As a pediatric ICU nurse, that was really hard to watch. The way he was crying, that's called a neuro cry. People cry like that, a high-pitched cry that sounds like a bird screeching after their brains have been injured. Those police officers, especially the one that put his life on the line, are heroes 👏 🙌 ❤❤👏👍👍🙌
He has a burned spot on his hands, his heels, and the TOP OF HIS HEAD. You can see where t he current went in and out of him.
I read this and I got sad😢
You have a disturbingly low bar for allocades. The cops did nothing, no cpr, no mouth-to-mouth, didn't even try to clear his airway.
@@johnsmith1474i agree, cpr is a necessary when it comes to something like that, but they did end up taking him to the hospital. That’s the good part.
@@johnsmith1474that’s because they didn’t need to, he was breathing and heart was beating, and mouth to mouth for for drowning people
As a former EMT, the screams may be awful to listen to but man, they're a wonderful noise, because you know your patient has an airway and he's breathing 💔
As they say, in an incident you don’t concern as much about the screaming ones and concentrate on the quiet ones.
I understand but those screams still broke my heart. Poor baby was in so much pain. 😢
I was thinking 'there's no way his brain will be okay after that' and then he started screaming like that. It's messed up. Hopefully I'm wrong about these assumption
You are.
I was thinking the same thing
The fact that they sat with him in the back seat instead of waiting for the ambulance warms my heart. We need cops like these to be leading the force.
Yes
They were at the hospital by then
The vast majority of cops are like this.
@@mikeabbitt8309that’s completely false. snoring doesn’t necessarily mean a blocked airway. and even then, he had a pulse and was breathing; so why is there a need to perform CPR?? they laid him in best of a position as they could, given he had a backpack on. his face was blurred, so we don’t know if his eyes were opened and moving or not. you can’t rely on EMS to be there. if there is a hospital within driving distance, which for the officers, seemed to only be about 5 minutes, then there is zero use waiting 10 minutes for an ambulance, waiting another 5 to get him loaded on, and then another 5 to drive there. all that does is waste time in which the child could be seen by doctors and nurses with adequate facilities.
They are. Everyone forgets that when they shoot a criminal tho
They held that poor boy so tight while he cried; you know this wasn’t an easy one, but those officers did a DAMN GOOD JOB saving him.

That cop didnt take any longer than 5seconds to think and decided his life was worth risking for this young boy. I got nothing but respect for this officer.
All cops decided their life was worth risking even the ones that think they can do something outside of the law. The only differences between cops and civilians are training and permission to conduct what needs to be done. Something cop haters often forget they are human they are both good and bad just like everyone else but they made it their job in our society.

These officers were awarded Medals of Valor this week for their efforts in saving this child’s life.
Very deserved

Any word on the boy's recovery?
Not enough. Not nearly enough. They will be hearing that kids screams for the rest of their lives.
Good to hear.
What exactly happened here?
I'm so glad the kid made it. As soon as he started screaming i was relieved as it's actually a good sign.
Those cops are what true policing is all about. Didn't hesitate in a dangerous situation to get the boy to safety & to the hospital.
I wish the kid & all cops involved in this incident the very best in life. You cops are 💯 true heroes 💙 👍
The way that officer was rubbing the child's chest and head and talking to him like it's his own kid 😭 So much compassion. Thank God for these officers
When that kid started screaming it was almost relieving to hear him alive. That poor kid. I bet he was in so much pain. Those officers deserve the awards they got. That kid is so lucky!
I know some people might think it's horrible to hear the child screaming but trust me, as an EMT it's music to our ears. It means that they are breathing, and their airway is not compromised. Glad these officers were there to help him and transport him to get medical help.
Exactly! As an ER nurse, I always said crying is good! Airway, airway, airway!
It just makes this kind of work extra tough. Definitely hard to not bring it home for everyone involved. Even though he was screaming he might have severe brain damage based on the burns to his head 😭. Might have survived but there might be nothing left 😭
could you explain the various states that he went through and how that might relate to getting electrocuted?
Same here as a LEO.
@@braydend9582 Just gotta take things one step at a time. Not everybody makes it home every day, any day where everyone does is a good day. We'll worry about the rest later, can't do anything more now. Its all up to that hospital and some luck.
An officer lost his job recently for transporting a 2 year old burn victim to the ER in his police car. Which is the saddest thing for such a hero. When someone goes above and beyond for our children, they deserve respect .
Why?
Yeah this sucks... Liability.. this is not right .. the cop was right
They don't want good cops on the street..
Seriously? Society has become so distorted it is absurd.

