  • Cool little stove that has been on my bucket list for a while. Let’s clean it up and, wait…there’s fuel in it! OK, change of plans. Let’s see if she fires up!

That is exactly like the one that I have. It was purchased in the Middle 1970's from REI in Oakland California when we lived there. Mine came with a small hand operated air pump for pre pressurizing the fuel cannister prior to starting it up. I still have all of it and while I retired it many years ago, it is complete and still functions fine.

The nipple is cleaned by turning the regulator wheel as far as possible to the left. Tihs can be done while the burner is lit if you return it back quickly. The cleaning needle should be visible by turning the regulator wheel not more than 1/3 turn from the left from the closed possion. I bought mine back in the late sixties. I still have the manual. One thing I do to cut down the soot when preheating the generater is to put a small piece of compressed trioxane fuel tap in the bowl and light it. That proceedure also saves cooking fuel. If you have the old round military fuel tabs, cut them in half or quarters, depending on how cold it is. I also have tthe Optimus Mini Pump and fuel tank adapter to keep the fuel pressure up along with a small square of Thinsulate, to insulate the stove from the snow. All those accessories fit ihside the stove. After all these years, it hardly has any soot. Most of my time has been in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

I got mine from my father he said he got it in the 70s it should have a little pump to charge the fuel tank. Super surprised after sitting for 40 years it fired up with only needing a little tlc and lube
