to work radio out. I’ll need to get new installation kit and a new radio, definitely not the Alpine again.
Great Video. I am ready to do this in my 02 Excursion now. Is this radio model up to date? What would you go with today? I tend to go with cheap no name Ebay/Amazon types on my cheaper cars since I would rather have than have not. On this vehicle, I want something more reliable with good instructions and support. I stopped being an audiophile years ago but want to make sure that whatever I am putting in there has an easy to grab volume button, supports Waze and UA-cam Music, and all other Android apps to include the Play Store itself. I also need to ensure that it can connect via wifi tethering to my Android phone's unlimited Hotspot. I have a smart mirror in one of my other vehicles that does all of this but want to be able to do this on my new radio. I hear buzzwords like Android Auto but not sure how that works and if it is more limited than my smart mirror. Do you know of a solid name brand radio that can do all of this without hassle? Not sure if my ask is too much. Thanks!
This is a great video. Thank you. For the 2003 Ford F-350 King Ranch, the dash looks identical to your install. The radio you have installed is now discontinued. Sony now sells the Double Din XAV- AX3200 7.0" (compared to your 6.95) With the same install kits you identified, will this radio work?
I see this radio is discontinued. Although Best Buy still has them. Do you know the differences on the newer higher model numbers? They are double the price at least. Do they have voice activated? Thanks
My original radio unit has 2 plugs going into the unit plus the antenna what do I do with the extra plug? Mine is an Excursion if that changes anything.
I've encountered the same, just picked up a '00 excursion and the rear speakers aren't playing sound... everything is hooked up until I noticed the 2nd harness tucked away. Did you figure this out or do you have the same issue I do?

I have a question. I had a subwoofer installed with a factory stereo. I’m assuming an LOC was used. If I want to install an aftermarket would I need to take the LOC out or could I keep it in?
Hello Provo, Can I use the radio found in you best budget one ua-cam.com/video/VVaDleioOQc/v-deo.html and follow all the same step to install it with the back up camera as in this video? Also will all the parts listed in the description that you used work for this budget radio?
Parts used linked in the description of the video!

Hi.. amazing video.. very helpful..
But i have a question.. did you connected GREEN PARKING WIRE to BLACK WIRE??

The radio you have installed is now discontinued. Sony now sells the Double Din XAV- AX3200 7.0" (compared to your 6.95)
With the same install kits you identified, will this radio work?
Did you end up buying the XAV-AX3200? Did it work with the same install kits shown in the video?
How about microphone for hands free? Any tips for installation of it?
I see this radio is discontinued. Although Best Buy still has them. Do you know the differences on the newer higher model numbers? They are double the price at least. Do they have voice activated? Thanks
I was shoving the keys in too far. Thank you.
There has to be a different kind of dash bezzel. I want a flush look not an indent in the dash and have the volume now butted up next to the side.
Works great. Pain trimming the dash but got it installed and sounds great. Thank you again for your video.
Going to attempt this on my 2002 F250 kinda nervous because I tried to install on in my 09’ Sierra and couldn’t get it to work
Did it wole
Worl
Awesome video, this was exactly what i needed. Thank you!
How do you remove the radio with the mounting system you used. I heard it click in when you pushed it in.
It doesn't look like the top needed to be trimmed much if any at all.
Hello! What do you do with the wires going to the cigarette lighter that you replaced with the USB?
My original radio unit has 2 plugs going into the unit plus the antenna what do I do with the extra plug? Mine is an Excursion if that changes anything.
I've encountered the same, just picked up a '00 excursion and the rear speakers aren't playing sound... everything is hooked up until I noticed the 2nd harness tucked away. Did you figure this out or do you have the same issue I do?
The escape that is the same procedure doesn't have a Bluetooth for hans free phone. Are you able to do this accessory install?
Excellent video!! Ty
I can't find your older video. This kit will not line up with the holes on my cheap double din I want to use.
That’s the issue with no name double din brands, you may need to make your own holes in the dash kit brackets.
Just installed one but it won’t turn on once I tried to turn on the audio. Now it all blank and black just matched all colored wires to each other.
So here’s my question installed my double din n my 04 f350 and with it all color matched no power hooked my yellow with red to get power but now I don’t have memory do I need to buy a new harness adapter for the factory harness? Mine was a older one I had laying around
Yellow is constant power for memory. Red is accessory/ignition
Yellow is constant power for memory. Red is accessory/ignition
So I pressed outward on the pins using the right tool and it just shattered the plastic on my radio
Can I upgrade to a digital antenna while I’m doing this? Is there an adapter needed for this?
ok so i already have an aftermarket radio but the screen broke and im going to replace it soon. do you think ill still need to get a new wiring harness or should the one thats in it be plug and play?
Hi I saw u wired in a blue and whit wire is that for the stock Amp and if so how do u run it into the factory harness?
Great video. Can you tell me what the orange wire is for? My radio plug doesn't have an orange wire. It is a different radio (cheap walmart one). ( Not the orange antenna wire)
Generally orange on the harness adapter side is illumination or dimmer. On the radio side, it can vary based on the manufacture.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I am sorry, if i would have just read the package.lol and yep that is what it is.
Does this work for a ford 2000 f150
I have a question. I had a subwoofer installed with a factory stereo. I’m assuming an LOC was used. If I want to install an aftermarket would I need to take the LOC out or could I keep it in?
I would remove it and directly connect your RCA cables to the output of the new radio. This provides more control over the signal output to that amp.
I trimmed the dash like you did in the vid but my radio still wont fit
You may not have a standard sized double din.
Can you putt the 2 dash screws back with the new radio?
Nope, they would be in the way of the new radio.
Do the volume controls on the steering wheel still work with the newly installed stereo?
This vehicle wasn’t equipped with any. If you want to retain yours, we have a great video on our channel to show you how to do so.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Can you link the video?
So the radio just sits in there? is it bolted to anything?
It snaps into the dash bezel with clips. It cannot be removed once it does so unless you remove the entire dash bezel.
@@ProvoBeastAudiodoes it have rear support?
Nice!!
They make solder splices fyi
How do I take it out once installed
Putty knife or pull the entire dash bezel off.

Parts used are universal to any double din linked below. Here is a great Sony: amzn.to/3QeoGCu
