Glad that I found your video. I have been wanting to taste my favorite Japanese dish of Katsudonburi. I used to order it every time I went to a certain Japanese restaurant in Misawa, Japan. Last I ate it was in 1978. Your recipe comes out looking just like what I remember except mine had fried pork with the same type of coating or batter on the outside. I am going to gather up the ingredients and try it out. Thank you!
I have had unagi katsu before on top of a sushi roll at a restaurant called Manna Sushi in New Jersey back in Oct. 2018. I think they have changed the menu since i went but i have the photo to prove it. It was really good but it was the only place I have ever seen it before.
Charlie and Hiro, I’m really looking forward to your videos of the Faroe Islands. The landscape etc is truly magnificent. I’m sure you will do it justice and take some awesome shots
Hiro, my friend, g11d aftern11n!!! Great video that goes without saying!!! You and the cameraman are in Europe at the moment. I'd wish to meet you! Have fun in the good old world! Grat cutting and cooking action - you are the best Master Sushi Chef on this planet and I am sure of our UNIVERSE, too!!! Take care and take it easy and have a safe journey!!! ❤️🇯🇵❤️🇩🇪❤️🇺🇲❤️
Chef Hiroyuki-San, I made this for dinner tonight! It was delicious! I used fresh uncooked swai fillet instead of the cooked eel as eel is very expensive here where I am. Thank you very much for the recipe . I will make this again next time with the cooked eel - (on special occasion).
I'm the opposite...I've only had freshwater and want to try saltwater. Unagi is very soft, creamy and buttery. I like it best right out of the toaster oven, I don't like it as much when it has cooled off.
I've never had eel before. That does look really good. I hope you and your cameraman, Charles, have a good afternoon, and a great week. Cheers, Chef Hiro!
Unagi donburi is one of my favorites, unfortunately only one Japanese restaurant within two hours of me even has it on the menu. Eel is like the most flaky, tender, whitefish you will ever have. I highly recommend trying it.
We need a video of you cooking for Chef Hiro. He needs a break for making you bomb food all the time. Were sure you can cook something up for him, since you've been watching closely for years. A lil pamper sesh for Chef Hiro ❤️
I'm on my way to the market & I'm definitely picking up some eel I haven't had that in a few months I'm doing a seafood mentally today I'll be adding this to the list.
ow how i missed the Japan so much. unagi don are my 2nd favorite after gyuudon... i always eats at Sukiya may not be the best but pretty satisfying... it was so good that i kept coming back to it every month. it became my ritual when salary day. :D :D :D
I just love how u guys used the yakuza letter font, for a moment i was like whaaat hiro san plays yakuza? Still you always make great dishes and today u have provided us with this masterpiece, thank you so much Hiro san keep up the good work and most important, stay safe!!
i wonder if i were to catch some american eels out of the upper delaware river by me ... how would that be for this recipe? The freshness of them straight out of a clean natural habitat, 'north american eel'
Camera man likes when Hiro kills the live eel(animals). Umm ya I’m good with it being dead already. Why watch it be killed if you don’t have to. Just weird how the cameraman thinks
who cares how the camera man likes his eggs, Hiro is making the dish, eat it the way he makes it
Who else clicked on this video so fast? Master Chef Hiro is my favorite chef on UA-cam!
Same. I made my spam musubi after I saw him make some.
How many of his recipes have you made?
I am
@@louisanataeva2932 me too!
Hiro is looking extra happy today!!
I love and respect how he does not admit or accept but knows it’s out there and wants to work with it
I’m going to attempt this for my wife’s birthday dinner. Fingers crossed I can pull it off. Awesome video from you both once again. 👍🏻
I love the originality of this channel
These videos are so relaxing and entertaining, thanks for your work guys

Awesome! Incredible looking eggs too! Great job s as usual chef!! 👌
Just learned the difference between katsu and kotsu. Very happy to see it and recognize the usage here.
Appreciate this honest kitchen work I'm a chef trainee
I'm blown away by the colour of the egg. You must have a really good farm you get them from!
I know I want those eggs so bad!
Charlie and Hiro, I’m really looking forward to your videos of the Faroe Islands. The landscape etc is truly magnificent. I’m sure you will do it justice and take some awesome shots

