I have 54,000 miles on my 2012 Voyager. Fantastic bike. Rode a 2018 Road Glide a couple of weeks ago. Nice bike but like my Voyager just as much. Can`t get over the Harley price, even if they were about the same price, probably still choose the Voyager.
I have an 88 Voyager 1200 with 89K miles. The only thing that doesn't work is the cassette deck. Great video !
I own a 2010 version of this bike as sold in Australia. I notice the rear speakers. I assume these were fitted by the owner as they are not available on the Australian version of this bike. It has cruise control, a radio featuring AM/FM ( we do not have satellite radio in Australia) radio and a music player plug in through the left glovebox so music can be played through the on board system. The volume level is automatically adjustable as the bike's speed increases. Also fitted are ABS brakes with the KACT system which means using the brake pedal activates the rear brake and the right front disk whereas using the front brake lever activates and balances all three disks. Cruise control is standard as is the 6 speed box - the 6th gear is great for the highway. The screen and the lowers which can be opened in summer to allow for some air flow keep the wind off the rider and I reckon they should give the pillion good protection (although I have never been a passenger). There is plenty of luggage space if you want to take the bike on the road for touring which is what it is designed for. The dashboard is well laid out and in the eye line as you're looking at the road. If I were to suggest to Kawasaki one improvement it would be an electric, speed limited reverse gear. This is a heavy bike (400kgs wet), it is easy to roll into a nose in angle parking but impossible to walk out. Whilst reverse might not fit the cruiser aesthetic it makes sense - such a reverse is available on the Gold Wing and it does not detract from the look or cred of the bike. Again thanks for the video and test ride. The key can be removed once the bike has been started - this is to protect the chrome around the fuel cap.
It's a beautiful ride. I ve had a Mean streak, MT09, and Harley 1200 sportster. This is the ultimate.
I own a 2017 Voyager and really like it. It's highest selling point is it's price and very easy interest rate financing. I also own a 1993 Electra Glide that I bought new and still own. Love my Harley but bought the Voyager because I could afford it. Bottom line is the Voyager is half the price of a new Harley but is far more than half the bike. The few things it gives away are all things that are minor Taking the Voyages to Quebec next month. .Ride safe

I had the first year ABS model - the cruise control hunted all the time, the motor vibes came through the frame to the rider and ran out of wind way too soon, the transmission was not as slick as the "05 Nomad I had. The motor ran very hot - I think they have corrected that now a days. Wind and rain cold air etc. comes up through and around the steering head. The intercom system was not up to par and the audio was not great either. I bought it because my "02 Nomad was fabulous and I expected more from the newer cooler model. Boy was I wrong. Didn't take me long to get my Ultra and all my dreams came true - better in every way. Oh and by the way - why on earth are you not wearing gloves? Words of wisdom - bare hands on asphalt - the asphalt wins every time!

@@AzTurboMini I had the first one I could get - 2009. I owned a few Kawasaki cruisers previously and had no trepidation about buying their latest Voyager but that didn't last very long. I went to the dark side after that and we have had Harley Touring bikes ever since.
Just bought my today. Motor was running hot after the first 70 miles. It cooled off.
I own a Vulcan 1600 Classic. You can try to accelerate from 10 mph in 3rd but the manual says you should be in second. That sound it made isn't grunting, it's lugging.
Best bike for the buck !!!! Has everything you need and more ! Love Harley but love money in my pocket more !

2020 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager...less than $14K on CYcleTrader. That has to be the best reason.

As always great vid. I have the Vaquero, sometimes i do have a problem with the heat but that is because I'm in Texas and you feel that when it gets up in the 100's outside temp. Like you said its part of riding, I ride all year around here.

for the heat, you can do the Ivan if you flash, the engine is gonna run a lot cooler than factory setting
I know this is an old video. But I had to check out the review on this motorcycle. My heart is set on an Indian Challenger, or the Indian Pursuit. Just because I love the tour pack. Since those two bikes are out of my price range, I figured that this would be the next best thing. It’s right in my price range. I have my eyes on one right now. Same color👌🏽. God bless bro 🙏🏽.
Same here dude I rode the pursuit from Indian and man what a bike. If this bike rides as smooth and as good as that Pursuit this may be in my garage soon.
I had an '09 they corrected the issue in 2012. My bike would get so hot you couldn't even ride it over 70 degrees. So glad they fixed the problem
Mike- if you haven't yet, send your CPU to Ivan. He makes it run better and cooler. Definitely recomend. Helped me on my 2013 Voyager

I BOUGHT A 2010 VOYAGER ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO WITH 2,600 MILES ON IT FOR $7,700.00 AND HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED WITH IT. I CANNOT AFFORD A H.D. I DID CUT 4 INCHES OFF OF THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD AND RE DRILLED THE BOLT HOLE PATTERN TO GET IT WHERE I LIKE IT. MY BIKE HAS PLENTY OF POWER IF YOU RIDE IN THE PROPER GEAR AND DO NOT LUG IT. OH, AND I REMOVED THE BAFFLES IN THE STOCK MUFFLERS, IT WAS TOO QUIET FOR ME.

my friend got a Harley and played to much and the first 2 years he stuck $2800 fixing it and after ONLY 71000 miles it needed a overhaul a 3000 bill great resale never buy a Harley Davidson HD stands for half done .the only good Harley was the v- rod but that engine was from Porsche.

