People do, usually they bring it to the con just to show it off, and it goes to auctions later on. These books sell really well in their market. Highest selling comic was $3.6mil being a Superman #1

Now the fact they sell comics in a not so secured area would be sketchy on top of the fact that the prices can be bargained for
The price the guy is asking for the Turtles book is preposterous. That book at that grade is worth half of what he's asking. A lot of these guys are banking on older, wealthy geeks who want to show off by buying this stuff. God knows were that boy pulled that Turtles price from.
When I was a kid I’d love to look at the mile high ads. I knew the value in those old comics but didn’t have the cash to buy any of them. Like Amazing Spider-Man #1 mint condition was around 4K and so on. I tried to convince my parents to buy them for me but they just laughed.

In 2005 my wife & I went to a Chicago comicon & saw a raw AF#15 in like 8.5 condition for $90k. I wanted to call up my employer to get it outta my 401(k). My wife even thought I should do it. I wasn't ready with the cash. That one hurts to reminisce on it.
yeah i still have mine just in regular plastic & board & i still read it sometimes.. It's more in the $1500 range MINT. Anything more is wishful thinking.. Anyone paying full price is 1 in a million rare..
I’ve come to find that usually the reason for these being so expensive is because they’re basically shelf decoration, they’re so over valued so that no one will buy them so they can continue to draw attention to the booth
I couldn't help but notice that too! Im only 1 year and some months into seriously collecting, buying, and occasionally reselling comics, I'm by all means new into this hobby. But even I know a second ghost rider appearance does not go for 35k; even in a 9.8 condition! It's not like it's a ghost rider volume 1, issue #1 comic in a 9.8, and even then it would definitely not be anywhere near being worth 30k.
