I did a 99 New Edge auto to manual swap. My proudest moment of the whole thing was getting the clutch/brake pedal assembly in without messing with the steering column.
This may sound crazy but I swapped my 2001 Cobra from manual to auto and installed all the best bolt ons available along with gears and a 3800 stall and a plate kit. Gained almost 1 second in the 1/8th mile all motor and 60ft was 1.7. Trans was out of a 2004 Mach 1 4R75W and was built to handle 1000+hp. Haven’t upgraded CV axles so haven’t made any nitrous passes.
Autos are faster people bash the 4r75w but with the right mods its faster than the manuals people that say the autos are slow are driving them completely stock
On your clutch quadrant you might want to use some washers the same thickness of the spring that was on the old plastic quadrant to space the new quadrant to the right. There should be one washer on the side of the cotter pin as well. It is important to line the quadrant up with the cable coming through the firewall.
Im currently running auto trans on my 02 New edge, as is my daily for now and where I live traffic is terrible I plan leaving like that for now, as soon as I get another car for daily and the mustang for only project then I plan on doing this swap, Thank you for this information! it will be useful in the future.
during my swap, I found the hardest part of doing it was removing the automatic shifting cable. also remember the pushrod 5.0 and modular 4.6 use exact same flywheel the only difference is the counter balance weight make sure you use correct counter weight. U will know as soon as u start the engine the trans shifter will remain fairly still if u got it right or vibrate like heII if u got it wrong.
You forgot to mention you need to swap and flash to a 5 speed PCM. It will start on the factory automatic one but your rpm and speedo will be way off. It will redline and fuel cut at like 40mph..
99-00 are windsor engines. 01-04 are romeo. Im assuming 01-04 will use a different trans harness than 99-00 since the wiriing is completely different from a windsor to romeo car. Really loving the info on all of this though! Always wondered how hard a manual swap would be.
You don’t absolutely have to have the manual trans harness. I had it with my 5spd swap kit but I used the auto harness that was already in the car because my manual harness plug end got mashed in delivery somehow. Spliced the VSS and reverse light plug then spliced the NSS wires together. Took out all the wires I didn’t need out of the harness. Haynes manual from good ole Autozone will show you what wires are for what. You do not have to take the column out to swap the pedal assembly lol. Take the seat out, put a towel over the 15mm studs for bolting in the seat and lay on your back.
I got a great deal on my auto 2004 mach1 all blacked out with black cobra wheels for $7,500 89k miles on the speedo, great condition besides some chip marks on the paint, but it's just not as much fun compared to a manual stang. Hoping to find a good deal for a 5 speed swap maybe at a salvage yard or something.
Im literally getting ready to do this, I work at a salvage yard in Texas and I have been wanting to do this to my 04 GT. Finally got a great donor in, but I am worried about the harness. The donor is an early 01. My computer shows late 01-04 uses the same manual transmission. Im worried the early 01 I have will be too different. Idk if you have any info on this. I read a comment here that a guy used the auto harness with minor customization. Either way I will keep you posted! ....... Also, sure wish we got to see pedals and shifter hole cut!
I just did the whole swap, and it won’t crank. I could only hear the fuel pump prime, but no crank. I have a 1997 Ford Mustang Gt, and went with a 2000 mustang Gt t-45. I used my auto wiring harness and spliced in the reverse light switch. Don’t know if maybe I soldered it backwards?
I can’t believe it’s that easy🤦♂️ I swapped my 300zx and it was the exact same concept as in this video, and when my new edge auto trans blew I couldn’t find no information on how to swap it other then people saying buy a new car, so I ended up buy a built auto trans but boy do I wish I manual swapped it
Just what I was looking for, my 2001 auto keeps going into shut down mode because I had the rear gears changed out and the computer does not like that, so I thought switching to stick would solve the issue, I like the 3:27 gears in it now but computer will not take a tune with a different gear in rear end.
If you talking about dragging that auto will be faster manuals are purely for fun factor with the right supporting mods that auto will out perform that manual
Everything about how Caleb n Dover do this, is absolutely, without doubt, the easy way. I have an 03 that's standard from the factory. What he said about it being a clutch job, is dead nuts, right. Anybody that wants to swap in either direction, has to address the wiring part. Trust me, the computer DOES KNOW!!!! Im dealing with computer issues in my Ranger that's V8 swapped. The Windsor ecm's all have to be connected to what I used to call trivial and unnessecary crap. It All bit me squarely on my ass. Don't screw up and think you know better than all of Ford's engineers combined. Lmao
I have an auto 04 Mach 1 I’m planning on swapping to a manual. Did you have to do anything to the ECU and do you know if the adapter plate is the same for a 2v and 4v?
Asking cuz I'm trying to get into cars: I wanna upgrade my v6 mustang it looks like this one but silver it's a 2003, I'd like to swap out the transmission from auto to manual, only issue is 1 I can't get the car up that high with my current situation and 2 I have no clue what I'm doing. Would a shop do this for me? And for other upgrades, where would i go instead of doing some of them myself?
I snapped the shaft that goes into the T-45 that the throw out bearing rests on my 96 GT.. they had to use straps to make room to clear the bell housing with the BBK long tubes I had on the car lol
Hey man i love this build and the transition from auto to manual but if you mind answering my question on ..what transmission did you use and if im going to ls swap my o4 mustang , what transmission bolts up to that Ls motor? Your awesome!!!
I did a 99 New Edge auto to manual swap. My proudest moment of the whole thing was getting the clutch/brake pedal assembly in without messing with the steering column.
Same man, I was not about to mess with the steering column lol.
What flywheel did you use and did you have to change the pilot bearing

Always enjoy the New Fox Edge Media content, going to a manual trans, it should awesome after it's done.