These also have turn signal auto cancel, and an overdrive gear so tall that the highest legal speed limit in the U.S. is calm tot he point of serene. I just got mine and I really like it.

"Light & nimble"? My 21' Vaquero is around 900lbs. "Light & Nimble" is not what I'd choose for a description, then again I mostly rode 79' KZ1000 ST's before I bought mine. Still love how it rides though for a "bagger".
had Kawasaki's growing up and really liked them, wish I still had my 1976 KZ900, but alas I had to sell it years ago. But I know ride a 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra............I love it, 59,800 kms on to date, sadly its up on its jack in storage for the winter. Rode across Canada last year BC to Newfoundland and back in all kinds of weather. There are more money but nothing rides like a Harley, they may not be the most technically advanced but I love mine. But if I was going to buy different it would be the Kawi for sure

Deep love for the Vulcans. Started out on a Vulcan, had a few more even the Beasty 2000. Been on the Vaquero and Voyager more than once. Gotta say definitely like my Road Glide Ultra more.

I think the kawi needs ivan reflash, priced affordable, fair resale value, gets very hot due to government standards for emission control, harley is more linear in throttle response, high resale value, ridiculously priced, better sound system, kawi reminds me of a copy , i know it shouldn't matter but it still does, both voyager and ultra are great 2 up touring bikes
I have a vulcan nomad 1600 2008 and was wondering if I want to go full dresser if the voyager is a good upgrade ? Or if I can get a trunk fit in my voyager is that good enough? Obviously the voyager has radio which I don’t really care about but the cruise control is nice. Any suggestions?

There is nothing about ANY motorcycle that would make me believe a bike with very little R&D would cost 20K plus to make. Especially a slow HD bike with old technology. A Goldwing is the only bike I could see that costs that much.
Been riding my new to me Voyager and can't believe how much I love this bike. Test rode some Harleys but for the money they did not impress me any more than my bike. More updated features yes, but way overpriced.
The 09,10,and 11 didn’t have the fan that takes the engine heat off the rider. I have the 09. And in summer! Super hot in traffic! Like your legs get baked chicken heat!

Definitely if by considering Vaquero it's obviously a better choice to have added some extra, not much though, funds you will have a rich package, neither Harley no Indian will never let you for even not a close bid of such a money. That's why we are conceding markets to Japanese. Sure different people are preferring different riding styles, whatnot. In my opinion although Harleys, Indians and Hondas are not just expensive, in fact theyre but shamlessly overpriced, we are facing all this whimsical electronic issues imminently. For Gold Wing will regularly require to update a different aspects of its stuff as firmware, software which is responsible for no less but critical functions of a two wheeler. Kawi Voyager in its turn is representing a pure classics without much redundant electronics and so on. I'll consider it for the future bike after my current Kawi Vulcan LT which is great but underpowered for American freeway with it's rather ridiculous 905 cc.

Install one. They don’t come with it.

There is no doubt that the bike has some weight to it. It's actually 100 pounds lighter than the Vulcan 2000, a bike that I had, but got destroyed when a deer jumped into me, me doing 60mph. I really feel that the heaviness of that bike actually saved my life. The 1700 is 100 pounds lighter, but still has enough weight to deliver some protection in a high speed impact.
Keep practicing slow speed turns and you will develop the techniques to handle the bike will ease. I sometimes revert back to some old habits, and the bike quickly reminds me that it doesn't like to be ridden that way. Basically, ride the bike the way it wants to be ridden, and you will find that the bike is extremely maneuverable at slow speeds, and during high speed sharp turns. The bike is very impressive. I run Metzler 888's on both front and back, but have found that the recommended tire inflation is a little soft. I run the front at 34psi instead of the recommended 28psi, and I run the rear at 42psi instead of the recommended 40psi heavy, or 36psi light.

Voyager or gold wing?
I owned a GL1800 for a few years, then I bought a Voyager this year. I like the Voyager better overall as a driver. It's more fun in the twisties, overall better handling, and better gear ratios mean it's FAR less fussy in lower transitional speeds and corners. Far more flickable in turns, the GW almost required full-body yanking the bike over in turns. The GW also has fun-killing lean angle before scraping. Basically you are granny riding in the mountains because you don't have a choice. The Voyager responds to classic big twin tilting technique in turns, and it's a lot of fun. The downsides are the well known hot weather discomfort, and the cramped passenger space that requires rigging up a way to slide the top box assembly back an inch or two, I'm working on that. Would I make the switch again? Yes.

