If I had the resources, I'd like to make fiberglass molds of each of the body panels on that Celica, and build my own from the ground up, using the factory dimensions. Just a dream, but dreams can come true.😊
There's a company in Australia, ADM Retro Fibreglass, that does bonnets, guards, boots, bumpers and aero so its nearly there. Just need to do something about the main chassis & passenger cell. Not dealing with rust ever again would be sweeeeeeet.
Yeah there was probably more i could have grabbed but i think i would have been lynched by neighbours before that happened. I got most of the good parts and especially the rear end and bumper, which will be used to save my RA23 that i have on the rotisserie at the moment.
In a case like that chassis, saving the good parts so another car can live on is the only answer. Nicely done on the quick turnaround and love the idea of the rear clip as wall decor - might have to do that with my parts car!
I see you didn’t take the CELICA badge off the side. But it looks like you got some good stuff to use and hoard for another day, another project. Fun to watch cheers.
Yeah my first car was a TA23 and I fell in love- a quarter of a century later and they're still my favourite apart from maybe a 2000GT which I'll never be able to afford.
I’ve got a bunch of parts that I received with my 1972 TA22 ST (Flatlight/amber) w/ 2T-B. A lot of these I don’t need as the previous owner spent 20 years pulling them apart. Let me know if you need anything that isn’t on this one!
@@Taakoioi Yeah man that's definitely a rare one - a friend of mine has a '23 GTV - i think a lot of them came in as personal imports. Very nice pick up!
@@TheBuildRoom correct! Mine was imported in late 73’ by an Australian Military member and he drove it for a little while then it sat in a garage for 24 years waiting for me!
@@Taakoioi Wow - that's an awesome find - hows the condition of it? I thought my TA22 was rare but something garaged for 24 years must be an impressive sight.
Sorry I'm so late guys I think I was looking forward to this one missed it when it was fresh. Watching now tho. 70s Celica are the best. Personally think it was salvageable but after what you took from it I see why you did what you did.
Yeah the rear end is really quite good so glad that's going to contribute to Violet Crumbles getting back on the road, definitely did not have the time to fix this one tho.
Holly shit this wasn't a car that owned by a G Smith from vic, I found him dead in this exact type an color , he gassed himself and I turned the engine off, this was in year 94 or 95 , the car was swampy inside from exhausts condensation, inch deep on dash an parcel shelf , might explain rust in roof if it's same car
Wow, definitely a shame about G Smith, but nah this one sat outside near a salt lake in Merridin (super hot)for a long time and would have got water in it occasionally leading to the mold.
What caught my attention was the Toyota Celica well l am interested in Toyotas especially older Toyotas any old Toyota and you an Australian yiu tube channel that doesn't do moderfied Holdens and Fords that you are into classic Japanese cars l also live in Sydney Australia and have an old Toyota myself a 1997 hilux rear wheel drive cab chassis ute with the aluminum tray
Yep never really gotten into Holden/Ford other than their engines, plus as you say there's so many other channels focused on them I wanted to just stick with what I know a bit better and really love working on.
@@TheBuildRoom lol had a little ta22 with a 4age back in the day, awesome cars. I was looking at an XY falcon the other day in bit a state, missing front fenders, but was remarkably cheap @ 2k. Wow so many parts still saveable on this car. Car wasn't even that bad. Especially now that kf vintage are making parts for these. Wild.

Thanks - have a new tool that looks like it might help me save the rear end on VC right now, so hopefully that clip does end up as wall art.
Good save of the rare parts to keep others going .
Yep - The purple RA23 that I'm rotisserie building will get the rear end off this and the A/C - definitely saves that car at least.
Parts would be almost impossible to find
Just got mine, 1975 ra23
Congrats! Good luck with it :)

Yeah both badges were degraded to the point where they were breaking down otherwise would have grabbed them for sure.
Worth saving
