@alisaaa each has different updates, different base models, bug fixes with hair editor. The older ones some cute base models exclusive to them. the newer beta versions don't have those but have unique ones in its place like a model with cat ears before there was an accessory edit in the official vroid release. So is implied that they were keeping in mind of adding cat ears or showing how its possible to fabricate some with the hair editor.
that was a big one for me too, but with how buggy the program is, I haven't been using it much yet lol for example, even just working on the same avatar, I've experienced multiple times where it suddenly won't let me type custom values in anymore and can only use the slider bar unless I close and reopen the app >_
*hyper-fixated on learning Vroid Studio the past 3 days, creates a model I'm actually pretty proud of*.... *Vroid Studio updates and changes all the things* ... y-you mean to tell me I just could have WAITED to make my life a lil bit easier for accessories?? *smol cri*
@@ArgamaWitch very new to all of this, missed the announcements b/c I was too excited to just jump in and play with the program lol ;-; I do really like most of the changes though!
I'm actually really excited for this because it takes a lot of stress off me having to make things like cat ears, glasses, ETC from hair which I already struggle with. I do like the presets as well. Gives a little more customization for those who prefer to stick with presets when they're starting out. I'm still currently poking around the program and getting a feel for where everything is but so far, I'm digging this update.
When you said "Fixed alot of non-issues but ignored real things" it really mirrored what I was thinking as I used it. The thing I needed most was the ability to put hair premades together... which didn't seem to happen. Being able to save premade PARTS in their respective catagories (Premade Ponytail into additions, for example) would change my entire enthusiasm for the update.
kinda feels like they fixed a lot of non-issues and didn't really touch a lot of the major stuff we asked for (aside from layering clothes). having preset ears and glasses is neat but it sorta defeats the purpose if we don't have tails, night mode is a good idea but not if it's not on the UI, etc. I'll probably still switch to it anyway since functionally it's not TOO different from beta vroid (and certainly not worse), though i think it'll take some getting used to and also this program still has a ways to go
This is what the mobile version looks like. I still prefer the old version, as you can create a truly original character, but also this is way much easier for beginners 😊 Thank you for the demo!
Being that minority who actually like the beta shading, I'm a bit shocked at the shading change in the stable version. I guess I'll still keep both version bcs I could definitely hit that customization feature but we'll see. Gonna return when I'm done remaking my model from scratch ;) Edit: it's definitely difficult adjusting it to my art style since I'm not used to the whole flat shading thing... so it's kind of a pain for me. But I can see how many would love this change. ;v; I think I'll stick to beta for now but who knows if I can get used to the change.
Oh my goodness, I love the fact that it looks more 2D. Just when I gave up on the vtuber idea haha. It was kinda weird to me, but was considering on using it for my insecurities. My goal was to be more comfortable with myself but is more challenging live. And I really wanted 2D but that was hard, so this new version is tempting me to explore it again. Definitely loved this app.
Well, I guess I should start my model again from scratch haha but my main gripe is that it's all white now, I hope there is a dark mode or something cause bright white like that is such an eyesore for me.
i am too used to more minimalistic beta version that relies more on you making your own textures, so the large amount of new stuff (like different presets for eyes, clothes, etc) is kinda overwhelming it took me like 5 minutes to find customize texture option (and i am not even talking about hair and clothes) it will definitely take some time to learn how to deal with this new version of vroid, but i really like all the new things they added (specifically accessories and ability to layer clothes) edit: Azure Konpeki 紺碧アズレ Ch said that the program is a lot more friendly for non artist people, this was something i noticed too i absolutely agree, it is better for non artists for artists on the other hand, not so much (i am speaking my personal opinion, other artists might have different opinions than me) i guess it would be too much to ask to make two versions of vroid, one with more presets, kinda more like sims type of customization, and another for artists, with no presets but with more intuitive ui for making your own ones
i do think the lack of presets in the first place was a pretty bad feature though, realistically a lot of people are going to struggle to make their own and mightn ot be able to afford it, so this means we see a lot more variety
As an artist, while it IS annoying to edit textures, once you get ahold on HOW to, it's fun- though tedious, like all texturing is. This tbh is a lifechanger for me.
