Never seen your videos before nor have I heard from you, but just watching this makes me so DAMN happy for you! As an artist myself I can see how terrifying it is to make these leaps of faith, especially after putting a lot of work into a project. I wonder whether Jude Law was immediately your first choice, or whether there was a lot of trial and error regarding finding that A-list celeb. Regardless, I'm sure your efforts will bring you a crap-ton of success, which you deserve every bit of.
Well done Colin. Absolutely amazing getting such a famous and great actor to appear in your movie. I was really impressed by your movie. Looking forward to the next one!
When Jude popped up, I wasn't too surprised... considering the polish of the work that preceded his appearance. :) Nice work and thanks for the little bonus(s).
I haven't tried this myself, but I have heard/read somewhere that a good method of getting an A-List celebrity to appear in a shorther even a full length feature film, is to find actors/actresses who haven't been in a film for a while. Such celebrities are keen to be seen on the screen, and if the project is something that they feel will further their career, they will be most likely to be interested in working with a good project. An actor/actress who is seen in any good role, will boost their chances of being cast in a future Hollywood film. It helps for a producer and/or director to have a portfolio of short films, that the celebrities may be interested in seeing, to get an idea of your works and the quality of the other talent you hire for your projects, and the effectiveness of your production values, look of your films, the sound engineering and directing skills.
You seem like a genuine person, I can really appreciate your style and honesty. I also loved your movie, no need for the imposter syndrome, you are very very talented. Maybe you could send one of those personal videos to Netflix. I mean, you already have Jude Law on board right :p Lets make this a series! 10/10 would watch

Seriously, this was the one thing I kept wondering about. Great explanation. (And yes, I was figuring that you were "connected." Thanks for clearing this up.)
Jude is an awesome actor and you are a great director. I am impressed by the amount of thoughts and hard work that you put in that short scene at the end. It is inspiring and your success proves you right. Keep up the good work and all the best!
It was great to see Jude Law Thank u so much. The glowing thing u added in his eyes just instantly took me to his roles in A.I & Gataca. Fine performance from the rest of the actors as well.
Instant subscribe!! What a great video. So happy that you made it happen. Such an inspiration, and also 6 years to make the film? glad you finished it! now time to watch.
Alternative method: Don't get to know anyone, or write any e-mails. Just write the role so you can use footage of them as you hide in their bushes. "Woah, this guy got shots of Will Smith, Sean Connery, and Ben Affleck! It's strange that they're all drone footage from really high up and their only lines are 'yeah, i'll have a mcBLT' " Then again, I've won multiple awards for my tasteful rear nude shots of Jamie Fox in a shower, which I digitally added scars and blood to be from the epic battle he was in (while wearing a full suit and helmet!). [Django Unchained 3062: Unchained Again, coming to theaters soon!]
@@jan861 He should have said it more elegently than that but he is right, to make a film you need to have many connections and know a lot of people. So not to put you down, i would suggest that you pursue another medium of expression in which only talent is required like painting or writing for instance.
So good. I had a moment sort of like this a few years back. I was able to get Judge Reinhold to do the VoiceOver of my short film. It was surreal directing him over the phone while he recorded in a studio in Arkansas.

They both gained something, it's some degree of good publicity for him, after everyones massive burst of appreciation towards Keanu Reeves other celebs (the smart ones) might be trying to step up their game lol they don't become world famous loved celebs just by breathing air after all
Well from what i can tell is he used a lot of special effects and had a small team working on it. Remember some small game devs take that long sometimes to make a game. Visual effects with a small team take fucking forever to do
Tell you a secret: people enjoy it when you really like and respect them, especially to join a worthy project. I'm sure Jude had a ball and would be proud to mention this short film as an accomplishment!
That is so funny to see you crazy happy ˆˆ I don't know how you handled the pressure ... even with my own friends I'm always anxious to ask for their time for a project that I have no idea if it's gonna be any good. Again, congrats to you and your team
Wow, love the production and concept of this video. Proud of you, man. Subscription earned!
I just surf on YT to research another inspiration theory for my daydreams project. Then, it leads me to see you guys short film, which makes me speechless for how you guys worked on this project. It’s amazing and inspired me a lot !! Respect and thank you
Wow, you actually got Jude!
I remember him from my childhood favorite film AI. He's an amazing actor, glad to hear you got to work with him, I know your work is already time consuming...
Almost makes me wish I knew a friend who knew a guy who knew a guy who knew you... 😭 😭 😭
Good for you for having the guts to make the most of this connection and not backing down from your goal. It is inspiring to see people chase their dreams and not give up.
