Hey y’all, my name is Carley and i’m the girl in the video. This was 3 years ago. I’m now 21 so looking back on this is absolutely insane. Thank you all so much for the positive comments . and to everyone calling the cops “pigs” need to get a life. Those “pigs” saved my life. The reason why my brother couldn’t get on the boat was 1.) because he was very intoxicated and could’ve got in the way of the deputies doing their job and 2.) that boat is very tiny. Imagine how my brother would’ve reacted if they allowed him on that boat and saw them perform cpr on me not once, but twice. He would’ve freaked out and most likely would’ve got in the way. So please shush. If it weren’t for the deputies quick response time and fast acting i wouldn’t be here today.
God bless you and your family I was in middle school on a field trip it was hot that day we had to gather samples from the beach rocks, we asked our teacher if we could swim she declined cause we didn't fill out a form, we then begin to beg and beg eventually she gave in we went swimming and a rip current took us out to the ocean the was no lifeguards on duty, some students ran to the beach law enforcement office and they came to save me I was the last one to be taken out of the water I fell continuous they drag me to the shoreline and performed Cpr as well I will never forget that day.
The guy in the wetsuit jumped into action and held the boat for them was the MVP. Good for him. Obviously will go far in life with an attitude like that.
@@thebassassin5507 if it wasn’t for the current the boat full of people one of which he was helping save and oh yeah a river full of drunks maybe he could have kept it between the lines. 🤦♂️
She was never dead???? She suffered a seizure. She suffered multiple ones while on the boat, that’s why she went unconscious. I doubt they even Checked for a pulse before they pumped on her chest. Just freaked out when she went unresponsive.
@@nevershoutannie123 I just recently completed the "SSI React Right" course and they teach you not to check for pulse, because its just a waste of precious time and quite unreliable. You check for breath for 10 seconds and if you don't feel/hear anything you immediately do CPR without further hesitation. CPR hurts a lot and if your patient actually isn't in need of CPR he/she will wake up.
@@DooberD33 The rescue wasn’t throwing a life preserver to someone obviously. Did you even watch the video or read the description? The female patient had essentially already drowned or was having a medical emergency. The difficulty was getting to the patient and extracting them all while providing medical aid en-route.
Respect to the men who saved this women’s life! Shame on the person flipping them off! I’ve been down this river many times. People get stupid & reckless out there. I’m SSOO thankful for the sheriffs department being there ready to take action.
Hé was drunk and her brother, kind off understandable. The cops didn’t make a big deal out of it too, just fucked him off (like they are supposed too) and got to work.
I've floated down that river many a times. That airboat hardly makes wake. Plus it's pretty hard to get around in those tubes. So you put yourself in the current and just float. Those men do an amazing job rescuing people.
Heck ya. My 4th time creeping in the desert bush for hummimgbird photos next to the river, a chopper comes flying in. Mind you, Apaches are always flying over this area (Mesa, AZ), so i'm cool. Then 2 black floatables with their outboards come out of no where! Search crew is on. Me - anxiety and bye bye hummimgbirds. Stood and watched them passed for a couple minutes. From what I saw. Very organized. Later learned they were looking for a drowned victim. The Salt River took him.
@@JohnEboyee OOH! I've seen the Apaches too! We saw a Comanche (small Apache they don't use anymore) a long time ago while we were on top of a hill on the side of the river like around where we used to tie the riverboard to the tree lol. That Comanche was practically silent! Scared the bujeesus out of us! It leveled off across from us, we waved and cheered and then went into the canyon part and I swear that thing did a flip! Great experience!
I also give all the credit to the first responders but the young man in the black wetsuit did something that was heroic with it being something so small that he might not even realize, but jumping into the water and holding that boat without being asked shows this young man had great awareness and help greatly with this situation
Great point. Also notable how he didn’t say a word-didn’t distract EMS, kept his situational awareness, performed his small but crucial part. Assume it comes from training, a life on the water or both. Good lessons for anyone in a high stress situation.
@@tim2024-df5fu Well, wise guy, you act like this is normal behavior, and unfortunately it isn’t. Most people nowadays stand by dumbfounded and watch, or worse, film. The original comment praised how something so simple was helpful and contributed to a young woman’s life being saved.
The officers not letting the guy on the boat was right thing to do. He was out of it and put the rescue team in danger and their focus and attention on the girl.