My first, blind reaction to it was that it's neat it offers presets, including hairs that you can customize by adding pieces to it, but that it reminded of the Picrew character makers you found. And that we will be getting a flood of new Vroid model Vtubers that will look based on the presets here. I do like what they changed, though a part of me says why they changed!? But it's just a matter fo getting used to the new pieces in the interface, etc.
I'm happy that animal ears are finally added! I can see myself using pre made hairstyles as a base and edit from there. I wasn't very good with hair brush thing, so this will become handy to me.
you actually can import .vroid files now! if you save a model in the editor you'll get a .vroid file that you can open on the model selection menu. pretty sure this means we can finally share vroid models in an editable way now?!?! super cool!!!
@@ArgamaWitch Even with all the crazy options now, our brains will force us to memorize all the default combos right down to the iris shapes. And then we'll start to see carbon copies everywhere.
It's a pretty interesting direction; like you said it really looks like a great leg up for 'beginner' users and streamlines a lot more processes like more clothes, slightly easier hair, the cat ears sliders (and it was really cool to see it used to produce other ear shapes) but the navigation really does make it look like a toothache for power users. Hopefully they strike a balance.
It was a lot more stable for me, so it might be poorly optimized. I agree on the navigation even though once I learned how to get places it was kind of easier to do things that were a bit more complex. IE: having glasses have ACTUAL LENSES WHAT. Once unity tools catch up, it could be really nice. Also night mode for the UI please, I work in low light.
I'll tell you a little trick with the accessories, you know like how you can move them around, like Unity if you press W or R you can scale and rotate them too
Literally finished my first model two days(50H+) without knowing the 1.0 would come out. One part of me is happy with all the new features but the other really wants to slap herself lmao. Anyway thank you for your video!
The accessories I think are the best part of this update, those animal ears looked great. But definitely gonna be a bit of a learning curve from beta vroid for those who have it memorized at this point (like myself 🥲) and I think I’ll just stick with beta until a later version is out
how have i been dealing with 3D art and assets for so long and never heard of Vroid?! lol I guess i'm kind of on the lucky side just finding it now, i don't have to adjust from the beta version to the new.. thanks for the vid, loving it :D
I think I can work with the wonky menus for now. Something I’m personally upset about is that they removed a the select option in hair layers which helped me make ponytails that I wanted to have Seperate groups . I’m not sure if this is an actual feature or it’s just me because I haven’t used VRoid in a while but it was extremely useful. And I feel like there’s a sense of unaccomplishment now as someone who used VRoid beta for two years. It’s all so easy and still but I guess it takes some time to adjust to. And they got rid of the merging groups option
I took a good look at the new vroid studio too and honestly XD I was really confused at the layout at first XD but I got te hang of it really quickly, I like the fact you can edit base her and the accessories now, remember they did say in the future they would add more accessories, let's fingers cross they add capes soon ^^ that would be so cool
The new update is ok the glasses and cat ears are good but it's completely different From beta vroid witch I just gotten used to it is good but it could be beter
I'm glad VRoid released an update, because my current model was driving me crazy. So, with this release, maybe I can make a VRoid model that actually looks pretty good. I know I can do better than what I have.
I had started with the beta version a few months ago but hadn't tried committing until recently. When I learned about the stable release, I decided to wait. Seeing the comments of people who have the convert beta models and re-learn a whole new system, I'm glad I made that choice. I played around with the system just tonight and based on the short amount of time I played around in the beta version, I do see a big improvement. Still loads to go, but improvement is there. I think the generic look you commented on in one of your tutorials is something that's less noticeable now, for starters.
This comment was from 3 days ago and I'm not sure if you've already figured it out yet. But just in case... You have to add the hair preset to a beta model, then convert that beta model in the new version. Then open the model in the new version.
