I just can't thank you enough for finding and uploading these wonderful movies. They are from a time when you were not overwhelmed with CGI special effects and actors / actresses knew how to "act"...... don't get me wrong, some of the recent era of movies have great merit (especially the fantastic documentaries) and have developed new genre's in the process of developing movies that rely on "in your face action, explosions and fast paced stories".
I was born in 1957 and remember going to the movies as a youngster - 50 cents for a double feature and 5 cent tub of popcorn. Cutting my teeth on real acting and low budget action and thrillers.

It was fun seeing the Griffith Park Observatory (in Hollywood, Ca.) in this film. I grew up just a couple of blocks from Griffith Park in the 60's, which became the "back yard" and playground for all us kids in the neighborhood. I can't tell you how many hundreds of times I went to the Observatory, and the opening scene of the space theater brought back many memories of seeing the "show" both on school trips and with my family and friends. At that time there was no entrance fee, so us kids would go often to see the exhibits in their museum, look through the telescope or just run around the stairs and walkways outside that led up to the magnificent view of the city.

That term "Good Ole Days" really means something.
Note: I grew up in Sunnyvale, CA. in the 1960's-70's visiting Foothill Colleges Planetarium and Observatory many times. Even going to the Laser Rock Shows @ the Planetarium. I also visited Mt. Hamilton Observatory in the days when you didn't need a Special Appointment and pay an outrageous fee to look through their Telescope?

I really enjoyed this movie! It was so interesting to hear them say there were only 3 observatories in the US at the time - and today there is real talk of landing people on Mars by the 2030s.
Oh, dear! I really believe we are in the beginning of sorrows of the end of days Jesus speaks of in Matthew 24:4-8. I hope the beginning of sorrows won't last that long. Jesus says in Matthew 24:22 that the tribulation days shall be shortened or else no flesh survive, but no time frame for the beginning of sorrows with the exception of Matthew 24:14 wherein Jesus says that this gospel of the kingdom shall be published to all nations and then the end will come. Wycliffe & Associates began translating the Bible into every language and dialect on the planet in 2000 with a then projected finish date in 2025; they're ahead of schedule with a projected finish date of late 2020 or early 2021.

At 2:33 Dr. Stone is slumped in the chair looking dead before the gun is fired. Still, a good movie especially for its age.
I liked this movie, but it was confusing and hard to follow.

My high school in the seventies had a planetarium. There must be thousands now. And the distances they said are not correct. Arcturus is 36.7 light-years.

What's this? You learning how to count?
@@sheristewart3940 at those points in the film you will usually see a flash of a circle on the screen. If I recall correctly those were marks to tell the projectionist when to prep the next reel but they may have other uses. Jamie's does this with most of the films here though I can't say I know why.
@@RockOfLions Nope, those circles snd sometimes dots were used by local TV stations ( when these films were sold to them in the 50's and 60's) to signal where the film was to be cut for a commercial break. You see a lot of them along with awkward jumps and cuts because these films were cut and re-cut over the years to fit different commercial lengths or station breaks.
@@ladywisewolf3942 in both cases the circles indicate breaks either for projectionists or for TV commercial splices. You may notice that these marks exist in movies made before TV was a common thing. As TV progressed the projectionist warnings were replaced by actual splices of 'PLACE' or 'INSERT COMMERCIAL HERE' which were often pre-placed in the film until film was replaced. You can learn more about the marks in the wikipedia article 'Cue marks'.

GOD---how early-on the 'annoying, smart-mouthed' 'female/girl-cub' Reporter schtick was used as a plot gimmick AND how it nearly immediately wore-out Its invite. 'Oft wondered just what would be the demographics on the type of movie-go that found this amusing enough to let the Studios to drag-out Its usage. LoL. Easy enough for the Studios to keep it alive for so long---''cause just where were some of the Producers and Actors going to put their 'current main-squeeze' at with a 'promise' of a FILM CAREER. LoL
