After watching 10 videos, this is the only one that really tells me how to do it! THANK YOU!

    Hey Jeff,
After refinishing a friend's door here in Texas with a hand rubbed finish (and a fair amount of refinishing experience) I didn't know what to charge him so I Googled for pricing and was amazed at what folks are getting for INFERIOR, sloshed-on varnish jobs. That got me to thinking about starting a business myself. Intuitively I understood what to do and how to do a hand rubbed finish and your videos have both confirmed that understanding and provided me with some really good tips.

These people make more because they don't have to come back to let the oils dry for 24 hours, unfortunately the finish will not last nearly as long and will haze over.

I’ve just had two custom doors made for my new house. One is white oak and the other is mahogany. I was about to stain and varnish them until I saw your video.

Great. Long oil blends are the longest lasting with an easy yearly maintenance program.

Sorry, ran out of characters.... The headline of what I wanted to convey is that I really appreciate your videos and I wish I lived in the Colorado area so I could work with you. Thx and all the best.

I have new custom white oak doors. One will get a lot of sun and weather. Am I better off using oil only with no varnish or poly? I want an eggshell or satin look.

Two coats of oil blends will give you a nice satin finish.

what if the theres a area where the Vaneer has worn away ,can i sand the remaining vaneer off to make the door even again?

It depends. If you put on a very dark stain, you might get by with it or painting will always cover it up. The problem is that when the veneer is removed the underlying base takes stain different than the veneer itself. Another technique would be to put several coats of conditioner where the veneer is gone.

I use oil blends like penofin, sikkens, cabot, and many others that are out there. Just look for the one with the least resins and solvents.

wow I am sure I'm talking to the right person... put we aren't any where near you... we have bought a house built in 1912... it is a cinderblock house , filled with the most beautiful double French doors between each room.. some rooms only have a single door but the multi paned windows as in French doors, the wood on these doors appear to have been left alone as far as adding alot of coats of stain ( they are stained ) however it's hard to close the doors and wondered if you have a video about that sort of restoration ? I'm not asking if we can find a person in our area to do this... we are VERY POOR RIGHT NOW !! and this house is going to take lots of money we don't have , so if you may have some solutions we can do we'd be very interested ...

This is a sales ad! Good information but this is a sales ad and not a do it yourself video.

If you know it all, then why watch youtube videos about door refinishing? After 20-years I learn something new about it every day.

@@jeffalbrecht1 Hey that's nice man, my comment is literally 8 years old, I do not care. Replying after almost a decade is a little unhinged and I do not remember anything about your video.

Many others don't feel that way. Try explaining to a youtube audience how to do what you do for a living in 6-minutes.
