I've been rigging for years now and I had no idea you can clip to several layers by putting a comma between the mesh names. I feel really dumb, also thanks a bunch!
I'm happy to hear that it helped!! It was definitely me thinking there's no way Live2D didn't have something like that so I brute forced it and I was lucky it was a function 😭
Thank you for putting this out. I'm not really planning on doing L2D rigging, but I always appreciate the opportunity to better understand all the background work that goes into this!
thank u for making this omg,,, as sm1 whos thinking of learning to rig, its nice to see a realistic explanation of what goes on...! cus the normal tutorials they already have a base knowledge so they dont explain as much,,, so this is really helpful!! also your art is really good and you character is so cute....! also your nihaolo is so cute i was happy when i heard it, (do you speak chinese....?) looking forward to see what else u put out!!! jiayou!!!
I'm so glad if this helps you figure out the investment 🥺💕 I'm really happy to hear that and thank you for liking my design! I'm ethnically Chinese but my first and primary language is English! Still, I want to honor my culture with my design and phrases. Thank you so much for your support! 💕💎
Cute video, and such a soothing voice! I was learning live2D a few weeks ago, had to restart SO many times, its fun but man it has a way of making you feel like you've accomplished nothing in a day haha
Thank you so much!! Ah yeah the restarting process really feels like you're scraping time but it's worth it 🙏 wishing you the best of luck on your Live2D adventures
I'd probably use "pitch-roll-yaw" for the rotational axes, knowing aerospace terminology. Head fore-and-aft is pitch, shoulder-to-shoulder tilt is roll, and rotation about the neck is yaw. I'm going to check with my artist to see if I can get what was needed to create my current model and try a rerig myself to see how well this could work. I find this to be helpful. Thanks for making this!
I'm glad this can help! And using your own labeling and methods definitely assist in the process and of course that direct communication with your artist ☺️ good luck!
Thank you so much for including how long everything took for you. I'm considering to learn live2d for a school assignment, but if I want to do that I have to add an estimation of how long each part will take me. It's also really nice to see the perspective of someone who's learning (as opposed to the pros who already know the ins and outs of the process)
Thank you I'm glad you found this video helpful! Right I purposely made this video after bootcamping myself because I didn't want to forget how it was to start out. As an artist I find it hard to give advice to beginners because I've been doing it so long and everyone is tired of hearing and saying "just practice." Hope this gave more insight! ☺️
I always view *X* and *Y* as arrows. Since *Y* looks very close to being a down-arrow, I always see it as the vertical arrows, whilst I view the *X* as the horizontal arrows.
As someone who always confuses similar things, like X and Y, or horizontal and vertical, (I feel like my brain is broken at times for confusing things) this is a really fun way to remember something visually! Thanks =D
Thanks for the enjoyable crash course! I've started feeling curious about live2d and rigging, and while I don't feel entirely prepared to take it on yet, I'm very glad to have your video as a proper guide and resource to see it through when I do get the courage. Thanks professor!
I remember that I tried to do L2D for a few days and I had given up but I saw your video, it gave me hope that I could do it, now I can say that I have made several models and even had one or another commission. You can not imagine how much I thank you
Thank you very much. I am starting the journey myself and prospect of learning for months was a little overwhelming. Seeing it can take weeks instead of months is really motivating.
I'm very happy to hear that! It does take a lot of time grinding for EXP but if you're motivated with lots of guides for sure you can get a hang of it. UA-cam and Twitter Live2D posts has made it way easier for me to learn these days ☺️
I dont think I can make it as a vtuber, let alone even get a model. I cant keep a mascot at all 😅 I always keep on getting bored of the design no matter how much I try and make it look good. But for some reason I like the same character as a background character for stories or a main character that I make. It feels better to look at for some reason. I always end up keeping the most simple design which as I have seen on vtubers, no simple vtuber design has made it so far. And from what I've heard they also cost a lot. I could try to make one myself (which I am most into to be honest) but sadly one of my pc's dont work and the other one is really, really laggy so I cant use any of them. Though I am planning on trying to make one in the future when I get in a position that I can. Yet, this still helps a lot. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing this!! I’m a 3D mayor that wants to specialize in 3D rigging, but man live2D and 2D rigging look fun as hell too. I was thinking of creating a vtuber model and stream while I learn and polish my skills in 3D. This helps a fuck ton, so thank youuuu
It's probably good I'm making a very simple western-style cartoon model. I think I'd have a stroke doing the more complex models like in this video lmao Thanks for a clear and concise video to get me started! :D
There are great examples of simplified styles too! I believe the Live2D library itself has a good template to reference off of. And thank you! I'm glad it this video helps at all ☺️ good luck!
thank you so much! this gives me a good vibe of what I'm getting into! I've been putting off downloading live2d for a while cuz while i think its right up my alley learning new programs on my own is kinda freaky for me! so this gave me a (hopefully) good vibe on what I am biting into!
AAaahhh thank you so much for all the cutting references!! I'm thinking about getting a 2D model eventually and want to do the art/cutting myself, and those guides look so useful!!!
Thank you for this video, I know it was a year ago when you posted this, but I feel like my start in trying to jump into Live2D is exactly the same. I'm trying to look into the information and trying to at one point make my own rig and potentially just a lot of fun or cute things in general. But having no knowledge or even the understanding of the vocabulary of the program can make it so taunting, yet the only way to start is simply by doing it. So thank you again for giving us this small introduction on how you went with it!
This is really helpful for someone like me who's considering trying to make a 2D V-tuber for my PNG-tuber. The PNG-tuber is fine but I feel like it would be more fun to have a moving V-tuber. Luckily, my model will be super simple, so I probably won't need to work quite as hard as someone with a highly detailed character
As someone who figuring out her design and want to make a 2d vtuber model this help alot thank you though it probably gonna take me 1 to 2 years lol but it a passion project for me