@@cliveramsbotty6077 in drowning and near drowning the heart beat is either very slow, non existent or erratic enough to be ineffective . I hope some things have changed since I worked river rescue (white water raft guide) but long ago the adages was "bad CPR is better than NO CPR," CPR on a boat is very difficult, in a wilderness situation, no breathing or heart attacks are usually body recoveries, CPR is to keep circulation going to prolong a life until you can get to better care, for each minute the chances of survival fall around 10% If your outside of the EMS fan, your victims chances of survival is pretty slim in these circumstances, don't get me wrong EVERYBODY will do their level best and even put them selves a risk to TRY, to give the victim the best chance of survival, at the end of which you often don't know how it turned out. and you wonder, those times when YOU KNOW there is nothing to be done, those haunt you forever. When someone DOES beat the odds, that you did your best to stack in their favor, you, as a rescuer cherish those because it helps fight the darkness that builds in you from the ones that don't.

He's definitely not someone I would want around in an emergency, no self control, way too emotional. He pretty much acted like an idiot, where was he BEFORE she got in trouble.
@@EikeBatista_error Which is why he got his ass physically pushed out of the boat. He was making a bad situation worse, there is no excuse for that. He is not someone I would want anywhere near me in an emergency. Hopefully, he will learn from the experience and learn to control himself better. The problem is too many people, like probably his mother, and Becky Starr praise him when he acts like that. The term for that is an enabler. Young men and women need to learn the basics of CPR in high school. I know this seems an out-of-pocket response, but the hopelessness of the look on the young mans face wiping tears from his eyes fearing he lost a friend was gut wrenching. Thank the rapid and professional response of Maricopa County Sheriffs for saving this young girl’s life. Thank all our first responders for taking up the responsibility of keeping us safe and saving lives.
It is not at all too much to ask. Most people who are lifeguards at pools and water parks every summer start in high school. They have to pass CPR courses. To work in a daycare or with most child care programs, which many high school or at least college age students do, they have to (or should have to) know CPR. I was a lifeguard at 16 in a huge water park in Spring, Tx. I never had to do CPR on anyone. But I performed plenty of rescues. When I was 16, my stepdad fell off of my roof while power washing it. When he stepped down onto the ladder, the ladder fell, and he fell backwards from the roof landing flat, with his head taking the brunt. I was the only one home. There was a young man there working with him who was no older than me. He completely freaked out bless his heart. Had I not had the training I had, I don’t know that I would have known what to do. I went from sound asleep, to thinking my little brother broke a window with a baseball (the ladder crashed through a window) to hearing screaming from the young man. I ran to find my stepdad and thankfully knew what to do. He was barely alive. He passed away the next day. But, while we were together I was able to handle things and do my best to stabilize him. Brain surgery couldn’t save him. It was his time. But, I’m certain, the training I had helped us that day. And I’m certain God was with us. I have an amazing son with special needs. I’ve had to call paramedics twice Bc of how bad he chokes. He does not swallow correctly. But, I’ve known what to do every time to help him. He has lung issues. We have devices at night to help him. But, IF he stopped breathing I would know how to help. These are life saving skills. I bring all of this up to just say, YES we should all be trained in school. These are important skills we can all use.
@@kellykel4472 they change the number of compressions to breaths often. But the real truth is do compressions. Check for pulse now and then. No pulse, keep doing compressions. If they have a pulse but aren’t breathing, you hold their nose and blow air into their mouth while tilting their head back a bit to open their airway. If there is something logged don’t try to blow it in. I can’t spell hiemlick. Haha. Babies are face down on their belly in your arm as you pound their back forward. You can take a refresher course too.

