  • Hello friends, this video is about the restoration of a gasoline camping stove optimus 8R , I found this camping stove in a junkyard, it is completely rusted and several parts are missing, I decided to give it a new life. This is an old Swedish 1970's optimus No. 8R , The stove box is completely rusted. In this video,
    .....
TECHNICAL FEATURES OF optimus gasoline camping stoce NO. 8R is :
    * Type: gasoline camping stove, about 130 c.c. volume fuel tank.
    * Fuel: petrol / gasoline car / gasoline extraction / benzin car / gasoline aviation / Coleman fuel.
    * Special pin inside the nozzle for cleaning the channel without extra tools.
    * Power: it boil 2 liters of water during about 15 minutes, it is the equal of 1-1.2 kWt.
    * Working time: about 50-60 minutes at one portion of fuel.
    * Materials: main parts are made off brass, other (external box) are from steel.
    * Dimensions: 125x130x80mm.
    * Weight: about 750 gr (without fuel).
    * No any pump inside, which can malfunctions.
    * To prime the stove I recommend to use special "dry fuel" or pure alcohol... if you'll use the gasoline for pre-heating it will work too, but your hands will black after manipulations with the stove.
    * Safety valve (hidden into the lid of fuel tank) provides the defense from high pressure inside the tank. You can be strongly surprised if it will executed... it is the reason why you should not use the stove inside tents, woody houses etc. But this system prevents from total tank explosion.
    * Fuel tank have special shield which should reduce the heating of the tank when the pot is on the stove. Really I recommend to have the cup of cold water or to some snow to decrease the pressure if the flame will come "out of control". Just make the fuel tank more cold and all will OK.
    * Very compact, reliable and low weight device for travelers to wild places where no any butane tanks are available.
    * Works both in the crackling frost - 30 degrees Celsius and the biggest heat waves - plus 40 degrees Celsius
I plan to do these things:
1- I will remove the rust from the can and paint it with a special paint.
2- I will design and make the supports and legs for the stove.
3- I will design and make a new flame spreader for the stove.
4- I will make the volume bar to open and close the burner.
5- And we will learn how to light a gasoline stove . Enjoy this video and i hope it be useful 💐🌹🌹

Does it works with kerosene ?

Not at all, the type of burners of kerosene and gasoline stove are completely different, The kerosene stove burner has spiral tubes to vaporize the kerosene, but the gasoline burner is simple because too much heat is dangerous for volatile fuels like gasoline. the kerosene stove has a pump, but the gasoline stove does not have a pump. The result is that a gasoline stove with kerosene does not light up at all, and kerosene stove with gasoline is dangerous. Do not use either of them interchangeably.

To prawda, że ma bardzo mocny płomień i że pracuję w bardzo zimnych miejscach, ale gaz zamarza

    Hello 🙋‍♂️.
    Hope you are good !!
    Notwithstanding I enjoyed
    your excellent restoration of
the camping stove 🔥⛺️ in order
to bring it back to life 💓 and allow
it to live for another day. What impressed
me more - that you put in back
straight into the life it was designed for - ie; camping, as apposed to sitting it on a
shelf 👀 looking pretty 🤩 in shiny blue !!
Not sure if you keep these things or give
them away, or sell them - however, I hope
the new owner gets years and years of
good use out of it in the outdoor
    world 🌎 !!
I am a a huge fan of of the outdoors
and regularly camp in my campervan
in my own Country - and I am a frequent
visitor to “Old Junk Markets” - back
in the day these units were plenty - full
however, these days it’s very rare that
you come across them. I think they are
left in old garden sheds and garages
and the inclement weather gets a hold
of them and destroys them to a BER
    point !!
    Thanks 🙏
    James 🫶✌️

Hi James, thank you for your kind message. Yes, like you, I love kerosene and gasoline stoves, and I have collected all kinds of old stoves, and I have a large collection of them. In this period, there are few people who like old things 🌹🤠🤠❤

I think it is tool small for camping

    • @Unique_restorations
      @Unique_restorations  3 місяці тому +2

No, there are different models of stoves with different dimensions. These small dimensions are an advantage for those who are mountain climbers who have little space in their backpacks and cannot carry heavy loads with them.