No matter how many rigging tutorials i watch, either something doesnt work or i have to restart my entire process and then it takes months for me to try again and then i just fail. Im really sorry about this comment but i have no where else to say this. Im legit about to scream my rigging process was doing so well but then i tryed to do body x and when i group all the parts together it doesnt let me group them, and when i try to do the eyeblink only the eyelashes go into the closed eye (im making all the eye parts go into a closed eye drawing) im legit about to scream about this
I really wish I could use it, but my budget is no near enough to get a monthly subscription, that's a shame. Your character is adorable! Even if I won't be able to get it, thank you for the tutorial!
If you're only doing your own rig you could practice all the basics on the free version then go ham on the 45 day trial to do more complex rig. I do wish it wasnt so expensive either ): thank you for watching and good luck no matter what you decide to do!
me about to make an almost whole ass series tho but the riggings, animations and art,,,,, ..will take me months Edit: I’m a noob in art trying to get better, but also planning to get a pc in July 2022 might as well warn my new channel about being inactive
This is really helpful but I have a question whenever i make an animation what happens is if i rig my left and right arm at the same time my right arm moves a few second after so basically my animation doesnt move at the right time so have you any tips on how i could fix that ? Qnd your animating and art style is super cute ! ❤️✨😊
I've learned rigging via flash since I used to animate there. I guess the only thing i need to do is to learn how to use the program. It's gone be difficult.
Im surprised to see people struggle with live2D , That they take so much time and took alot of tjme to learn I honestly learned it in 2-3 days, Learned how to make them into a usable model in a day. It was really fun and beautiful People who took bery long, what did you exactly struggled on? Really curious

I hate cutting, I prefer to do stuff already separatedly :c the proccess of redoing lines and making all these surgeries makes me very dead lol
yeah i agree! I guess i do half and half in my work flow. cutting is definitely tedious!

@@ShizukaDia 🥲
I really wish I could use it, but my budget is no near enough to get a monthly subscription, that's a shame.
Your character is adorable! Even if I won't be able to get it, thank you for the tutorial!
If you're only doing your own rig you could practice all the basics on the free version then go ham on the 45 day trial to do more complex rig. I do wish it wasnt so expensive either ): thank you for watching and good luck no matter what you decide to do!
@@ShizukaDia Thanks a lot! I'll take your advice in consideration
me about to make an almost whole ass series tho but the riggings, animations and art,,,,,
..will take me months
Edit: I’m a noob in art trying to get better, but also planning to get a pc in July 2022
might as well warn my new channel about being inactive

This is really helpful but I have a question whenever i make an animation what happens is if i rig my left and right arm at the same time my right arm moves a few second after so basically my animation doesnt move at the right time so have you any tips on how i could fix that ? Qnd your animating and art style is super cute ! ❤️✨😊
angle Z sounds like me, I know that after 3 days of this there will be some if not a lot of tilting while strogling not to kill my PC XD.
your model honestly looks like a Gacha character! anyways thank you :)
I've learned rigging via flash since I used to animate there. I guess the only thing i need to do is to learn how to use the program. It's gone be difficult.
Could you make a tutorial on model making?
I have a love-hate relationship with live2d, I began this week
When ur in school and watching this when u say u have a job:🎵we don’t have thos problems~~~🎵 no sir re~~🎵
You did best
I learned how to do the basics but my tech around can't keep up lol~ oh well maybe someday~
Definitely important to have strong hardware to handle streaming or even working on such projects. 😭 Good luck!
This was helpful thank you!
how did I get here...? UA-cam, is this a sign? It's pretty interesting despite me not knowing anything that's happening.
Im surprised to see people struggle with live2D , That they take so much time and took alot of tjme to learn
I honestly learned it in 2-3 days, Learned how to make them into a usable model in a day. It was really fun and beautiful
People who took bery long, what did you exactly struggled on? Really curious