Lots of positive comments here - fantastic, and shows just how long it can take for help to get to you! As fast as the Air Boat went Code 3, it had to get to her and get back to a boat ramp to transfer her, then the time it took to drive to a local hospital for which she lived and commented here in the thread of her rescue. Wow. What a job. I used to float a river similar to this one every year and brings back memories of rolling 20 deep in kayaks. All these guys did a stellar job at their positions and knew what their job was in a multiple person rescue team. Dude is giving her CPR on the boat while they are flying down the river through rafts/kayaks. That takes a lot of trust in the driver which fan boats drive like you're on a patch of ice sliding it's way through the river. Textbook work and most likely saved that girls life. Then the guy who was just giving CPR on/off for 5 minutes just shrugs at the driver after she's lifted from the boat. Like, no big deal.
Carly I’m so glad you pulled through this. Its got to be very overwhelming to have this video of your life and death struggle out there for everyone to critique. This didn’t happen that long ago and I’m sure you’re still trying to deal with it. I’m sure you learned a lot that day about the water and the heat and your inner strength to survive. So don’t let the negative things complete strangers post about you and what you should or shouldn’t have done that day affect who you are. None of us were there. And to the people out in the world, be kind. Stop judging her and her brother or assuming things went on that didn’t. Give the poor girl a chance to absorb all that happened to her. This kind of experience doesn’t go away overnight. Some people develop PTSD from a life and death experience. Just because you have negative thoughts about what you THINK were her choices that day, try and remember that you don’t know all the facts because you were not there. And what people say with good intentions can still cause harm. ☮️

The whole thing seems odd. Why would she stop breathing when the rescuers arrived. What was going on while she was waiting for the rescuers? Wouldn't she have stop breathing while waiting over a half hour or full hour that it took these rescuers to arrive? And one last thing; why did that one officer who was performing the compressions, stay on the Airboat (as she was removed), turn to the Pilot and shrug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ his shoulders? As if to say, I don't know what her problem is, she looks fine to me. She says; "it was lack of water and had no drugs or alcohol".
Great observations Anthony. As a paramedic, her breathing MAY have become agonal, but I even doubt that. And I highly doubt she was ever pulseless. The responders had no cardiac monitor and were probably BLS responders at best, and that’s to be expected with the sheriff’s department. Their compressions appear to pretty much amount to painful stimuli, like a sternal rub. She started responding to the compressions so quickly because they freakin’ hurt. I’m not knocking the responders under the circumstances, but I never saw one pulse check, and even if they did, you’d have to be pretty seasoned to feel one bouncing around on that boat. The best thing they had for her was gasoline resulting in a quick transport. Didn’t see a stethoscope or an IV kit. No medical bag. A bag valve mask probably would have been useful for some assisted ventilations.
@@midniterun911 Thanks for sharing your professional observation. Very helpful. You see, I was critical of the pilot for his remark about the bother getting on the airboat. Then I immediately turned on her brother's drunk or drugged condition in my initial comments. I then received a negative reply from a Carley Bove who apparently is the girl in the video. After checking out her Instagram's self-obsessed postings; It made me wonder about the video's oddness, especially the officer's shoulder shrugging. Thanks again, take care and stay safe.
I'm so glad Carly recovered from this. And I can understand the brother's panic and concern for his sister. Very few of us are prepared for a fun outing with friends and family to turn into a situation in which you are watching a family member fight for their life. This is nothing compared to Lake Havasu city. I lived in Lake Havasu my entire life and I still have a home there. I can’t tell you how many tourists die every spring break and every summer because they don’t realize how hot it actually gets there (128° +). They spend $200 on beer but nobody buys any water. After the boats clear out and everybody goes home, the bodies all float to the top…It gets so packed on the lake that people get drunk and they fall off their boats and then they get trapped underneath the boats because there’s no place for them to come up. Alcohol poisoning, heat stroke, drowning, and accidental lake related deaths happen all the time…