Thank you so much for this Argama! I got really hyped when I saw the update had come out and I'm so glad I watched this before downloading it! Not being able to add the blendshapes is a huge negative for me, so I'll be waiting till that's possible before installing v1. Without this video I probably wouldn't have known until going through the whole process of making/editing a model. You saved me a lot of frustration. Thanks for being so quick of the bat with this! Also thank you for all of your tutorials in general. I only started all of this about 2 months ago and I've learnt so much from you! Thank you.
I was giving this a try last night and i do like the fact that ponytails are now a add-on because i was having trouble doing hair on the beta now i hope the way to add horns and a tail is the same way like it was in the beta
Wow, what nice surprise in the end, I liked a lot! (What? You reading this may think. Watch and you will see~) Now about the update, well, almost all my friend are trying it out. Haha But I didn't like the unstablility of the STABLE version, but they make some really wanted additions, that's pretty cool, I'm really happy to move, rotate the hair grid all around, separete better each part of the hair now and mainly be able to exit the project without need to close the software! I will not ask again, but I wanted to know if you will make more tutorials with the changes? Like a "easier way" to do something that you already teached or a brand new one. Love your content, whatever you make. 💙
im gonna try it out but it looks good👍🏾👍🏾 fingers crossed for more optimization lol update: i love it🔥 missing some important stuff but i got faith it'll get better with time
It's cool and all, but why won't it include the eyebrow blendshapes anymore .. very confusing. Do you think you'll cover this or perhaps anyone has figured out how to fix this? :]
It's a nice improvement but I feel like I may just use the beta version more unless there's a specific reason like layering clothes or using the greater face detailing system. Also I really hope they make the dark mode like an actual dark mode, like actually changing the UI as well as the background. I don't like all the white lmao.
What I really want though is wings as part of the accessories instead of using the hair editor. You have no idea what i went through to try to get functional customized butterfly wings from vroid into VRchat correctly attached in blender and also fixed the leg crossing issue.
Good morning! Do you know how I can backup beta models? I have WIP for a friend I'd like to save just in case I have to side install beta to just finish it. [Edit] : Figured out I can download beta from top right dots, and keep editing my models there. Still no idea where they save, but hey. Also the Glasses (Thick) in 1.0 aren't paper thin- they seem to have paper and non-paper glasses for whatever you may need?
69 likes... NICE seriously though, good video, so it looks like they were a bit into the right direction and drifted off to another with how the menus are more confusing at soem points, I think I'll check it out at some point too
took a look at the stable version today! been using beta for a while and decided to try it out. it didn't take too long to figure out the layout though it did take a few minutes to really get it down. I haven't experienced too many bugs yet, though I haven't done many complicated things yet The preset hair parts were nice to play with and make different hair combos, though figuring out how to change the hair texture took a while and then I found the button XD Preset clothing is really neat. good for if you're too lazy to find something on BOOTH, texture your own clothing, or just want a simple outfit that looks decent. I LOVED the preset eye shines, really nice with some custom Iris' I got off of BOOTH. Preset iris were nice too. I haven't created any custom hair or items yet, so I can't comment on anything compared to the beta version lol Loved the glasses and ears, will save so much time and they're both pretty customizable. and I like how the glasses add a light white overlay so they look a bit realistic (I guess XD) (personal opinions here) Pros: - The thing I loved the MOST was the fact clothing comes in WAY more parts now, which makes it so much easier to add individual clothing pieces without editing the body texture and also makes it way easier to put the textures from one model to another. ex: i created a ring texture in the arm accessory category. and was able to take it form one model to another without taking any other accessory items with it - more clothing categories and features like: socks, underwear tops and bottoms being separate, arm accessories (good for rings, gloves, bracelets, etc etc) and clothing layering which makes creating 3D clothing and more complicated clothing MUCH easier. - face paint and makeup categories. goodbye are the days of having to agonizingly shove all our makeup and decals onto the face texture as now we just have to import the custom texture into the right category and it can be easily switched around without much struggle - new clothing. I like them and they'll definitely be really good as a base for custom clothing sometimes. - new animations/poses. better for testing model and model physics, and good for photos (personal favs are "stroll" and "determined" (stroll