Looks so great. love seeing you cook.
Safe travels! Enjoy the festivities.
Cameraman, you better bring him back to us! Periodtttttt!!!!!
Most orange eggs I have ever seen! Tasty looking recipe, too! I may try this one at home if I can get my hands on the eel.
I enjoy watching your video Hiro! Thank you so much!
Lmao Hiro wasn’t having any of that live eel talk. Lol. Camera man just didn’t get the hint. 😂
Camera man doesn't understand that we are here for Hiro and not him.
@@kip1512 I'm just here to watch live animals getting dispatched and the food.
@@kip1512 chill out.
Exactly. Like dude is a weirdo always so into Hiro killing the animals. Just shut up cameraman and stop talking

Thanks for sharing this recipe 🌈
I have never had fresh water eel that I can remember. The texture looks so much softer and fluffier than the saltwater ones we have here.

Hiro san!!!!!!! Your the only chef I watch on UA-cam. Good afternoon!
I've never had eel before. That does look really good. I hope you and your cameraman, Charles, have a good afternoon, and a great week. Cheers, Chef Hiro!
It’s super yummy!!! Very very soft fish taste but like a white fish but again it melts in your mouth.
Got the ingredients this weekend. Definitely trying this dish! Thank you 👍

I love unagi and this looks very tasty. Yes, I would enjoy watching Hiro prepare a live eel. Have a safe trip to Faroe Islands
He already did the vid (or two?).
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 Hey, you're not Charles. My answer was in response to his question in the video

Hiro has some swag in this vid.
Hiro-San I am mesmerized by your cooking.
Knocked it out of the park with this one
Looks awesome! I want to try making it.
One of the best!!!! This is so cool
Anyone else hear someone say “what the F” at 1:23 ?
Good afternoon!
2017 called. It wants the bad jokes back^^
Wow! This is beautiful
Great Dish❤ I've made katsu donburi but never with unagi!
I'm going to make this ❤

All I can say is, “Yum!”. Thank you
Great video.

Chef Hiro, do you use the same style of knife for cutting veggies, filleting, sashimi, & skinning fish?
It’s amazing the different type of creatures you cook up. What bout a Spider Crab. Lol

Lol, I'm sure Hiro doesn't want to kill another live eel after what happened before. That's why he was quiet when the cameraman talked about it😂
Perhaps I missed that one. What happened with an eel before?
Remind me 親子丼, I’ll try it this week. Thank you for sharing
Anyway, it’s my first time to see unagi katsu. Awesome
Looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤯💜
that egg yolk color is amazing
hirosan!!! verygoodafternooneveryone
God that's beautiful
ALIVE ELL!!
such gorgeous yolks in those eggs!
That title is 100% accurate. Unagi? Katsu? Donburi??? wow
can't wait for the Faroe Islands video
It's kind of like Oyakodon, without the chicken... Nice video guys. 👍
Good afternoon, Hiro! :)
Unagi is so good!
I had a similar dish with soba noodles in Kyoto shinkansen station
Newark is my hometown😄
wow~~we have a same idea, but my style no need wash the unagi coz i wanna keep the sweetness
I’m only 1:30 in and I know this is going to be another epic video by Chef Hiro!
I definitely need this!!
i wish i had a Friend like Hiro
In Holland they make raw eel (smoked) sandwich I love iiittt 😍🤩 this looks great
Looks good
Can use air fryer instead of deep fried using oil?
So nice
i wonder if i were to catch some american eels out of the upper delaware river by me ... how would that be for this recipe? The freshness of them straight out of a clean natural habitat, 'north american eel'
Where do yall get your eggs from, they are so orange?
No eel, Hiro don’t wanna
Aren't fresh eels difficult to clean?
I dont know if you can see the cross section ^shakes piece violently*
I'm convinced that unagi (eel) is always served bbq glazed (or otherwise), bc the true taste is less than desirable.
Idk why but why does it often sound like the cameraman talks to Hiro like he's a child? In my opinion of course
Cameraman needs to stop talking and just film. Let Hiro do the talking.
@@chad_garrison1991 Yes

Super new subscriber here
Where can one pick up eel?
I would say that Hiro and Taku are head to head as great chefs . But Taku is a better fisherman
Where can one get mirin?
