Here is the most common transmission service for zf 6hp19/21 which was installed into many cars and many bmws coupled with different engines. This procedure applies to: 2006-2013 bmw 3 series (E9x), 2007-2012 bmw 1 series (E82), 2002-2008 bmw 7 series (E65, E66), 2009-2013 bmw 7 series (F01, F02), 2004-2010 bmw 6 series (E63, E64), 2004-2010 bmw 5 series (E60, E61), 2007-2013 bmw x5, x6 (E70, E71)
Thank you for watching
This is definitely one of the best, if not the best vdo I've seen regarding trans maintenance...especially vdo quality/angles...my input to anyone doing this for the first time is: 1)make sure the fill plug is loose before starting anything...vibration is your friend, so use the allen key he used, but use a rubber hammer to tap it loose(make sure the end in the plug is thoroughly inserted or you can strip it) 2)yes, remove the exhaust bracket...it will give your hand more agility to secure the mechunit power connector 3)do not use powertools, accidents can happen(cracking, snapping) 4)if you are doing the job alone(and using jack stands instead of lifts), use a jack w/a rubber pad to lower/raise valve body/mechunit(easier to remove/install bolts)...this also works when installing the pan, by holding the pan in place before fastener insertion(especially if you change to an aluminum pan for the ZF) 5)and lastly, when turning on the vehicle, shift through the gears(3sec intervals up&down)...by shifting/sucking the fluid throughout the trans/torque converter, you get a more accurate fill estimate...otherwise, you could experience rough shifting afterwards(even if a little low)...but I definitely appreciate, not only the time, but whoever helps w/the camera work...bcuz I know I don't have the patience.
Hey bro @zeiten - you missed the tightening sequence of the valve body. There is a procedure and specific order for that. Also, they should be torqued
Wow the best tutorial I have seen on UA-cam doing a service on the bmw zf 6hp transmission. Thank you for your time to make this video. You cover everything including fluid alternative to expensive oem. The Best.
Happy to help, appreciate your feedback thank you🙌
A master at work, !! he know his BMW !! 100-100 excellent video and great Knowledge!! that why i follow this guy !! ty
Thank you👍👌
Torque values are ; 8nm for valve body, 10nm for sump screws ( criss cross pattern ) , 8nm for sump drain plug, 35 nm for fill plug. first topping up after replacing sump, start engine before second topping up, after selecting each gear for five to ten seconds WHILE PARKING BRAKE ON, and while trans fluid between 35 to 40 degrees CELCIUS. regards ;)
Can you suggest a torque wrench that is easy to use, as in easy to input the proper torque without room for error? Thank you.
Hey David you should get a pump up bug sprayer to fill transmissions that way you don't have to wear your arm out filling them. just get a metal bug sprayer and adapt a hose. AST makes an adaptor kit for filling transmissions.
Amazing video as always. I did it, and that plug sleeve is definitely the hardest part, really need to be patient with seating it. Thank you !!
Great to hear👍
bruh. where did you get that hydraulic jack? awesome. Is that an HP19 trans?
you are 1 of my heroes man,
you are one of my heroes man, no cut no edit.
Good point ! Agreed - it’s remarkable !
I just did this today. FYI for anyone with x-drive, the drain plug is hidden by the front drive shaft. I could not get to it, not sure how you would. I ended up disconnecting the driveshaft from the transfer case. Wasn't difficult, and allowed plenty of clearance, but you aren't supposed to reuse the bolts, so I will be getting some and torqueing to 20 NM + 45 degrees. Another thing, as referenced in the video, the drain plug is extremely tight. I ended up using my torque wrench, luckily didn't break it. I also ended up breaking the head off of one of the transmission pan screws, so be very careful when you are installing them.
Hi Joe, I have the same problem on a 2012. There is another plug on opposite side at the back, but it is really hard to get at, almost impossible to see and runs close to the exhaust pipes. I will try to fill there, but filling and securing the plug with the car running might not be possible and I will end up taking the front driveshaft off. Joe, did you tempoarily reuse your bolts? Where did you get replacements. Are the bolts in shear or is there some engagement to the drive shaft? Just curious.