is like a more bouncy walk I guess lol. plus it looks nice)) - don't need to close the program to change models, which was annoying in the beta version - you can edit face presets IN THE PROGRAM! No need to go into unity to edit the blend shapes of the face for expressions! And teeth also export WITH the model if you do it right with the expressions (be aware of blinking teeth if you do it wrong though!) though if you want to add custom parts like tears to the expressions, you'll still have to use unity for that unfortunately Cons: - old texture issues. Due to the new models being a tiny bit different, their texture maps are a bit different. when trying to use a custom bra (NecorinSHOP on BOOTH) for my model, I noticed the straps were cut off, which I never saw in the beta. after looking at the textures in the program I noticed it's because of how the new texture maps are. they're lower than the original beta models so the bra got cut off awkwardly. since I didn't wanna go through the struggle of fixing it I just erased the straps which made me a bit sad :( - no dark mode. while i don't mind this, it will definitely get on some peoples nerves lol - textures are more annoying to modify sometimes - way more lag than the beta version - editing textures and exiting texture editing is more tedious than it was in beta, though I don't it too much Overall I think it's a good upgrade! though Beta models could run into issues so remember to have a backup of them if you decide to convert them! I'll definitely be using stable from now on
i like the new preset feature, but i enjoy making my own textures (even tho im not that good at it) and i think if you want to make your own original character for streams or videos or something, you would need something that would make you unique. but its just my preference and i have no right judge anyone. just sharing my opinion.
Nice vid again argama, Are the presets copyright free, can i sell something with my model wearing the presets? In the vroid demo movie there were guns, how do i get them?
I dont know if the presets are copyright free, with exception of glasses and animal ears (as they are more meshes) I couldn't sell a commission or a model with free presets. The demo was a movie. They added props. looked like VR chat. They were also more expressive and had better rendering. If you want guns, you have to make them
First off! I know said you said you wouldn't to do more tutorials but I do have a question regrading blendshapes if you'd like to answer. Would we have to downgrade again to add blendshapes? Just tried to copy blendshapes, via hanatool thru unity, onto the newer vroid models and the vertices don't match. Thanks if anyone gets around to answering this.
I used the beta version about a year ago and don't really remember it and I struggled a lot. I think this version is really good! I get the criticism though; I also struggled with menus and stuff. But I remade my OC and it looks MILES better! So I'm pretty happy with it. I find its best to start with the presets and edit them for what you want. Also it wasn't slow at all for me- no lag whatsoever but I have a pretty beefy computer so thats probably why.
I couldn't find the bones part, am i wrong or it just doesn't have bone editing in this?? Yes, it's so slow, also moving layers up/down SO TEDIUOS Can't wait for it a few more versions down the line, looks so much cleaner now and having options to click through is really convenient! Also couldn't figure out how to edit a texture of clothing it seemed to me a white mask kinda deal
I was wondering how you were adjusting this, i completely forgot there was an update even coming until i saw the logo change when i was updating minecraft
For somebody like me…. This is actually… awesome… I sucked at the beta version. All though, I can understand the frustration and or learn curve for beta users that had the old layout and stuff memorized. I’m actually excited to use this now! Hopefully having “help” customizing my first model, I can learn how to be more advanced with the program… I downloaded VRChat a few days ago on my oculus and now I can make a custom avi 🙈🙈
It wasn't so janky when I tried it, not sure what caused that. The only thing I had major issue with was I couldn't figure out how to DRAW hair strands? loved everything else though

I think the generic look you commented on in one of your tutorials is something that's less noticeable now, for starters.
How do we import already made hair? I'm struggling hard to figure that out.
Not sure. I havent tried to import presets. It may not be an option
This comment was from 3 days ago and I'm not sure if you've already figured it out yet. But just in case... You have to add the hair preset to a beta model, then convert that beta model in the new version. Then open the model in the new version.
This actually reminds me a lot of their mobile app but better :0
Thank you so much for this Argama! I got really hyped when I saw the update had come out and I'm so glad I watched this before downloading it! Not being able to add the blendshapes is a huge negative for me, so I'll be waiting till that's possible before installing v1. Without this video I probably wouldn't have known until going through the whole process of making/editing a model. You saved me a lot of frustration. Thanks for being so quick of the bat with this!
