Well, even before you learn Reducto spell or get a goblin to open a safe, you can go to this location and just use Wingardium Leviosa on Ron or Harry to "transport" them to the place where you find Snape's icon (that works without building stairs). :P I discovered this accidentally while playing with my sister, but it works in single player too, though takes some more time.

@@tgslayer4774Seems like you don’t need a lock to do this. Go up from Hufflepuff painting and open the chest. This video didn’t show a silver lock on it.

After watching a speed-run of this game, I discovered that there’s actually a Dark Wizard you can get earlier than Snape, that being Death Eater. Here’s how:
1: Finish the level “The Quidditch World Cup” in Story Mode.
2: Learn the Transfiguration Spell. To do this, go in the door on the very far left of the Hogwarts Main Hall, then go up the stairs on the right hand side to enter the classroom where you learn the spell.
3: Once you’ve learnt Transfiguration, leave the classroom and then exit to The Leaky Cauldron and go out into Diagon Alley.
4: Wander around Diagon Alley until you find Professor Quirrell (he’s the purple adult with the turban).
5: Hit him with Reducto three times, then use the Transfiguration spell on him. If you use the switch character button whilst next to the animal you turned him into, you will be able to control it. Now just wait for Quirrel to turn back to normal so you can control him like any other character.
6: Next re-enter The Leaky Cauldron, then switch to the second player (should be Hermione) and go to the level select map to enter the Quidditch World Cup level in free play. This allows you to take Quirrel into free play despite you not finding his token yet.
7: Once in the level, head right until you see a black egg-shaped object. Quirrel can use dark magic, so swap to him and use him to destroy the egg containing the Death Eater character token. Then save and exit the level.
After that, just simply head down to Madam Malkin’s shop and buy the Death Eater token for the minuscule price of 115,00 studs!

You can do this only with polyjuice! Just select a character and in the Y/N state, press the sort button (top button) 5 times until snape appears then press "yes" aaaand there you go! Not hard at all!

better after learning reducto go to first 4 year mission then u can find by opening chest from reducto Barty Crouch Junior who know even avada kedavra
Barty Crouch Junior cost 75k not 250k like snape

You can always explore the castle before finishing the story, some places are just blocked off

I think my game is glitching or smt... whenever I go to the bank I don’t get a goblin to open the vaults and the only way to get the goblin is to get into the vaults :/

lele witz are you doing it in free play? I had this problem as well, cause you have 3 characters instead of just Harry and Hagrid in free play it looks like griphook just disappears but actually you just have to hit the toggle button to switch between all other available characters. For me on the switch that’s ZR/ZL and I am told it’s the space bar on pc but dunno about other consoles.

I realise a year later is no use Alex but if you did that in free play and you already have 3 characters you have to use space bar on pc to flick between characters or if you’re playing in switch you use ZR/ZL to toggle between all available characters. No idea what the button is on other consoles.