Quite the opposite for me. My heart was stopped until I heard him crying. Crying means he's alive and breathing.
@@mattjack3983the screaming is what told me the kids going to be alright.
In a situation like that the quiet unconscious ones are the biggest concern. As soon as you hear him snore earlier in the video you know he’s alive. The snore is a scarier sound than the scream honestly.
@BlobGorillaTag I know, I was hoping someone would go and give him a hug or something, poor kid, he was so scared
@whiteouthamstra I agree the snoring sound could be mistaken for a death rattle at a time like that.
Ok. I think after reading through the comments, I’ve pieced together what happened. There was a low hanging power line. Based on the severe burns to his fingers, it appears he grabbed the power line. The continued shock her was getting was because of his proximity to the electrical field being generated by the high voltage power line. This is also what shocked the cop, but he was able to pull the boy away. The boy did survive this, and the cop received a medal of valor.
I was scrolling comments trying to figure it out, I wasn't sure how the wire hurt him so badly, mostly because I don't know a lot about live wires or the power they carry. Thank you!
Ahhhh man the comment I needed
As a nurse i never been so happy to hear his screams lord baby boy so glad ur ok now
The officer caressing the boys hair says everything you need to know about his character...how compassionate he is
We need that man made chief he is a real example of a true leader in life
He wasn't caressing his hair, he was looking at the extent of the damage, he had severe burns on the back of his head.
@@snakezulaThat's still compassion. He isn't really trained to do that, but he did it because he cared
Took the words right out my mouth blessing's to those who all that was involved ❤❤
Does anyone know the name of the officer? I feel like as a society we are really quick to judge cops for bad behavior, but we don't reward the good cops. Positive reinforcement
This officer should be promoted. Very brave and true love for humanity
Nah. Cops like him need to be on the streets with the community. Not some desk job
What happens the next day when the same cop has to use deadly force on a car jacker who was about to shoot him? Protests, riots after they find him not guilty? Probably.

Isn't it kind of mindblowing? We got to hear someone do what we do everyday and yet barely notice.
We heard him ask his soul for wisdom. We got to see a man check in with Destiny itself and make the decision to take a leap of faith, to choose to be on the side of Life.

@@js2sgamer951To be entirely fair, I think there’s more than 1% of cops that abuse the system - or at least, passively take part or let abuse slide in the system in the Us.
However yes, I think it’s sad that so many people get caught in these circlejerks of watching this abuse and assume its the full story. Some cops, at the very least, joined because they wanted to help protect the community. Some would put their lives on the line to protect people, and go through horrible abuse on a daily basis to do so.
The ACAB narrative has always seemed unfairly prejudicial to me, and a bit sad. Just because there IS corruption doesn’t mean you should assume every single person in the force is taking part in it. They aren’t a hive mind. they’re people like us, and yes, the system allows a lot of shit through, and it might need changing, but there’s no reason to project that, without question, onto every single person working as a cop.

That had to feel like the longest car ride for that poor boy and the officers. I can't even imagine how hard it was for the officers to hear him crying and knowing that he's in a lot of pain and there's nothing can do but get him to the hospital as quick as possible. I have to say they went above and beyond to get that lil boy to the hospital. They didn't wait for an ambulance and they tried to make the ride as smooth and quick as possible and then they sat in the back with him to hold him and try to comfort him. We definitely need more cops like this.

They should have taken him to meet ALS capable paramedics on the way to the hospital not to mention the pain and torture this child went throug while not recoeving pain and memory management. But i get what they were thinking.
Yeah wait like 45 minutes for an ambo, dispatchers would treat these kinds of call as non priority since the kid was breathing - and not as much critical priority as someone who is in cardiac arrest, so yeah it was a good call for officers to rush him to the hospital. Even though the officer's actions were extremely dangerous and he put his own life at risk as well. Now I would like to know how the fuck something like that happened and who is liable to get sued for all they got - city ? why was power not cut off - events like these are extreme emergencies, and calls for a crew to come and cut power. For high voltage lines you can get electrocuted within around 33 feet
@@jimmydandy9364that’s actually not true. Systems typically have tiers for priority vs non priority. Priority being code 3 and the other code 2. Code three runs are Code 3 Runs regardless of nature. @gawrgarrz some of our sons are that tall while still in elementary school. For us moms, we refer to all kids below a certain age as "baby". You can't tell age by height/size, and he was worthy of the nurturing he received, regardless of age.
P.s. this kid & his 10 yr old brother that used his book bag to try to help him away from the line are also both brave & both heroes!

These officers are the types of heroes we’re told about as kids. Perfect examples of why people choose to become police. This is what needs to make headlines across the country. Rescuing people from dangerous situations. They gave that young man a second chance at life.
Yes More Of This Please
They won't show this on the news media and I don't think I need to explain why 😢
I think most cops would have acted the same way. The media picks out a very small few and tells you it’s all of them.
They'll never show this on the news. People don't care about heroes doing what they're supposed to do. They only care about when heroes mess up or the wolves hidden who pretend to be heroes. People and news media are both evil.
I follow so many bodycam video channels and there truly are so many amazing police officers out there who truly care about the people ❤
They did so many things right here... Risking their lives to save this boy, talking to him the whole time, caressing his head, carrying him, and how he made sure they had enough people in the back seat to hold him when he said "one more, get one more back there with him." The love they showed this little boy...❤
😢 the incredible amount of compassion, understanding, and outright love for a child that needed them in those moments. It was meant to be that these officers were the ones to answer the call that day. Im sure it was a little comfort to the childs parents that these officers seemed to treat him just like they would if it was their own (though im sure the officers were more calm in this situation). To the officers that helped this boy you were more than police officers. You were a blessing, guardian angles, saviors, SUPER HEROES!!
❤❤

