MHW:IB Montage | I mastered Charge Blade for moments like these

  • After many years of hunting, and eventually slaying Fatalis, the hunter retires and spends their days participating in arena hunts for the crowd's amusement. This is what they see.
    We're now roughly 3 months into the future from when the first montage's clips were recorded.
    The clips featured in this video are ones recorded from 1 months ago to as recent as this week.
    Why bother playing optimally and wielding meta builds when you can experiment with whatever feels best for you? Risk and reward, I say.

    In response to the unexpected and overwhelming amount of views on the last two videos, I thought to put my old editing skills from 6 years ago to the test again.
    Be sure to read the description before asking questions. If you still have any, I'll be happy to answer them!

    Impressive. As a CB main, I love the AED/SAED counter that flinch or knock down the monster, but even more so when you GP and break their heads. It's the only weapon that can do that.

    To be honest, I much appreciate this kind of display of skill rather than speedruns that just constantly stunlock monsters. The finesse of precise dodging and blocking is much more satisfying than hitting a downed mob.
    Question, may I know what level of evade window are you using for the build in these videos?

    • @FlowMH
      @FlowMH  2 роки тому +6

      I include evade window 4! It's a build I use for any monster. If I ever need, for example, more fire resistance I just replace a dec I don't specifically need for said monster, with a hard fire res.
      I don't really care about builds as long as the gameplay feels rewarding and smooth. Evade window really gives you that opportunity to practice s as well as deal with lasting or followup hitboxes.

      - Yes. I use evade window to save my butt to dodge some of his 2-hit moves. His belly slam has a hitbox on his body, but dodging that can make you vulnerable to the ground slam itself. Evade window takes care of that, but I also try to make it an art to dodge as late as possible. You can see the use of evade window at 3:35 when I dodge the 2nd tail swipe.

    why u using 2 flinch free man? Also, not using agitator because you're using safi frost, so u don't need extra affinity, right? Insane play

    • @FlowMH
      @FlowMH  2 роки тому +1

      I use flinch free because I mainly hunt with randoms. People usually have no sense of spacing and disregards for others' playstyle, causing them to mess up your attacks. Charge blade's attacks are mainly sequence/combo based, so a LS or DB user enabling weeb mode in your face really screws a CB main up.
      I also find that adding agitator to my build slightly decreased my overall damage. I think greater base damage works best for me.

    but why complex guardpoint that much when a well timed block would still get you offensive guard, id get it if you were mid combo but half of your guardpoints you use from outside of combos entirely. is there a bonus to doing it that way that i just dont know of?
    i did some research and came back to my comment here, why did no-one mention these things in guides teaching cb ffs, not only does guard point do damage but it also adds to guard skill, extra with charged shield. ive been cb for years and id never seen this info until today.

    • @FlowMH
      @FlowMH  2 роки тому +1

      It's just for fun. You really shouldn't read into it that much.
      The only difference is the following:
      - SGP can be done in axe mode
      - SGP takes significantly more time to perform, thus requiring an exceptional amount of experience of the monster's attacks
      Yes, you can just morph back into sword mode and benefit from the automatic guard you get due to the round house slash, but that's not even nearly as satisfying as performing an SGP.
      It shows how well you can time a guard and how well you can anticipate due to the amount of time it takes to actually get to the GP in the animation.
      The reason this is never included in tutorials is likely due to the fact that its not a safe option in serious hunts, causing people to simply overlook it.
      The only moment I started incorporating SGPs into my playstyle (not just rajang, but several other monsters too since recently),
      was when I noticed LS or DS players messing up my savage morph due to the guard window you're given.
      "Huh? Is that really a guard? I see rajang's homing attack takes a long time to activate so lets try it out."
      Just tried it on safi'jiva's beam attack yesterday for the first time and boy does it make you look and feel awesome.
      1k hours into the game gets you experimenting with things.
      TL;DR: Slower, but looks cool.
