- I cover the throw heard 'round the world. Mykolas Alekna throwing 74.35m to break the oldest record in men's track and field.
Alekna set the record on April 14, 2024 in Ramona, OK.

Insane how small he is compared to Crouser, you always expect discus throwers to be HUGE too, but Alekna is 'only' 1,94m.

Kristjan Čeh is another thrower to keep your eye on too.
So lets see if he can beat the 'old' world record in a closed stadium setting.
Please Crouser give discus a go after the Paris Os. Get in that mix with Alekna, Ceh and Stahl. Imagine how scintillating that would be. But I know he says the techniques between shot and discus rotation are somewhat at odds with each other, building problematic habits. I just want to see Ryan push the boat out and go for a next level of greatness given that he also has incredible natural talent for the discus as well as the shot.
It woul really take him years to master the technique, he would probably throw 60m really fast but after that it's so much more about the technique.
@@santeenl He already randomly threw 65 ish when he took the discus out for a random whirl a year or so ago... with no work whatsoever. He's also already publicly stated that he's considering taking it up after Paris. Were you not aware of his pedigree in discus as a junior? He showed equivalent talent to the shot.
