Pam Tebelman, I agree. Animal abuse anywhere is abhorrent. The wet markets come to mind. Human beings are getting some of it back for the horrible way they treat animals.

All I know is that God loves animals, and, although I am not a vegetarian due to digestive issues, according to the Bble, God did not originally intend for man to eat animals, but for him to love and care for them. After the fall of man, the laws that God gave the Jews for food and food handling were not only meant for His people to be disease-free and safe, but were also humane concerning the animals themselves. I think we would all do well if we at least followed these guidelines, and if I could afford it, I think I would adhere to the Kosher diet.