If it were my family or friends that needed any sort of help, I'd hope people could literally get off their butts and move, so of course I do the same hoping they get to the emergency in time. And you can definitely hear that coming well ahead, and if you're too drunk or stupid enough to not notice, then you shouldn't be in the water and maybe these guys wouldn't have so much to do out there. But, that's just my opinion. Sadly it seems it's a lot to expect people to show consideration for others when they don't want to be bothered by moving a few feet to save this child....so sad how selfish people are.

People need to remember, it could be you or someone you love that boat is trying to rescue. What would you do? You'd swim with every ounce of your being to get the hell out of the way of the boat!
@EatYour Vegetables for one I'm not a guy, for 2 you got some phenomenal eye sight if you see a train 10 miles away!! Apples to oranges with the train example so that's irrelevant. There are some instances where they didn't use the horn until they were right there. Not everybody is facing forwards, there are ALOT of ppl who are usually tied together so it's just not that easy to instantly make a group of 15 floaties move, C'mon man! Some most likely are drunk. Did u notice they had no issues with kayaks? Because they got a paddle that can help them move, they're not at the mercy of the current. My point is I don't think they are purposely just chilling in their way... There was 1 guy that I thought that could've been much faster..
@EatYour Vegetables bro theres thousands of drunk people on floaties its not like they were purposely blocking the boats entrance they moved once they saw that boat trying to get through and like that other person said theyre on floaties its not like they can instantly fuckin move outta the way quit being so sensitive they got the fuckin job done stop bitching
I'm glad she made it. The officer that pushed her brother off the boat, had to. Him being hysterical and the extra weight on the boat matters. The Golden Hour... They gotta get her to AMR and then to the hospital as quick as possible and he would of slowed them down even more
Years & yeaaaars ago I was tubing on the same Salt River. It was a special 98KUPD float-in. Thousands of people were out there and people had tubes tied together and what not. It was super crowded. Anyway, I fell and got pinned under the water as my suit got caught on something below. When I was able to break free I couldn’t get to surface because so many tubes were tied together. Luckily a friend of my boyfriends Rob Totukey saved my life. I’ll never forget that hand reaching into the water and pulling me up. I’ve never EVER gone tubing again. That was 1990😢 Carly, I’m glad you were rescued!

That little selfless act alone speaks VOLUMES of this deputies willingness to protect and serve and most other deputies as well! Good job brother! Prayers for the woman's recovery as well!!

I’ve had to call paramedics twice
Bc of how bad he chokes.

She stopped breathing at least twice…that’s crazy to see. They don’t do chest compressions on breathing people. Good job, guy’s 👍🏽