I can see how painful is to install that sleeve. I think I am going to mark the position of the old one, just draw a line cross the old sleeve, electronic connector and the housing before remove it. Then draw a line on the new one at the same position as the old one before put it on. This way, I can position the new one perfectly aligned with the connector and housing.
You can try, still expect it to be no easy task, the difficulty is not with alignment actually you’ll find out pushing it all the way in is problematic so make sure you lube those o-rings😉
You The Man! Excellent instructor! I have the GM GA6L45R transmission im guessing same refill instructions?
Im at the end of i10 east Jacksonville Florida
P.S. i now say "be patient don't break anything" ...lol
Thank you, yes same filling process although everything else is different in regards of seals filter etc
Love to content, your videos have been a great help.
In this trans service is it necessary to disconnect the battery.
Thanks again, keepem coming.
No, battery disconnection is not necessary at all
@@Zeiten Thanks for the quick response! I did the transmission fluid and filter at 40,000 miles, it’s now got 80,000 miles and I’m gonna do the complete service as explained in the video.
I’ll say it again, your videos and a great help with maintaining the 335. Thanks a bunch, look forward to seeing new videos.
Any reason to reset adaptation values?
A great detailed instruction for this ZF auto transmission. Really enjoyed watching and learning from you. As a DIYer considering this job on my 2008 E90 auto, I appreciate the camera positions, commentary and patience along the way - invaluable to understand the process and likely difficulties beforehand.
I'd probably use a torque wrench for reassembly, but have seen various settings for this from 5Nm, 8Nm to 10Nm for the pan bolts - which one is it!? Also, are there torque specs for the valve body bolts? Thank you.
why you dont remove gearbox mount while changing the sleeve ? :) isnt it easier?
Would the mec seal cause a Jerky 3rd to 4th gear change?
if you have an Xdrive, you need to take of the front wheels driveshaft for filling the transmission
ALWAYS check and loosen the fill hole plug first! PB blast it first!
Noob question but this transmission only exists on automatic bmws correct ? I own a 328xi 2007 6 speed Manuel with a n52 and cannot seem to find any image of this transmission box I assume the Manuel one does not have this box to be serviced ? Thank you very much
Great video, i have 120k i dont know if the previous owner change fluid , what i need oil pan and oil for service ? It works pretty fine the gearbox . Thanks
@zeiten what a pro. I wish you were local in PA. My 2011 335 auto shifts hard from first to second only- I also hear a weird squeak also at t he same time. Do you think its seals? I guess im confused how do you know if your seals or solenoids is problem. If your doing seals is it worth doing solenoids too? Im at 100K miles. Car never abused, tracked- i only had a MHD S1 on it, surprised the trans is acting up being i hardly drive it hard.
General rule is to do this service every 60k miles (fluid, all seals etc) as for solenoids if solenoid is faulty it will throw a code if the there are no codes in egs then no reason to replace solenoids
The part when you were reinstalling the bolts, do you have to make sure its bolted down with a torque wrench?
Should the trans fluid be change when the car is cold or hot
This is a great instructional video. I don't think I need to replace all seals, but I guess I don't know until I get in there. The car is at 120K miles, should I replace the sleeve and valves? I do not have any slippage. Also, you did that on a quickjack. It's ok to run the car while on the quickjack using the rubber blocks?
I’d do just main mechatronic seal and yes it’s ok to run the car on quickjack or jack stands
How hard is it to change the gear selector switch? Mine is throwing code 5088 and the transmission shop said I need to change the whole mechatronic. I saw online they sell just the switch..
Great video. Thanks
Great video. My transmission is slipping and thinking it may be the megatronic seal. Not sure if the transmission fluid has ever been replaced. Think ok to do this service at 170k?