This was making me tear up. The way he talked to the kid while he was in immense pain, after pulling him out, wow. These are the cops we need.
THAT IS NOT THE SOUND OF BREATH YOU MORONS. not until he is screaming in agony by a true miracle no thanks to these idiot cops . There are soooo many things wrong here. This is one of those feel good civil servant stories that departments run with for good publicity. I'm not taking anything away from what the cops did, it was in deed a dangerous situation, but we simply don't give them the training they need!
1. That boy is NOT breathing. Multiple cops say "he's breathing' They report to the dispatcher that he's breathing. He is NOT breathing or snoring. He is agonal breathing which means his brain is being injured due to a lack of oxygen and it's a reflex. It's the bodies last ditch effort to get oxygen to the brain Someone in agonal breathing is VERY close to death. People in agonal breathing often are in cardiac arrest, or suffered a stroke, drowning. suffocation, electrocution, drug overdose... What they needed to do was check for a pulse and start CPR and/or ventilations. The fact that he came out of agonal breathing on his own is a miracle.
. Police shouldn't transport. Now I don't know what the EMS response time is in that area, but in most cities with an EMS system it is better to wait for EMS than transport in a police cruiser. Usually patients die in the cruiser on the way to the hospital. The news says it took them 4 minutes to get to the hospital. The ambulance probably could have gotten to the scene in under 4 minutes and started medical intervention sooner. Also if the patient goes into arrest on the way to the hospital in the back of an ambulance they have medical equipment. Oxygen, D-fib, medications, etc. The police cruiser has none of that. You can't even perform CPR in a cop car Police should almost NEVER transport a patient.
3. This took place at the corner of Charlotte and Sharrow streets. Check out Google street view. In the video the wire is four feet off the floor running from the white sign on the right to possibly the porch of the red house on the left. You can clearly see the wire in contrast with the white house on the left. Also if you look past the white sign on the right you can see the parking lot is also taped off with caution tape. Clearly the wire is down in the parking lot, runs across the sign and over to the red house. The boy is no longer touching the wire. The wire is not touching the street. I highly doubt that cop got shocked. The officer grabbing the other ankle sure didn't. Makes no sense.
disgusting that the city allowed the electric to still be on when there was a downed wire near the school no crossing guards and no one there to tell the kids going to school that the city is garbage and hasn't shut off electrical to the downed wire from at least 12 hours prior PLENTY OF TIME TRASH HUMANS secondly THIS BOY WAS IN AGONY THAT THE COPS WILL NEVER COMPREHEND NEITHER WILL MOST OF US. The also probably caused brain damage because they didn't do basic stuff that we leaned in school as kids about life saving. Did anyone check for a pulse? He was dying and as this post I am about to copy paste here states IT IS A MIRACLE THAT THESE COPS DID NOT KILL HIM his brother is the hero who used his book bag to knock the wire away out of his hands the boys were walking to school they had no idea that there was a downed wire they jist tried to get to school f everyone in this town except those two boys❤
I never get teary-eyed... this beat me 😢
we have cops liek this, but you never hear about them because they dont make the news
This is how most cops are. They get a bad reputation from the media.

It depends, if heart has stopped then cpr needs to be done immediately, this kid was breathing which means his heart didn't stop, as horrible as it looks, it wasn't that much life threatening.
I don't know much about this story, was there a live wire where officer entered or what, if there were no live wires then he didn't risk his life at all, but I think there was, I think I heard someone say there is live wire.
I'm sorry for what happened to your husband, but maybe there was nothing anyone could have done, it all depends on circumstances and how high the voltage was. Plus if it is AC or DC, if it's AC then it's much more severe damage.
@@samirdoncic6395 It was live but I don't know how much voltage it was but you can clearly see the cop get electrocuted as well when he touched him. The boys hands are burned at the point where he tried to pick up the wire and I can only assume its 240v with low amperage going directly to a house or something.

Any parent instinct
Or like other guy said…dont need to have kids to be a hero with a big heart. I have none, but I would still risk myself to save someone else’s, bc no kid deserves that
Everyone with a heart feels that, parent or not. When you see someone in danger, and it hits even harder when you see a child or an animal, an elderly person in need or danger-anyone vulnerable-your basic instincts take over your whole body. It hits for ANYONE, vulnerable person or not, if I see another person in danger or needing help I don’t care who you are , you’re a fellow human who needs help. You just spring into action before you even realize what you’re doing. Even writing this makes my chest fill with that feeling thinking about the people I’ve had to treat in the past when I did medical at different large events and festivals. No one talks about how at any festival or event over 3k where there’s drinking or drugs you have one death every time.. always , always, always a seizure from drug overdose. Always a seizure …
Alcohol poisoning sometimes too… those ones usually we can get to the hospital in time…