"Get that guy off my boat"... No F's given. Fully focused on the job at hand. Boat Captains write the rules! Bravo
Pushing someone off the boat like that was not necessary. Had he fallen an hit his head on a rock the heroes would have become the villains. It wasn't what he said it's how he said it and the attitude behind it. If this was her brother having a family member only helps and doesn't hurt. They weren't paying any attention to what he was saying - just get off my boat.
@@garyjarvis2730 disagree. He was acting irrational and directly putting the patient at risk by being a distraction and generally belligerent.
@@garyjarvis2730 yeah homie wasn’t thinking straight. Let the professionals do their job. Him being there would do nothing but get in the way and become an unneeded risk to her well-being. Your feelings don’t matter when only seconds count.
The same captain that was running his vessel over rocks?
@@externalaffairs247 Looked to me like it was a fan boat, in a river, trying to save someone's life. Lack of maneuverability and the need for life safety kinda outweighs a few rocks. But you're probably a sailboat kind of guy so I'll let it slide...or maybe you like stand up paddle boards and kayaks? Manbuns?
Thank you for your guys service. Much appreciated
I see allot of positives. Great driving. The one swimmer had sense enough to grab the boat and help the officers get off to rescue the girl. Thank you officers for your service.
Whoever is driving that boat is one skilled person. All those obstacles!!
Every second counts I see you trying your best to get on scene. Looks like a difficult rescue with so many people in the water oblivious not knowing what the situation is at the time.
Hope all is well
Sad thing is they shouldn't need to know what is going on to know that when any sirens are on you follow one simple rule. Move the fuck out of the way.
The biggest problem with all the ppl in the way was they where all drinking and drunks don’t pay attention or react in a timely manner lol
Parents have not brought up to put others first. I can't believe that only a handful tried to get out of the way.
Was that person(people?) in the inner tube at 4:47 drunk or unconscious?
They are tubing on the river. It's not like a car where you can pull.over quickly
....
I have never seen a river so packed full of people before. It's probably more pee than water .
How do you think it got the name salt river. Haha
It's sterile, and I like the taste!

Thumbs up for the first responders. Thumbs down to the entitled rafters whom would not heed the emergency vehicle. And are throwing all of that trash in the river.
How can you move an inter tube powered via non webbed fingers that fast??
@@SegoMan How far away can you hear sirens on the open water? Oh wow man look the cops. Lets sit here and watch. Until they force us to move. As you seen does not work well.
@@charleslloyd4253 Are you familiar with the flying lava theory? if you see lava coming at you and its not moving you need to move..(it has a arched but linear projectory unlike an air boat that travels all over the place..
You really need to seek help for that Kiwi addiction..
@@SegoMan i know for a fact that if you get off of it immediately and quickly swim to the side pushing it with you...its pretty simple to be out of the way in plenty of time...just flapping your hands without even any effort, sure, hard to move fast, but if they had been able to put someone else before their precious party then they'd do whatever they need to do to make it easier for them to get to someone in need.
I’ve been on this river when they drive the airboat down. It’s not as easy as you think to get out of the way. It’s actually quite scary to see an airboat doing 60mph towards you as you’re on a tube.
Thank you officers for saving her and for all that you do day in and day out.
Rescue starts @6:30 Glad you're alive Carley, I see you in the comment section explaining why they didn't let your brother on, because he was overwhelmed wit emotions and could've gotten in the way of the deputies saving your life. So if you see this, were you breathing when the paramedics got you off of the boat? Or anyone could answer if you know the answer. Also, how did this happen? How deep is the water? Which that doesn't matter. Because I almost drowned at a park similar to this in Florida, we were on the tubes and my friend and I shared one, she was a bit bigger than me in weight, somehow more tubes bumped us, we flipped upside down and our legs were tangled. The water was like waist high, but my head was stuck under water. That was the most traumatizing experience ever! I cursed worst than a sailor at the same time thanking God when I finally came up. It seemed like forever and everyone else was just having a good time and didn't even notice me drowning. I am writing this comment on 6/24/2022, 4:18 a.m.
i was breathing when they took me off the boat. i made some dumb decisions and got super dehydrated and passed out right before the rapids. the rapids in the river aren’t necessarily too deep but people over look the power they actually have. some days they aren’t as bad but when there’s thousands of people on the river, the current picks up.
All good except I think it would have been great if they had let a concerned brother ride along. Of course he’s upset but he could have provided vital info.

@EatYour Vegetables for one I'm not a guy, for 2 you got some phenomenal eye sight if you see a train 10 miles away!! Apples to oranges with the train example so that's irrelevant. There are some instances where they didn't use the horn until they were right there. Did u notice they had no issues with kayaks? Because they got a paddle that can help them move, they're not at the mercy of the current. My point is I don't think they are purposely just chilling in their way... There was 1 guy that I thought that could've been much faster..
A lot of them can't swim very well.