Yes as long as you don't flush it
Hi Tim - Have you used the REIN Transmission Service Kit - TSK0015 for a BMW X5? What are you thoughts over a ZF service kit. I'm looking to buy it and wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
Rein is a known brand and delivers pretty good quality products although I usually use it in coolant systems I would stick with zf for transmission work
Great video You save me money💪💪
Glad to hear it🙌
Hey I like the pump you use for the ATF, can you post the link so I can buy it? Thanks!!
You can get it in any autoparts store or online just type transmission hand pump
Hi Team , i have a BMW e84 fron 2011 with 36.000 km (22k miles ).Do you recomend to change the fluid and filter or to wait to increased the odometer?
Every 60k miles is standard recommendation, no need to do it so much earlier
42:53 how did you know it was up to temp? Did u use ista or did u just set a timer
Little dog behind looks nice..lol anyways nice video thanks for uploaing
Great video, don't understand why so many negative comments, if you don't like it don't follow it. I have one question, how did you obtain the oil temp between 30 and 50C on the second refill? I assume using a scan tool?
Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it. Regarding temperature if you don’t have a scanner with live data for transmission temperature then consider your outside temperature for example if it’s 20C outside that’s the temperature of your trans fluid once you start the car wait about 5 mins and start filling (at this point temperature will be about 30C) by the time you are done it won’t pass 50C mark
@@Zeiten appreciate your response. Keep up the great work, I would definitely use your service but the flight costs to Australia might be a little too much ;).
😁😁😁
Tim, love your videos! I watched so many of them to do preventative maintenance on my 2009 BMW X5. I filled in a little more than 3 liters at first, and then I saw that the oil started to drip out, so then I started up the car to warm it up to around 35 Celcius; I kept on filling up the transmission and used up 7 liters, but no oil dripped out after the 7 liters. I wonder if I should buy another liter of transmission oil to fill it up? One thing to note is that I left the machtronic off for 2 days because I noticed that I was missing one of the replacement machtronic sleeve, so I had to get rush shipment for a new one before reinstalling everything, so not sure if thats the reason why it needs more than 7 liters of oil? My car was level the whole time I was filling it up too.
Yes get another quart without mechatronic more fluid comes out
@@Zeiten awesome. Thank you sir!
Filled it up 7.4 quarts total! Thanks Tim 🙏
Happy to help😉
Are these transmissions over-engineered ?
Great video man!!!
What kind of lift did you use for the job? It looks extremely handy
That is ranger quick jack, awesome tool
I have a 2011 750li does it have this seal?
Hi sir question i have a bmw x5 e70 2012 n55 engine with 119k miles i bought transmission fluid service kit from fcp euro is it true that is not safe to change the fluid since the car is already high mileage car people keep telling me not do it ?
No it won’t hurt it, 120k miles is not that much
Thanks, but did you really just impact those sump bolts in? Torque is really only 10Nm. 😂😂😂
Hi
Is there any reason to reset the adaptation values?
Not really, car will learn on it’s own
@Zeiten thanks again, I wish I could personally thank you. Your experience and advice is invaluable!!
Great video I would like to do it by my self when I start the oil change do I leave it in position P(parking)
Yes, just follow step by step
Luv ur vids saved me lots of money in past, I have ,528i BMW 2008 , after replacing tranny fluid and tranny will I need to code anything to the car logically I don't think so because I'm not moving any electronic components but these cars are very sensitive so just making sure before I attempt to do job
Nothing needs to be coded it’s a load of bs even if you replace solenoids
@@Zeiten I agree brother thank you so much for answering you have no idea how much your videos mean to me I was terrified of even looking at the car a few years ago now I'm not nearly as good as you but I can do a lot of things that I thought I could never do.
Do you think Valvoline Maxi life for import vehicles for transmission fluid would be okay or should I just stick with ZF fluids?
