There are other malevolent spirits that do live and kill people aside from the "12 demons" that Daigo bargained with. Speaking of design... Haohmaru (Samurai Shodown) is inspired to Hyakkimaru. Sarutobi Sasuke (from the eponymous manga/anime) is inspired to Dororo. Hokutomaru (Garou) and Konohamaru (Naruto) are inspired to Dororo and Sarutobi Sasuke. Pretty much all of Naruto, too.
This series is one of the many created by Osamu Tezuka. Mostly known in the west as the creator of Astro Boy. But he also created many other works. Ana interesting fact about him is though he had passion for manga, art and animation, which was instilled by his mother by her taking him to the theatre plays and entertainment regularly, he was also made to study medicine. Having a very good solid knowledge of medical anatomy and terms and info he infused his works with this and it is why you will notice it in his work. One of the most notable and that I believe you will enjoy would be Balck Jack. However Dororo is my favourite. He is inspiring because it proves you dont have to do one thing only. You can do many and it may make for a very strong combination.
I cried when I watched this anime, because Hyakkimaru is a prime example of a child paying for their parent's sins, I know a kid like that, his mother dabbled in darkness and broke a woman's marriage and stole her husband, her next child was born with a health anomaly, brought on by his mother's dabbling. I can't wait for the next episode's reaction.
There was too many jokes this episode. The salt convo, sheera making Boji sounds, Lupa pretending his arms grew back on the blades. Yall are too funny XD
A little detail is that Every time Hyakkimaru gains a new part he has a immediate experience with it. For example when he gained his skin back he immediately felt rain. Then later on he experienced hot food for the first time.
There’s an old PS2 game called Blood Will Tell. To this day, it’s the only version of Dororo that actually completes the story. Even the original manga has no ending. In it, you play alternately as both Dororo and Hyakkimaru, with 40+ demon bosses, some optional, some in the main story, that each powers Hyakki up with a new body part when they’re defeated. Hyakki’s attack options are his two arm blades, one of many swords you collect throughout the game, an arm-loaded machine gun and a knee-loaded mortar launcher. Eventually, when you get both arms back, the arm blade mode becomes a dual-wield mode with broader reach than before. I forget if you lose the machine gun, though. It’s a really good, really rare game.
