I just purchased a new janome HD 9 BE I use it primarily for leather work. I'm having a terrible time getting the detention set, I don't see where you have addressed this previously. Perhaps you could address this in the future. Also is there any benefit in purchasing a walking foot for this machine?

I think they should've changed the model number to HD10 when they switched bobbins. That is confusion. The 1600 has a standard bobbin and it's good that it has a different model number. I like that Juki has had TL models since 1998 and the bobbins and accessories are all compatible. It is a well known solid machine with bobbins that are used in the sewing industry...that being said, I would've preferred to sèe the TL from the beginning with a bigger bobbin. I like the big sewing space on these Janome machines.

How do I make needle always down when finished with a seam?

When i do the giggle test on the bobbin tension, the bobbin falls out whether it is tight or loose…is that normal?

But which machine is more powerful between the 1600 and hd9?

Thank you so much for doing these videos... I have had my Janome HD9. for several weeks...all was well until I broke a needle and after replacing could not keep the thread from breaking. After two hours of frustration and the operator's manual read from cover to cover I found your video. Turns out my bobbin screw was just very slightly too loose. After following your settings, it sews a beautiful stitch again! You were a life saver. I have a deadline to finish a quilt top! Thanks so much.

Thanks for the video. I am not clear about the dial tension. You turn it very quickly and I can’t tell how you get from 4 to 8 with so many turns. It looks to me that you would just have to turn it very slightly. How do you tell what number you are on?

Such a helpful video! I make false horse tails using natural horse hair and fabric. I was experiencing a birdnest thinking it was my bobbin. Your explanation was spot on. I have the 400 e and it doesn’t click in anywhere. There is no tension, that I can tell. When threading, I have to hold the spool to thread , even with presser foot down. Shouldn’t it some tension on it? The stitches look good, but it breaks the thread quite a bit. I think after watching this video, I’ve found one problem I didn’t see. That second little guide, above the needle, I didn’t thread that. I still wonder about that guide on that top, not having any tension. It’s still a worry. Thanks for the video

Should the large screw that typically goes on with the T device also be used to put different feet on my HD9 V2? Others on the Janome forum indicate it is easier to change feet when using the larger screw. It does not appear to work on my machine. The feet fall off the post.

Should I need to make any changes if sewing webbing with waxed canvas?

I have an 8900 and an 11000, as well as a wonderful Elna. My ELNA book shows lots of places I need to oil monthly, but neither the Janome 8900 or the Janome 11000 book give me any info on oil points. (Even my Singer Featherweight book tells me how to service). I use the 11000 for embroidery and wonder if there are places on the arm to oil???? We like to take of our machines, but can't find any other information.

The store I purchased my Janome 4120 last year told me to only use Janome needles. Then I read you could use a Schmetz needle in a Janome machine and I have been using them since I had a large amount I already owned. However I recently had my machine serviced for the first time. It was working fine but they told me I needed to have it serviced once a year. The repair person criticized me for having a Schmetz needle and said it would throw the timing off and that they were slightly longer. I am having trouble believing this is true but I want to know. I have compared them and they look the same to me. They also gave me what they said was a complimentary package of Janome needles. When I opened the envelope today they are actually labeled as Organ needles and are in a package called Organ needles. I have never even heard of them but they told me they were Janome. I am very concerned about what I should be using. I am wondering if the store is being honest with me.

Any recommendations for Janome Memory Craft 6500 ) Professional .... the feed dogs are down and will not go up. Even when using the proper button to lower and raise. I have cleaned the area, the sping you showed is still intact. I have put the feed dog lever in the up/raise position.. and turned the wheel forward one rotation to "engage the feed dogs" again. However that did not work. What is the next step?? Take it in for service??

Not clear where the thread goes when loading the bobbin.

Having trouble understanding the “numbers” on the top tension. Demonstrator turns knob multiple times and I don’t see how that corresponds w/ a number.

I was hoping you would have new tutorials on the machine. Including how to download files to computer , then to usb stick and how to upload to 500e.