Well i can tell you this: transmission in good condition will run fine on olive oil😉😁
no torque values, no range temperatures given for topping off...really need to know this, plus hand was in the way when showing how to change seals...Don't get me wrong if you've done a thousand of them there's no need to know the specs...but a lot of us only do a half dozen or less.
torque values are ; 8nm for valve body, 10nm for sump screws ( criss cross pattern ) , 8nm for sump drain plug, 35 nm for fill plug. first topping up after replacing sump, second topping up, after selecting each gear for five to ten seconds WHILE PARKING BRAKE ON, and while trans fluid between 35 to 40 degrees CELCIUS. regards ;)
Sir, transmission faulty problem suffering after change torque converter seal and oil pan ......also more acceleration speed 100km/h above disengaged gear and transmission faulty on display........what was problem sir pls reply 🙏🏻
Scan for codes, impossible to diagnose anything without seeing it first hand, can’t even navigate you anywhere without a single piece of data, can be a million different reasons
Don't need to reset the transmission adaptations when the job is done?? (final step)
Nope, not necessary
great video
Thanks
Whats a reasonable price for labor to do this job ? Awesome video
Depends on your location, here in California we charge 650$ parts and labor, dealer will charge at least double as well as some shops some will charge half of it, there is no middle ground always do your own research
Where in California are you located?
Los Angeles
do you recommend changing the seals under the mechatronic at each oil change?
Yep, since you can do it every 60k miles
Dotažení sroubu mechatronic moment ??Proradit transmise front revers ?
Huh?
can I use redline d4 atf transmission oil ?
How much did you charge for this service? Parts and labor?
Good job thank you
He charges $650 labor only. Parts through FCPEuro are $349 I believe.
How do you know of the first sleeve is bad?
Just look at it, dry - no leak, oily - leaking
I am going to replace the pan and fluid on my Hyundai genesis coupe 3.8l and it has the zf 6hp19 6 speed tranny. After watching your vid I feel like I can and should replace the mech seal. I see a lot of aftermarket kits on amazon for 27 bucks. Do these cheaper kits last? , Or should I spend the 140 dollars for the ZF kit? Thanks. Great vid by the way 😜
Go for zf kit, cheap stuff will fail 100%
@@Zeiten Thanks for the quick response. I bought a OE bmw part so should be good. I would think you could put the mechatronic seal back in on the valve body and then press it up to the base to seal it or should I put it on the base and then press the valve body up to it when I re insert it? Will be partially dropping the valve body like you showed in your video Thanks man......you saved me a lot of money with this excellent DIY instruction vid.
Just cancelled the OE bmw part and reordered the ZF part just to be sure I am replacing a quality part. Thanks for your help.
Absolutely, great job bro. I’m a great mechanic as well.
Thanks 👍
Do you recommend changing transmission fluid I got 120 on mine
Would be a good idea, also replace mechatronic seal (square looking)
Just for service on my 328, I’m wondering if should swap fluids, ya know they say sealed so don’t touch as you know
@@Zeiten does not matter what series, you recommend service on all. I changed my Gm vehicle and had issues with, just would freak out if had trouble with my 328, and also boss you’re videos are crazy cool, such big help
Well if transmission is running good then after transmission service it will be good as well, if there are issues and high mileage the results might be worse, I recommend servicing transmission every 60k miles and it will be always in good shape. Lifetime fluid doesn’t last more than 100-120k miles (lifetime = till warranty is over)
@@Zeiten thanks boss
Hi Tim
How can I contact you for this service ?
I live in Anaheim CA
Send email, zeitenllc@gmail.com
Where are you located? I need this service.
Servicing Los Angeles area
@@Zeiten ever come to the San Diego area? My issue with my E60 525 xi it sometimes slips in first then revves high then once I let off the peddle it catches the next gear and runs fine thru every other gear. No check engine codes
@betonthis1 have you pulled data from EGS (transmission control module)?