He probably knows. But said fuck it after realizing it.

Do I have to change mine computer as well ?
I have always wondered what this would entail and have never seen a video on it, foxcast media coming in CLUTCH again

coming it part II
I always love a manual swap!
Manuals are definitely more fun.
I love those SVE wheels on that pony!
Bro, me too!
@@FoxcastMedia 😂😂😂

Actually you have it backwards! 95-98 were Romeo blocks and the later 99-10 are Windsor. I’ve had multiple crown Vics and can attest to this.
Another thing 99-01 had a t45 and mid 01 ford put in the tr3650

Hey i am currently doing this swap and would like to get some info from you on how exactly you did this
Plan to manual swap my auto v6 mustang to get it ready for a v8. I did research for it but I plan to have help with it. Ill be saving this video!

Nice job
The 4r70s are good with the right supporting mods.
How can you do a rear gear switch will with auto, computer don't like that.
Did you have to use the manual ecu before you fired it up ? And dud you find a 6 bolt flywheel ?
What flywheel did u put in ?
I can’t believe it’s that easy🤦♂️ I swapped my 300zx and it was the exact same concept as in this video, and when my new edge auto trans blew I couldn’t find no information on how to swap it other then people saying buy a new car, so I ended up buy a built auto trans but boy do I wish I manual swapped it
do you have to deal with any computer/ electrical issues, ie reprogramming etc..
It's a 4r70w you can tell by the w on the tail
Just what I was looking for, my 2001 auto keeps going into shut down mode because I had the rear gears changed out and the computer does not like that, so I thought switching to stick would solve the issue, I like the 3:27 gears in it now but computer will not take a tune with a different gear in rear end.
do you still have the built auto transmission for that GT...? Please hmu if you do.
sure wish you would have went to the track or got some dragy times for a before and after comparison.
Unfortunately it wouldnt be fair because the car wasn't tuned for the built trans/converter
I have a 2001 Mustang GT, I really love it but it is automatic and I would like to make it manual to enjoy it more than what mustang could I use?
Now you're talking...new edge!. I looked for the second video on this red car. Couldn't find it.
What headers are those ?
How much power will this add from powertrain loss of the auto
Ok once you finish the swap you have to actually put Cherry Bomb mufflers on it. Yes I'm being sarcastic but it still would be funny.
If you talking about dragging that auto will be faster manuals are purely for fun factor with the right supporting mods that auto will out perform that manual

I have a 05 v6 auto would this be about the same way ?
Do u still have the automatic transmission and flexplate still
I have a manual transmission on my 94 working fine. I'll trade you for that automatic for the Wifey's car??
What's the cost of the swap if i had somebody do it for me
What brand clutch cable do you recommend?
They are all about the same, but this one is from BBK
Will any manual harness for even for a t56 or do i need to get a t56 harness
Do u have to change the ecu ?
Where does the clutch safety/ neutral safety switch plug in?
Hell Yeah!!!
Did you have to mess with the ecm?
How much would it be for me to do this to my 2004 mustang 🤔?
I did this swap and keep getting a bank 1 sensor 1 code, Changed the sensor with a denso, Still have the code?
Not sure on that one...
I have an auto 04 Mach 1 I’m planning on swapping to a manual. Did you have to do anything to the ECU and do you know if the adapter plate is the same for a 2v and 4v?
So I have a question I have a 2003 gt manual engine and transmission but no engine wiring harness would a wiring harness from a automatic work
I would like to do that to my 1998 GT
Should be similar to do in your 98
What year did the transmission come out of?
Just doing a T-45 or is the TR 3650? Manual?
Its a 3650

how I can contact?
So how did you deal with putting a 8 bolt flywheel on the 6 bolt crank?
Prob had to find a different flywheel.
Using the auto computer?
Was curious on this as well… or will they simply program out the automatic ?
Yes, using the tuner to remove the auto functions in the PCM
@@FoxcastMedia can we get a how to on removing the auto functions or list the steps please?
Part 2?
Are u close to pa I will pay u to swap my 99 gt I will travel please lmk!
I thought the new edge was still fox body chassis...???
Yes sir, it is, up to 2004
Lmao this a video I been wanting to see
Biggest headache is the starter. My 96 was a pain lol

The tubular k member helps a ton
@@FoxcastMedia that it will. Child support comes first tho otherwise I would have one in there already🤣
What rims are those on the 2v?
Looks like SVE Series 3 wheels
Bronze SVE Series 3 from LMR
Ty guys! They're outa stock atm grrr. . Loox really good on yours 👍
Who’s faster a auto trans or a manual
In these cars I think manual. In newer cars almost always auto.
Hey man i love this build and the transition from auto to manual but if you mind answering my question on ..what transmission did you use and if im going to ls swap my o4 mustang , what transmission bolts up to that Ls motor? Your awesome!!!
You should just pay someone to do your swap if you lack those few simple things
Man them Wheels got to go. In order to run them Wheels you got to have a sign on the back that says got (Rice) on it!
auto to manual transmission a 2010 ford mustang gt
Love the content though. I didn't want to sound like a complete donkey!!!