Also thank you for all of your tutorials in general. I only started all of this about 2 months ago and I've learnt so much from you! Thank you.
Seems interesting for sure
I was giving this a try last night and i do like the fact that ponytails are now a add-on because i was having trouble doing hair on the beta now i hope the way to add horns and a tail is the same way like it was in the beta
Bruh, i could have just waited, like for real 😭
the new version it's pretty good they still have some small problems but I think they are in the right path!
Finally customizing the character is more simplified
New version of VRoid is looking nice, but that dark mode ain't dark enough
hmm, they added cat ears but no tail option? I checked it earlier too.. yes, pretty confusing unless just using the prefab things...
I do kind of wish they just added layered clothes and ears without all the other stuff. Seems like a let down, was eagerly awaiting those features.
That's fair, this is definitely more friendly to ...uh...artistically challenged
Wow, what nice surprise in the end, I liked a lot!
(What? You reading this may think. Watch and you will see~)
Now about the update, well, almost all my friend are trying it out. Haha
But I didn't like the unstablility of the STABLE version, but they make some really wanted additions, that's pretty cool, I'm really happy to move, rotate the hair grid all around, separete better each part of the hair now and mainly be able to exit the project without need to close the software!
I will not ask again, but I wanted to know if you will make more tutorials with the changes? Like a "easier way" to do something that you already teached or a brand new one.
Love your content, whatever you make. 💙
If I do another tutorial I may just do a How to use this program. But if I do it wont be until I get a chance to mess with it more.
I got use to it in and had to remake my vroid....but now I have no idea how to pose my vroid anymore its crazy.
Great video Argama I am going to have to check this out sometime.
THAT OLD ONE WAS BETA!? I REINSTALLED VROID STUDIO YESTERDAY AND I WAS SO SUPRISED
I Checked this after the update definitely more stuff you can do now. Especially with the clothing.
im gonna try it out but it looks good👍🏾👍🏾 fingers crossed for more optimization lol
update: i love it🔥 missing some important stuff but i got faith it'll get better with time
It's cool and all, but why won't it include the eyebrow blendshapes anymore .. very confusing.
I don't like all the white lmao.
welp... i'll be opening the program later today to experiment with it. but i can already see it has some pretty promessing new freatures.
Its looking good to me. Thanks for the video. I am still watching, but wanted to know if had to pay for this version?
Nope
This looks so much easier to use maybe I can finally make my dream vtuber!.....Maybe lol
You can manually copy them elsewhere or save the converted elsewhere
69 likes... NICE
seriously though, good video, so it looks like they were a bit into the right direction and drifted off to another with how the menus are more confusing at soem points, I think I'll check it out at some point too
yeah thats fair
its.. a fuckup or two, but it feels lill more versatile than before.. xD
not sure about more versatile but definitely more user and beginner friendly
I wish they had kept the dark blue theme or just made the dark theme better, light mode is always hard on my eyes.
took a look at the stable version today! been using beta for a while and decided to try it out.
it didn't take too long to figure out the layout though it did take a few minutes to really get it down.
I haven't experienced too many bugs yet, though I haven't done many complicated things yet
The preset hair parts were nice to play with and make different hair combos, though figuring out how to change the hair texture took a while and then I found the button XD
Preset clothing is really neat. good for if you're too lazy to find something on BOOTH, texture your own clothing, or just want a simple outfit that looks decent.
I LOVED the preset eye shines, really nice with some custom Iris' I got off of BOOTH. Preset iris were nice too.
I haven't created any custom hair or items yet, so I can't comment on anything compared to the beta version lol
Loved the glasses and ears, will save so much time and they're both pretty customizable. and I like how the glasses add a light white overlay so they look a bit realistic (I guess XD)
(personal opinions here)
Pros:
- The thing I loved the MOST was the fact clothing comes in WAY more parts now, which makes it so much easier to add individual clothing pieces without editing the body texture and also makes it way easier to put the textures from one model to another. ex: i created a ring texture in the arm accessory category. and was able to take it form one model to another without taking any other accessory items with it
- more clothing categories and features like: socks, underwear tops and bottoms being separate, arm accessories (good for rings, gloves, bracelets, etc etc) and clothing layering which makes creating 3D clothing and more complicated clothing MUCH easier.