@@Zeiten I haven't. I know the engine codes were good. I don't know where to go to get that done without taking it to a mechanic
@betonthis1 you need proper scanner that can read each module individually, if you just pulling generic p-codes it won’t tell much, transmission codes don’t always register through just obd2 generic codes
Hi Tim, again i look at this video 100--100 !!my vehicle 2013 x5 35i 3.0 turbo, has 190 thousand kilometers and i was going to do my transmission change ,is it ok to use LifeGuardFluid 8 Transmission is this ok to use in my GA8HP45Z transmission??? i read here that a person had problems with shifting after using this fluid, what are your thoughts input??? Also my vehicle has a "plastic pan and filter kit on it now. i was going to use a kit # ÜRO PARTS 24118612901PRM HD Aluminum Upgrade, Cooling Fins, Replaceable Filter; Includes Filter Kit Info xDrive35i; For Automatic Transmission GA8HP45Z and GA8HP70Z from Rockauto, would this be ok, ?? again i do not have any leaks a from the mecatronic electrical connector or any type of slipping or shifting issues.... so should i drop the valvebody and do all these seals that you did here in this video?? ty again in advance for your help
That’s a zf transmission and it is the best option to use zf lifeguard 8 fluid, don’t touch valve body just drain remove and replace oil pan with built in filter and refill, that’s it. Use zf parts those 8 speed transmissions are kind of picky especially for fluid
Hi Tim, thanking you so much for your invaluable prompt input! yes ZF LIFEGUARD 8 It will be! i am/thinking of changing out the plastic pan to a URO Rock auto aluminum one ( with a replaceable filter) so i can do it again (filter and oil in the future of 50 thousand miles) thank you again Tim for your guidance and input !!@@Zeiten
@battlehrfred as i said keep it zf all the way, there isn’t any benefit really for using aluminum oil pan in fact it’s very possible that it will start leaking sooner (much sooner) plastic oil pan as well as lets say valve covers absorb vibrations and micro movements of components and seals last longer this way
thank you for your response and input! makes sense true. ok ty tim will do!!100@@Zeiten
Where can I find you
We service Los Angeles area, you’ll easily find contact info on google or yelp
I try to subscribe with you, didn’t allow me??
Master mechanic would have removed the full plug first before draining.
Its true as a precautionary measure and habit to remove the fill plug prior to removing the drain plug, but not much difference for this Master mechanic!
MM can get it off no matter.
@@dgaz3057 that’s not the point
@@itb1820 oh there's a point?
@@dgaz3057 yes
Man you really need not to just rely on the car jack put safety stands up as well
Smh. Didn’t properly torque a single bolt. “Master mechanic”😂
Sorry but there is NO WAY I would let this guy work on my cars. Handling everything with disgusting drenched gloves. Careless and not clean at all. Rarely see him torque anything to spec. He claims he can feel the proper torque. People don't buy precision engineering for someone to guess later. What a joke!
😂😂
at least he is honest. if you think that they are working like scientists on your cars, when you gave them to dealerships, or any garage for repair, then you are wrong. at least he is not using impact gun. thats enough reason to choose him :D :D
Would this fix a shift going back to P and staying in limp mode? My mechanic charged 2700 for the whole valve body replacement and I know it’s only the sleeves or solenoid but not the whole valve body? Thank you
I don’t see any reason to replace whole valve body since it’s just a mechanical unit (a web of labyrinths where solenoids push fluid), 95% of problems are solved by replacing mechatronic seal, mechatronic sleeve doesn’t cause any issues usually unless it’s leaking transmission fluid, and if there is a code for solenoids only then they will have to be replaced which is quite rare
@@Zeiten I had a code 4E90 “Regulatory valve pressure 7” no mechanic is willing to help unless I pay a lot and I know if I do it with your amazing guide it can fix the problem. Thanks for the reply I appreciate any feedback and will be ordering the sleeves. Even tho my wife wants to give up completely and forget about the car since it broke down 3 times from other random causes in 4 months that we got it.
With this code you’ll need solenoids
@@Zeiten changing solenoid kit, sleeves and oil would solve the problem? I don’t want to spend a lot then it breaks down lol thank you so much.
Well without inspection it’s impossible to say, I can’t guarantee you anything without doing the check up, I’m not psychic😂 usually it solves the issue, also what year and model is your car?
