    Glad that I found your video. I have been wanting to taste my favorite Japanese dish of Katsudonburi. I used to order it every time I went to a certain Japanese restaurant in Misawa, Japan. Last I ate it was in 1978. Your recipe comes out looking just like what I remember except mine had fried pork with the same type of coating or batter on the outside. I am going to gather up the ingredients and try it out. Thank you!

    I have had unagi katsu before on top of a sushi roll at a restaurant called Manna Sushi in New Jersey back in Oct. 2018. I think they have changed the menu since i went but i have the photo to prove it. It was really good but it was the only place I have ever seen it before.

    Chef Hiroyuki-San, I made this for dinner tonight! It was delicious! I used fresh uncooked swai fillet instead of the cooked eel as eel is very expensive here where I am.
    Thank you very much for the recipe . I will make this again next time with the cooked eel - (on special occasion).

    I have never had fresh water eel that I can remember. The texture looks so much softer and fluffier than the saltwater ones we have here.

      I'm the opposite...I've only had freshwater and want to try saltwater. Unagi is very soft, creamy and buttery. I like it best right out of the toaster oven, I don't like it as much when it has cooled off.

      It’s super yummy!!! Very very soft fish taste but like a white fish but again it melts in your mouth.

    Unagi donburi is one of my favorites, unfortunately only one Japanese restaurant within two hours of me even has it on the menu.
    Eel is like the most flaky, tender, whitefish you will ever have. I highly recommend trying it.

    ow how i missed the Japan so much. unagi don are my 2nd favorite after gyuudon... i always eats at Sukiya may not be the best but pretty satisfying... it was so good that i kept coming back to it every month. it became my ritual when salary day. :D :D :D