- face paint and makeup categories. goodbye are the days of having to agonizingly shove all our makeup and decals onto the face texture as now we just have to import the custom texture into the right category and it can be easily switched around without much struggle
- new clothing. I like them and they'll definitely be really good as a base for custom clothing sometimes.
- new animations/poses. better for testing model and model physics, and good for photos (personal favs are "stroll" and "determined" (stroll is like a more bouncy walk I guess lol. plus it looks nice))
- don't need to close the program to change models, which was annoying in the beta version
- you can edit face presets IN THE PROGRAM! No need to go into unity to edit the blend shapes of the face for expressions! And teeth also export WITH the model if you do it right with the expressions (be aware of blinking teeth if you do it wrong though!) though if you want to add custom parts like tears to the expressions, you'll still have to use unity for that unfortunately
Cons:
- old texture issues. Due to the new models being a tiny bit different, their texture maps are a bit different. when trying to use a custom bra (NecorinSHOP on BOOTH) for my model, I noticed the straps were cut off, which I never saw in the beta. after looking at the textures in the program I noticed it's because of how the new texture maps are. they're lower than the original beta models so the bra got cut off awkwardly. since I didn't wanna go through the struggle of fixing it I just erased the straps which made me a bit sad :(
- no dark mode. while i don't mind this, it will definitely get on some peoples nerves lol
- textures are more annoying to modify sometimes
- way more lag than the beta version
- editing textures and exiting texture editing is more tedious than it was in beta, though I don't it too much
Overall I think it's a good upgrade! though Beta models could run into issues so remember to have a backup of them if you decide to convert them!
I'll definitely be using stable from now on
Yooooo this looks so good!
eh
In the mean time do we just wait for Hana tool to update ?
Yes
I'm planning to be a VTuber someday. But i really to know all the rope, such as introducing my VTuber.
niiiice theres preset hairs we can study/use/edit
I was messing with it last night and mine was fine. No speed problems, loaded right as I adjust or click on something. o3o
i like the new preset feature, but i enjoy making my own textures (even tho im not that good at it) and i think if you want to make your own original character for streams or videos or something, you would need something that would make you unique. but its just my preference and i have no right judge anyone. just sharing my opinion.
I was waiting for your review thank you
It's somehow like Sims o.o
yeah but even sims allow you to adjust body type size (like thin or thicc)
Nice vid again argama,
Are the presets copyright free, can i sell something with my model wearing the presets?
In the vroid demo movie there were guns, how do i get them?
I dont know if the presets are copyright free, with exception of glasses and animal ears (as they are more meshes) I couldn't sell a commission or a model with free presets.
The demo was a movie. They added props. looked like VR chat. They were also more expressive and had better rendering. If you want guns, you have to make them
@@ArgamaWitch thanks for the reply, take care
the layout looks cool tbh
If made in v1, you cant downgrade to beta. But I'm sure Hana tool will update in a few weeks
Yes, it's so slow, also moving layers up/down SO TEDIUOS
Can't wait for it a few more versions down the line, looks so much cleaner now and having options to click through is really convenient!
Also couldn't figure out how to edit a texture of clothing it seemed to me a white mask kinda deal
its called hair bounce. In my How to use my tutorials in vroid studio v1 I show that area off
@@ArgamaWitch I'll check them out! thanks! I'm in a rush today so i didn't get to watch all of this! :)
I was wondering how you were adjusting this, i completely forgot there was an update even coming until i saw the logo change when i was updating minecraft
You could try faceforge instead of hana tool to try add perfect sync
I tried it and its a bit lag... I think I might move my other models from the beta and uninstall it to make some room.
OMG THIS IS AMAZING
9:28 We now need Argama Witch with the drip.
XD
I love the update but vroid change my hair color and Its gonna take me a long time to figure out my hair
Happy Halloween!