Once again bro outstanding job love all the videos, wish you was on the East coast , I tried to get two thumbs up but it wouldn't let me 😂
Thank you, appreciate the feedback 👍
Thanks, great video.
Tim,once again a great video..Quote me on how much to come to Australia and you can do mine and bring your surfboard or golf clubs haha
Dude! Your videos keep helping me. I have a 2008 328i with the GM transmission you mentioned - I'm getting the error in the display and changed the fluid and filter hoping that would be enough, but it wasn't. So I'll do the seals, which apparently some are different than the Z-transmission. QUESTION: is there any adaptation steps, or errors that have to be cleared even after successfully replacing everything? Thx!
Also, do you have a way subscribers can donate? You saved me so much money just from your valve cover gasket replacement video, it's more than worth donating.
GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!!!! question I literally two days ago had a transmission malfunction shifting from 3 to 4th slipping does not want to go into 4th ( 1 to 2 all good , 2 to 3 all good , 5 to 6 all good and down shifts from 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 to1 all good) vehicle is a 2008 535xi almost 270,000 kms on it . any thoughts?
if im driving and it hiccups from 3rd to 4th , and when I get the fault if I clear it right away while driving and shift to 5th its all good in 5th and easy shift into 6th . then all the down shifts from 6 ---> 1 from there are fine no issues ... this is so weird 😠 I wanna change my solenoiods but dont know what kit to get for my 2008 (03/2008) 535xi e60 im not exactly sure what tranmission i have as real oem says 6hp19 one thing and others say another adn ZF i think says 6hp21x ... Im so confused i just wanna get the right solenoid kit for my car and change out them along with sleeves and fluid and filter
Try to loosen the fill up bolt first , just to make sure it opens before draining all the oil . Second is to avoid breaking the bolts by using a ratchet to loosen the bolts then to use power tool to fully loosen , NOTE . when tighten with a high force the oil pan can bend & leak , use a torgue wrench to tighten with proper pressure , overall great job 👍
He's "master mechanic" he knows all this😅
@@XSickBastardzXHe didn't check the fill bolt first. If that's seized, and you have drained the fluid you are in the brown stuff.

Been in the automotive business for 15+ years myself, great DIY but with a few advise. For a "BMW Certified" tech not to be using torque specs (or announcing them for your viewers)to tighten the Mechatronic is pretty unprofessional not matter how many service jobs your have done. Not using proper torque specs on critical parts of the drivetrain (especially the mechatronics) can cause catastrophic failure, as I am sure you know as a "professional".
Here are the Torque specs for those who care:
10Nm for Oil Pan bolts
8Nm for all Mechatronic bolts
8Nm Oil pan drain plug
35Nm Filler Bolt
**
DONOT USE ZF LifeguardFluid
can cause transmission slippage, harsh shifting, noise, lock-up
clutch cycling
Good Luck.
What is the better fluid? I just did mine and it does seem to slip with Lifeguard.
@@jefflarocque3146 ive used Valvoline. No issues.
Great comment man, hope ppl see it.
This video is from an amateur.
Hey brother can you recommend a good torque wrench that is easy to use, as in easy to input the proper torque specs with no room for error? Thanks in advance.
I thought it's recommended to use zf lifeguard fluid?
4f8d code (ratio monitoring gearshift 5-4) - rarely happens, only under oper. temp. (happened 5 times in a year). Sometimes it jerks when coming to a stop, or when changing P to D to R etc. Clutch pressure below from -20 to 70 mbar except Clutch E at 260 Mbar and slowly climbing.
Fluid and pan has been changed last 5k miles but it didn't help much.
Any suggestions for next step? Does this sound like a seal issue, solenoids or something major requiring complete overhaul?
Thanks!
Great video. I'm glad you did the same thing on my 740 on time. 140K on it and still running great.
How’s your 740 running a year later and how many miles is it at now?
Great video, any torque specifications for the procedure? Maybe I did not hear them .