Does the engine pull off easily from a stop?

The bike is well engineered. However, Kawasaki has it restricted from what the bike can be. That's where Ivan from Ivan's Performance comes in. Send him the ECU (Engine Control Module), and he will flash it (flash meaning reprogram it), and send it back. Price is reasonable.
The bike will now have muscle! The increase in torque through all gears including Overdrive will floor you.
Example: On the interstate, the speed limit in Pennsylvania is 70mph. I usually set the cruise for 80mph. Before the flash, in the aforementioned configuration, if I wanted to accelerate, I would twist the throttle and wait until the bike would slowly gain speed a few mph at a time.. Now, in the same configuration, I twist the throttle, and not much, and I rocket off of 80mph and am through 110mph in a matter of a few seconds. Incredible!!!
Google Ivan's Performance and go to his website for pricing and shipping information. You won't be sorry!!!
I have a stock exhaust and stock Airbox. If you want even more power than what is configured on my bike, you can replace the airbox with a high flow air intake, and add high output exhaust pipes, then Ivan will flash the ECU to that configuration, giving you even more power.
Take a close look at the performance print outs that he has displayed on his website. Study them a bit so you completely understand what they are showing. The increase with the mods is impressive, but I am very satisfied with the flash and stock configuration.

Short answer: yes.
My bike is not flashed. By the time you get your foot back onto the left floorboard from a stop, you train yourself to come down onto the heel shifter. Now you're in 2nd and can easily pull away to 50+ mph.

I tried it 2017 these motorcycles has no power you crunk around the throttle and you see the needle move very slowly from 45 to 50 you ever and the middle of a situation where you need to move quickly you will get kill these bikes don't have power I was thinking to get one as I mentioned I tried it 2017

Voyager over Road Glide? Harley created a template in the Road Glide that Japanese manufacturers have tried to emulate for years in terms of aesthetics.. That was the basis for the Harley lawsuit against Honda several years ago.. Economically, the Japanese manufacturers offer a more affordable version of the "American Vision" of motorcycling.. In essence, the external attributes are similar in ocular perception but the Japanese engineering is missing the "soul" of the American biker experience to that which Harley Davidson embodies... It looks like a duck, it walks like a duck but at the end of the day that duck eats a bowl of rice instead of a steak.. Great vid, brother.. Thanks
At the end of the day I prefer a functional bike that does exactly the same as others but a lower price.
Meanwhile some guy sits at a desk at Harley-Davidson and is in the process of ordering some parts from Japan for the new Harleys that are being built.

I can deal with the sound. the reduced vibrations mean less nerve damage over a lifetime of motorcycling, and that means I can rider longer. I like that. I can always put on different exhaust too.

YUP! And I have learned that, for the most part, you can buy a *used* HD, ride it for 6 mo. ot a year, and resell it for reallllyyyy dang close to what you paid for it. You could literally buy a different *used* Harley every spring and what you loose on selling the one you rode last year is wayyy less than what a years worth of new bike payments would have been. Took me 5 years of buying OTHER brands of bikes to figure this out! hahahaha!
I did buy a XL1200C for $5400 in the spring of 2016, sold it in the fall, and got $5200 out of it after putting nearly 8k miles on it. (I had 3 other bikes at the same time as well)
Not true at all anymore. Look at Craigslist for a 4 year old Ultra Classic Harley with low miles. They would have paid 24-26k new. Can buy them for 16,000 all day long. I believe that`s 8-10k less than new. Buy a new metric bike for 16,000, will easily sell for 9,000 4 years later.
Only if you never ride the bike. If you put more than 20k on the bike you'll get one third the trade in value at a dealer. Also every retired dentist has one in the garage his wife wants him to sell so they aren't the rare item they once were.
I have owned over 10 Harleys and have been riding since 1974. It use to be Harleys held their value when Harley did not put out a lot of bikes. That is no longer the case. For example, I bought a 2003 Road King CVO 103 cu in Harley with 6,000 miles on it 2 months ago. I got it for $6,000. It was a showroom condition bike, not even a bug splat on it. The bike sold for $28,000 new and with 6,000 miles on it, it is now $6,000. Harleys do not hold their value anymore!!!!
Kurt I think you may have misread my comment bro. I said buy *used* bike, sell that used bike a year later and buy another *used* bike. Stay away from the new ones. Everyone looses their ass on a new bike regardless of brand. I know, I have bought and sold over 20 of them in the last 30 years. LOL I *doF* have a good deal of experience in this mater.
