    Thank you
    Hey guys, so here is a step by step on how to replace oil pan gasket on BMW e9x, it is also very similar to 128i, 328i, 528i (n51, n52 engine) and identical on 135i and 535i (n54 engine). It is pretty difficult job so watch the video first before starting the job and decide for yourself if you can handle it.
    Thank you for watching, if you have any questions ask in the comments

    Man, I must say THANK YOU SO MUCH, over this past weekend I did my son's 335is oil pan, I did remove everything on Friday and put all back together on Sunday following your direction on this video, everything went very well, The oil pan was a bit difficult to remove and put it back in place, but I already knew that from your video, Thanks a million for this video really priceless for many people including myself, you Sr saved me a few thousand dollars.

    You can use zip ties to hold the gasket to the pan then just cut and remove them after you get a couple bolts started.

    This video helped quite a lot for my successful oil pan gasket replacement on an e92 335i. i like the 3 bolt trick on install! Thank you very much for your super helpful contribution to the community! It's also a bit easier on a 6mt as there are less trans oil lines in the way and i was able to get to all bolts fairly easily from underneath with wobble extensions.

    Thank you very much for this Video. It really helped me changing my gasket on an N53 Motor. You are right, it was even easier than with your N54 Engine here. Didn't have to remove the fan and the belts (electric steering support also eased it up). What I needed to do additionally was to disconnect the steering shaft, only with this I was able to wriggle out the oil pan. Greetings from Germany :-)

    I’m not going to lie this is a great video for anyone trying to get into the field. as a automotive tech is would have been best to hold then engine and to removed the entire sub-frame down to have more access to the oil pan without the struggle of the sub-frame in the way of things.just wanted to troughs that out there.

    • @Zeiten

    • @Zeiten

    Hi again, Tim.
    Question: I have the same engine support bar that you used here on order. Do you see any issues using it on a 2008 128i to do this oil pan gasket job?
    I'm uneasy about the engine support bar feet and where they will rest on the front fender inside ledges. Can this take the weight of the engine without causing deflection/damage to the body.
    Thanks! I hope it has stopped raining in California. Looks crazy there.

    If you're still responding to questions here... girlfriend has a 335xi that I fix. In the comments, you wrote that it's much harder but also said you had a trick that made it much easier? Is it still required to drop subframe and deal with transmission? Can you describe the trick? Thx... excellent video BTW... amazing you could do all that on your back.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  11 місяців тому

      It’s not a trick exactly, just a technique i use, on all wheel drive bmws to replace oil pan gasket you’ll have to not only drop subframe but completely remove it, then with all proper support you’ll be able to lower oil pan with attached front differential and replace the gasket, it’s not easy job by any means and i must warn you it is dangerous, proper support at multiple points is absolutely necessary. This technique will save a lot of time since you won’t have to remove front axles, differential and front drive shaft

    • @ijdad99
      @ijdad99 11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the quick reply. So if I understand, you leave axles attached to the steering knuckles... leave them attached to the front diff. Then just lower the oil pan enough to remove the old gasket and put in the new one? So it all stays up high in the vehicle?
      I'm guessing that to remove the subframe, you have to remove the control arm bolts. Is that all? I'll watch other videos to see if I can piece it together. But I might just remove the axles and front diff to not mess it all up. It's starting to sound a bit spooky.

      No, all wheel drive is a different story, we’ll shoot it some time, you’ll have to fully remove subframe that’s a first, then either remove axles, differential, front drive shaft or there is another way, you can just spend some extra time on removing oil pan bolts with differential and axles still attached and then oil pan will drop more than enough to replace the gasket

      Yes it’s even easier on 325i e90, you won’t need to remove power steering pump and over all have more room to work

      @@robhughes8516 No, he is good and I have learned a lot from him. Always appreciate and enjoy his work and willingness to show. Just doing it on street in CALIFORNIA, especially in LA, is asking for trouble from police. At least he can do it on owner's parking space or driveway or garage. I do appreciate the mobile service he provides as no one like to take cars to shop and wait and wait.

      @@Zeiten Are the bolts aluminum?

    • @seanpaul3050
      @seanpaul3050 3 роки тому

      Most likely the bolts are aluminum. If the bolts on your particular car are aluminum, then definitely fit new ones. These bolts are angle torqued. Which means they are stretched when fully torqued. They are likely to snap in half if used again. Sometimes they snap just when removing them. Which is why i would not do this job at the side of a public freeway.
      You might not be able to finish the job in one day if a bolt snaps.
      Also you do not want to be under a car on a busy freeway when some idiot playing with his cell phone drives straight into the back of your parked car.
      I guess that is a mistake you will only make once in your life. Lol.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  3 роки тому

      Absolutely not true, just a load of bs, do those bolts break sometimes - yes of course i have personally replaced hundreds of those gaskets and once in a very long while bolts break (angle torqued - wtf is this?😂) that doesn’t mean you should go ahead and replace all of them, not necessary at all but if you are worried and want to make sure everything goes as planned of course buy those bolts

    • @seanpaul3050
      @seanpaul3050 3 роки тому

      @@Zeiten aluminium bolts are one time use. For the sake of a few bucks I would replace those bolts as specified by BMW in the TIS manual. You do not want to do this job twice.
      If the bolts were easily accessible you might take a chance because you know you can replace them later if you need to. But not for this job.
