Holy shit the thickness of the metal that is cutting is just crazy! We would use an oxy-acetylene or a heavy duty plasma cutter to cut metal that thick back when I worked as a welder fabricator. I could never have imagined a cordless saw cutting metal that thick, what a freaking monster! I would have killed to have one of those back then, it would have been so nice to have when cutting truck frames in half when doing frame stretches to make super clean straight cuts!

Love the fun having with the “battery talk”, That made me smile 😅

I didn't know about the cells being better is what was making the same size batteries more powerful until I heard you talk about it in another video Vince, I always wondered with the XC 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0amp batteries since they were all the same size. I never saw a reason to get a 3.0amp battery when I could get a more powerful longer running 5.0amp battery that was the same size even though the 5.0amp batteries cost a little more, same with the 1.5 and 2.0amp batteries.

Nearly every jobsite i've been at recently you need to set up an area to use an angle grinder, and you need a "hot-work" card to prove you know the dangers. That's why sawzalls, circular saws end up on metal cutting duty because they don't produce sparks (or at least not the same amount as the angle grinder.)

Oh my God my uncle grinds my gears in a PG sense he never lets the blade come up to speed he just pushed every saw right in and you can hear the engines struggling he's pushing so hard. he's burned up more saws then I can count. Our multi purpose saw is spewing out grease already and it's only a month or so old. Kinda off topic but he does this with circular saws most and they almost sling right out his hands

the 8Ah battery will give you more runtime compared to the 6Ah battery. The higher the Ah battery the longer the runtime. The quality of the battery has alittle affect on runtime, but still comes down to capacity of the battery. This is the same for the Radio Control Car industry.

I was wondering what the hell you were talking about until the commercial started. Because I've been a carpenter for 30 years and most of the time I have a few saws for different materials. I'll use a different saw for concrete set up and for cutting Hardie plank so I don't have to change blades for cutting trim and the dust turns into slurry in the rain and it rains alot here. But there's been times when I only had one saw because one fell off a roof or someone cut the cord off ect and also when I started out I only had one saw to use and I never had a problem using one saw for framing, metal siding/roofing, Hardie plank, or concrete set up including cutting rebar with a cut off blade if I had too.

Welcome! I cut preciously little wood, I'm more into metal, but that is what is fun with VCG and the gang: we all do our own thing but still have alot of fun together.

I'm sure it was the weight. 8 ah is lighter and yet their next highest capacity. Yet 6ah is their most powerful.

I tried to do a 4 foot rip with the corded version and my blade was dull before I even finished. 3/16 thickness.

Can you put teflon feet on the bottom like a computer mouse? Seems like that would solve the issue of scratching.

Maybe every other one should be a Decaf Vince?
Glad you're into the saw. It's cool, it is pretty pricey, but, hey, it gets the job done...
FWIW, Duct tape on the shoe will let you do some metal work and save the shoe. Some people even add a sheet of wood or plastic with #4 or #6 flat head machine screws. You haven't lived until you cut using a saw with a polyethylene shoe. Slick, especially on particle board or OSB.

    Morning Vince
Looks like a nice tool at first glance.
If you can, check out the Fein Slugger 9" The Milwaukee at first glance resemble the Slugger. When Milwaukee copied the Festool 10.5V D handle multi head cabinet drill.
I am wondering if Milwaukee maybe copied Fein and added there 18V battery to it ?
    Thanks for the video Vince.

So in short, if you are cutting wood with your circular saw don't lay it on concrete or abrasive material, and if you cut metal or concrete keep an eye on the metal shoe to make sure it won't scratch the wood while you cut it if you are making something, where the wood is going to show.

A roll of blue tape prevents my saw table from getting scratched and from making scratches. Could be a good saw for union or metal guys. If it doesn’t make daw dust I sub it out.

I mean. You can turn your blade over if you are usuing a older saw that you dont like. And use a regular blade.

I'm a metal framer and i wish i'd invested in that metal cutting circular saw...cutting light gauge goes alright but for heavy gauge using a regular circular saw made for wood as you cut the flying metal pieces sticks into your arm and make you bleed which is annoying lol