Seriously, this was the one thing I kept wondering about. Great explanation. (And yes, I was figuring that you were "connected." Thanks for clearing this up.)
It's absolutely incredible that you pulled this off and made such a professional product. Congratulations.
this video popped up on my recommended without me even knowing of the existence of ur stort film so im eternally grateful for the recommend page today
Gave me “Blade Runner” replicant vibes.
Instant subscribe!! What a great video. So happy that you made it happen. Such an inspiration, and also 6 years to make the film? glad you finished it! now time to watch.
It's great Jude agreed to do it because he was perfect for the part.
Hey Jude,
I've written a sad song, and thought you could make it better.
Hey Jude,
glad you wrote back. Take my short film and make it better.
This is incredibly wholesome and amazing. Congratulations on your project and kudos to Jude for helping you complete it!
found out about you from Ryan Connolly. Your short was amazing! Excited to see where your career goes!
I love the laughing in disbelief at the end. You seem so down to earth! Can't wait to see what you do in the future!
What if I have no friends and suck at social interactions? :(
Get a hot friend to do it for you.
deepfake
Then dont become a director u idiot.
@@shidoshihanzo9819 Wow, you must be a nice person to hang out with.
@@jan861 He should have said it more elegently than that but he is right, to make a film you need to have many connections and know a lot of people. So not to put you down, i would suggest that you pursue another medium of expression in which only talent is required like painting or writing for instance.
THIS IS AWESOME! :) COngratz my man and kudos to Mr. Law for being so cool to do this :)
Wow this was actually really cool. Love the editing and format and everything
So good. I had a moment sort of like this a few years back. I was able to get Judge Reinhold to do the VoiceOver of my short film. It was surreal directing him over the phone while he recorded in a studio in Arkansas.
I've heard Jude Law is a really incredible person, this entire video made me smile! I work as a PA, maybe one day i'll be able to work on a movie like this lol
Just watched your short film - loved it and hope for a sequel..... and kudos for enticing an ‘A’ list actor into a cameo at the end.
Alternate approach: LIE. LIE TO EVERYONE ABOUT EVERYTHING!
I'm a legendary detective.
Nooooooo!🤨
Literally 50% of how to get anything done in Hollywood, I suspect.
@@Sgt_Glory the other half of the battle is knowing.......GI Joe.
Worked pretty good for Quentin Tarantino
Being a Levy increases your chances of knowing someone who knows someone who knows a famous actor, you're way more fortunate than plenty of people, but good advice overall, and great video.
Love this video. Thank you for using your great sense of humor and fun storytelling way to answer the question that we all had.
You’re awesome, so you get to work with awesome people.
He IS awesome :)
you've made me feel joy for someone i've never heard before. congrats to you and your crew!
Jude didn't do you a favour. He was hedging his bets. Anyone can tell you're going to be major Hollywood director.
He’s playing the long game
@Mr. Holliday His film is really good, though
but he did do him a favour if we take your scenario so he can use it in the future? He can just come up and say hey boy you own me one.
@Mr. Holliday Jesus, way to take someone else's nice compliment and absolutely shit on it.
They both gained something, it's some degree of good publicity for him, after everyones massive burst of appreciation towards Keanu Reeves other celebs (the smart ones) might be trying to step up their game lol they don't become world famous loved celebs just by breathing air after all
Palpatine did not die. He just fell in a giant plot hole.
Took you SIX YEARS just to make a short!?
NO WONDER I haven't made any shorts yet.
Well from what i can tell is he used a lot of special effects and had a small team working on it. Remember some small game devs take that long sometimes to make a game. Visual effects with a small team take fucking forever to do
Just buy shorts from the store
@@usernamesmatter LOL! That would be A LOT faster!
Dude, congrats on the TV series deal! It's incredible to follow your story and see the dream come true :)
Benicio Del Toro was asked this question. His response?
"Ask."
Tell you a secret: people enjoy it when you really like and respect them, especially to join a worthy project.
I'm sure Jude had a ball and would be proud to mention this short film as an accomplishment!
I like the touch that Kevin Bacon is the last name to fall off the spreadsheet
That is so funny to see you crazy happy ˆˆ I don't know how you handled the pressure ... even with my own friends I'm always anxious to ask for their time for a project that I have no idea if it's gonna be any good. As you said, good thing you asked him at the very end ! Anyway, great short, bravo !
"Hey Jude"
I see what you did there
Better still "Hey Dude" Jude loves that
I think that being critical of oneself is the best quality of being a good director. You're doing a good job!
