You guys saved my life!!! Well, my m8’s life. The bobbin holder slipped in but it wasn’t placed correctly and nowhere other than you guys went carefully over the correct placement. Thank you so much! Now on you will be the first place I will look for solving issues with my beloved!
This was the best Janome cleaning tutorial on You Tube! I watched 3 others...none were as well videoed as yours. I feel like my machine is in great shape now. Thank you so much!
Total lifesaver!!! Followed along with your your positive can do presentation and I now understand my machine so much better. I thought the wick in the bobbin well was lint that had to be removed 😂
Hi there, thank you for this tutorial, I have become a cleaning fiend for my machine (a MC8200QCPSE), always good to get some tips, especially turning the bobbin case holder around to look for more dirt, I never thought to do that, love the look of the little cleaning swabs, but I'm in Australia so not sure if they are available here... good to see the "bad" bobbin cases, now I know what to look for, very helpful, thank you 🌻💜
Great video. I have an old Janome MC4000. I learned a couple things from your video that I will try. My janome sews forward very well. But once I hit the reverse it will not go forward again unless I turn it off and back on again. I'm retired anon a fixed income so it's not going to a repair shop. This will definitely be a DIY project. Thanks again for the video.😊
Thank you SO much for this video. I was sewing and had an issue with tension and material and the material was pulled down into the machine. I was using a plastic bobbin. My cleaning kit disappeared so I improvised and while listening about the bobbin casing, I thought hmmm, is the plastic bobbin the issue. I cleaned the machine and put it back together, put in a metal bobbin and the machine, and it works! I'm off to your website to purchase a new kit and the awesome tools you used. Thank you SO much for this great video. Excellent helpful video.
I bought my 8200 from an authorized dealer and he told me not to oil it! I clean it with those swabs and they are amazing! I do take it in every year for a professional cleaning too. Great video, especially the part about the bobbin case.
Thanks for your help especially on the oiling issues, we no longer have a Janome dealer in our area and the only one I can find is four hours away. I simply can’t imagine why because their machines are just wonderful and very low maintenance. However, my machine will still need yearly maintenance with a dealer.
The 1600 has pretty good instructions in the owners manual. (Mine froze up due to inattention, but hubby was able to get the oil in all the right spots and after a couple of days, it all worked nicely.) Have a post it note on it to remind me to OIL. :)
Thanks for this helpful maintenance demo. I recently just blindly probed with a cleaning tip where the tension spring is. I need to learn before doing! Question: Does my skyline s6 walking foot need oil? I have made 48 quilts in the past 2 yrs. Want to maintain it if it needs oiling. Thanks.
Excellent video...thank you! Do you know if the face plate on the Sewest 625e comes off or just swings open after removing the cap and screw? Am afraid to pull it too hard and break it. Thanks.
Hi, really useful video. I just bought a second hand Janome 360dc which has been regularly serviced. I noticed that it wasn’t feeding very well and tended to feed sideways. I thought the feed dog was not level. I took it off and found a washer under the left side, but not the right, so I thought this might be the reason, but I don’t know if this is how it’s supposed to be, or if there are supposed to be washers under both screw holes (of the feed dog), or neither! Watching your video, your feed dog teeth looked much more pointed than on mine, so I thought also maybe I need a new one? Another useful thing I found in your video is that I need to replace my bobbin case because there is a nick in mine. Very small, but I guess it could cause problems. Anyway, do you know how many washers should be under the feed dog, 0,1 or 2? Thanks!
Guy great video. I got MC9900 and i just ruined 3rd bobin holder... And I'm afraid when putting new I will ruin this too... I'm doing everything as it should yet bobin holder could rotate or push up the plate....
I have an 8900 and an 11000, as well as a wonderful Elna. My ELNA book shows lots of places I need to oil monthly, but neither the Janome 8900 or the Janome 11000 book give me any info on oil points. (Even my Singer Featherweight book tells me how to service). I use the 11000 for embroidery and wonder if there are places on the arm to oil???? We like to take of our machines, but can't find any other information.
Any recommendations for Janome Memory Craft 6500 ) Professional .... the feed dogs are down and will not go up. Even when using the proper button to lower and raise. I have cleaned the area, the sping you showed is still intact. I have put the feed dog lever in the up/raise position.. and turned the wheel forward one rotation to "engage the feed dogs" again. However that did not work. What is the next step?? Take it in for service??
Great video, many thanks. Can you tell me what the swabs contain? I am in Australia, so can't buy from you, and looking at similar here describes them as used for camera lenses and printers, but the word "solvent" keeps cropping up which is worrying, your advice would be much appreciated.
It really depends on how much you sew... If it appears to be dry then one oil it with one drop. Typically this is every 6 months if you're not sewing a ton.
I never knew a broken needle damages a bobbin case. I shortened jeans with its original hem and it kept breaking thread, making thread balls. It was so filthy and needed oil. Dumbutt-owner!

Where can I get the vacuum attachments? Or the vacuum? Thanks
I bought a used Janome MC 10000. The pressure foot is not raising. Error when powered on says Raise pressure foot. Do you have any suggestions?
How often should you oil the wick area and the needle bar?
It really depends on how much you sew... If it appears to be dry then one oil it with one drop. Typically this is every 6 months if you're not sewing a ton.
I’m about to check my manual. I swear it says my Skyline S3 doesn’t need oiling. I hope I’m not wrong!
