I've been rigging for years now and I had no idea you can clip to several layers by putting a comma between the mesh names. I feel really dumb, also thanks a bunch!

I'm happy to hear that it helped!! It was definitely me thinking there's no way Live2D didn't have something like that so I brute forced it and I was lucky it was a function 😭

I'd probably use "pitch-roll-yaw" for the rotational axes, knowing aerospace terminology. Head fore-and-aft is pitch, shoulder-to-shoulder tilt is roll, and rotation about the neck is yaw.
I'm going to check with my artist to see if I can get what was needed to create my current model and try a rerig myself to see how well this could work.
I find this to be helpful. Thanks for making this!

    • @ShizukaDia

Thank you so much for including how long everything took for you. I'm considering to learn live2d for a school assignment, but if I want to do that I have to add an estimation of how long each part will take me.
It's also really nice to see the perspective of someone who's learning (as opposed to the pros who already know the ins and outs of the process)

Thank you I'm glad you found this video helpful! Right I purposely made this video after bootcamping myself because I didn't want to forget how it was to start out. As an artist I find it hard to give advice to beginners because I've been doing it so long and everyone is tired of hearing and saying "just practice." Hope this gave more insight! ☺️

I always view *X* and *Y* as arrows. Since *Y* looks very close to being a down-arrow, I always see it as the vertical arrows, whilst I view the *X* as the horizontal arrows.

I dont think I can make it as a vtuber, let alone even get a model. I cant keep a mascot at all 😅
I always keep on getting bored of the design no matter how much I try and make it look good. But for some reason I like the same character as a background character for stories or a main character that I make. It feels better to look at for some reason. I always end up keeping the most simple design which as I have seen on vtubers, no simple vtuber design has made it so far. And from what I've heard they also cost a lot. I could try to make one myself (which I am most into to be honest) but sadly one of my pc's dont work and the other one is really, really laggy so I cant use any of them. Though I am planning on trying to make one in the future when I get in a position that I can. Yet, this still helps a lot. Thank you.

Thank you for this video, I know it was a year ago when you posted this, but I feel like my start in trying to jump into Live2D is exactly the same. I'm trying to look into the information and trying to at one point make my own rig and potentially just a lot of fun or cute things in general. But having no knowledge or even the understanding of the vocabulary of the program can make it so taunting, yet the only way to start is simply by doing it. So thank you again for giving us this small introduction on how you went with it!

Everyone in videos suggest always use photoshop... I use GIMP 2 and its more ease for me. Also I learned in a weird way... First using a free RPG maker in that years olds... I learned a lot doing dots and dots for a character animation.... then I did stupid things using Paints basic and my friends told my it was master works but I know I wasnt... then I did basic cut, move, edit and paste using Irfanview and paint in that time to modify some images to make fun... then I learned about GIMP 2... great software indeed, then working in something calle task nowaname... then I started using Unreal Engine 4 and try to learn animation in 3D and its freaking hard as F... Then I did a lot of test free games... and my last one Its called a Lamb Tale using all my skills learned in my young times... Now I want to animate my works and found live2d easy because its all I did in my days, the only thing I want to learn is the stuff I want to do and where... After watching 2 videos in 1 day I did my first full 2dlive video with my favorite character from Magic the Gathering, Phage the Untouchable. And in that video from another girl who was directly to the point and not chit chat I found what I needed and did my job in less than 24 hours. Now with GIMP 2 and live2d I see how to animated my creations...

No matter how many rigging tutorials i watch, either something doesnt work or i have to restart my entire process and then it takes months for me to try again and then i just fail. Im really sorry about this comment but i have no where else to say this. Im legit about to scream my rigging process was doing so well but then i tryed to do body x and when i group all the parts together it doesnt let me group them, and when i try to do the eyeblink only the eyelashes go into the closed eye (im making all the eye parts go into a closed eye drawing) im legit about to scream about this

I really wish I could use it, but my budget is no near enough to get a monthly subscription, that's a shame.
Your character is adorable! Even if I won't be able to get it, thank you for the tutorial!

If you're only doing your own rig you could practice all the basics on the free version then go ham on the 45 day trial to do more complex rig. I do wish it wasnt so expensive either ): thank you for watching and good luck no matter what you decide to do!

I've learned rigging via flash since I used to animate there. I guess the only thing i need to do is to learn how to use the program. It's gone be difficult.

Definitely important to have strong hardware to handle streaming or even working on such projects. 😭 Good luck!

Im surprised to see people struggle with live2D , That they take so much time and took alot of tjme to learn
I honestly learned it in 2-3 days, Learned how to make them into a usable model in a day. It was really fun and beautiful
People who took bery long, what did you exactly struggled on? Really curious