Nice little Fluid pump hack is a $12 deck sprayer pump . This also gives u a hand trigger for better fluid control !! Thank me later 😅
Do I need to unplug the transmission connector if I just need to sneak in the seal in between the valve body and case ? I do not have any external leaks. Thank you so much for this video 💯
No, watch the video carefully I actually show how to do it
@@Zeiten Thank you for your reply. You are so generous with your knowledge on these hard to understand transmission's . God bless you son
Happy to help🙌
Hi, where can you buy such an oil pump, do you have a link? very good job
You can get it in any autoparts store, just a regular hand pump. Thanks for feedback🙌
Hi Tim, I had my 2008 bmw x5 3.0si over 2 yrs now & never had ZF transmission serviced. Not sure if previous owner had it serviced. No slipping or anything. I was told by the dealer that they don’t do oil service on them. Any recommendations much appreciated
I will probably do the transmission service on e70 x5 in near future, my advice if it is under 150k miles then service it, zf transmissions need to be serviced just because of mechatronic seals
Im about to do this job on my e90. I ran over a huge rock that was unavoidable and most of my fluid leaked out. I will be doing new pan and fluid. thanks for the good video.
I found your video on the transmission service very informative - this service is something I have to do on my 2008 bmw 520D. I ask you the following question please. I shall be doing this off my driveway - what height did you lift the car to ? Did you use axle stands all round or ramps at front end and axle stands at the rear. As you say - the car has to be level to refill. best regards - barry lichfield uk.
Thank you very much ......
U are legend ...👍👍👍
🙌🙌
Extraordinary detail ! Super helpful !! I learned lots !!!
Thanks mate 👊🏼
Can this procedure be used fort an E84? Also, Do you recommend the the car be level to the ground and not pitched?
Yes and yes
you dont need to switch P, R, D, M1M2M3M4M5M6 while its warm up?
Not necessary at all
Is there any difference between in this process with the ZF 6HP26? I have a 2010 Genesis 4.6 with this transmission and want to change the fluid.
No, it will be the same, the only difference as far as I remember is oil pan will be slightly different shape
Another outstanding video with great information. You are making taking care of my 08 E93 335i much easier and affordable. Thank you. I do have to redo my OPG again. For some reason it still leaked at the right rear even before I started the engine. I must have pinched the gasket during install.
Thank you, happy to help😉
How did you stop leak ? Added another gasket ?
@@dsales2011 I redid the gasket only to have the oil drip still present. Further investigation revealed it was the rear main seal oozing down along the engine to the area where I saw the oil. The PCV valve failed and under boost pushed the rear main seal out of its grove. That job was a bit intimidating but I was able to pull the transmission and replace the seal and no more leak. I took my time and with all 4 corners up on jack stands and the engine supported I was able to get it repaired without a problem.

I have 4f89 code, will this fix it? It stays in 3rd gear, or am I better of swapping out the trans? Any help
Is appreciated 🙌🏽
There is a big chance it will, although not 100%, i would do it if i were you
Very good video about the transmission service 👍
I have the oil from the dealer also gasket and filter
WELL DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the total cost of that service?
hi great video, where i can buy that transfer pump
Pretty much any autoparts store (if you are talking about hand pump to get fluid in)
Thank you
How can you check if is low on transmission fluid??
By opening fill up plug while transmission is between 30 and 50C, if fluid comes out it’s full and if not then it’s low
How you check temperature if you don’t have inpa/insta?
Well first of all there are plenty bmw scanners that show live data with all metrics (icarsoft bm800 v2.0 is great) secondly people pay too much attention to this temperature gap, if you are slightly below it like (25-27c) nothing will happen at all you’ll fill it up exactly the same and at last take outside temperature and consider with car running transmission warms up 5c, not sure how accurate it is but from my experience that’s usually how long it takes
My BMW 09 328i

Okay
How much do you charge for the transmission fluid service on a 09bmw 328i
Showing how to reset the transmission oil service intervals to prevent the oil wear code would be very helpful.
Where are you located ?
