This reminds me of the puzzle games back in the day, moving blocks around with a character, but you could rewind actions so that you weren't overwhelmed by how to backtrack.
I absolutely love the art-style, and I appreciate how detailed everything is despite the limitations presented by such a take on the genre. I'd love to see some more atmospheric effects (smoke, obscurity, toxicity, etc), and maybe a shield shattering effect when the heavily armored enemy dies. Overall, this game looks fantastic considering how early into development you make it sound!

I'm in love with this. All of this. But I'm especially in love with the Rewind function, because I'm admittedly one of the people in the camp of risk-haters and people nervous about experimenting. There's also just something really cool about SWAT wizards. As a gamedev student, this inspires the heck out of me, keep up the great work!
I know that kind of talk would be a long way off but this would be perfect for the Nintendo Switch! Definitely keeping my eye out for this, looks great!
This is really interesting, the only thing that would make this game more appealing is, since this is a story driven game with a character driven plot, making the character's aesthetic more iconic, and maybe giving them voice lines (ik it's hard to find dubbers) that can show their personality, like LoL and Overwatch have done. Good luck with this project, I look forward to this!
Interesting to see how much the game changed over time. The knockback witch went from "don't go hitting people too hard" to "my entire tactic is throwing people out of windows"
This game looks great! Very creative, looking forward to seeing more! Also I feel like there's a certain amount of appeal to the hand-drawn UI elements. Gives it a pencil and paper tabletop RPG feel, which is very fitting with the gameplay style. Being able to try something then change your mind and revert makes me think of drawing and erasing, so having the UI reflect that could be cool. Up to you though, it's your game.
DragonaxFilms Maybe the idea could be that this is the plan the witches and wizards are drawing up before the fight. And once you’ve come up with a working plan it is executed.
I realize this is a dev update, but I think having the attack / window smash animations be slower / meatier would add more texture! What about a slow Mo cam for certain things?
I would love to see a difficulty setting to turn off the rewind button for players who want a challenge, because most players won't care for achievements or alternative ways of making the game hard. Beyond that the game look fantastic and I would happily wishlist it, if you make a discord post the link soon! Good luck on the project!
This looks fantastic AND gorgeous. I'll be keeping an eye out for its release. I'm worried the gameplay won't present enough challenge. Some story-agnostic challenge levels would be more appealing to me than forcing me to rush an objective (which I will, because I love fun cosmetics).

I like ur combination of old medieval graves and hi-tech monitors =) That's a very interesting kit.
Idea: Picking up one use weapons/items which have bonuses if used by the “correct” wizard. These would be useful for specific levels and can drive the story.
I love this! The sheer idea of just adding these two things together is awesome.
Looks brilliant, can't wait to add to my "tom francis making stuff go out windows" pile
Special Witchcraft and Tactics
Doorcerors
I love that title
fucken GENIUS!
I love your thinking, Tom! @3:00 you explained it perfectly. It's why people collect items in RPGs and never use them
I'm in love with this. All of this. But I'm especially in love with the Rewind function, because I'm admittedly one of the people in the camp of risk-haters and people nervous about experimenting. There's also just something really cool about SWAT wizards. As a gamedev student, this inspires the heck out of me, keep up the great work!
We require punny anagrams for SWAT, FBI and CSI.
Specialized Wizardry And Thaumaturgy team, Federal Bureau of Invocation, Criminal Sorcery Investigation
Necromantic Security Agency, Cantrip Interdiction Agency.
There sure are a lot of words for 'wizard' or 'magic.'
@@remobothic fucking lost it at "Federal Bureau of Invocation"
Specialized Wizard Action Team.
Supernatural weapons and tactics.
Federal bureau of incantations.
Cantrip slinging interrogators.
The style-points system sounds like it could be brilliant! Looking forward to it
I saw the name first, and then the character designs and was immediately sold, i love this, so unique!
I love your idea about the wardrobes. It strikes the right balance of makes sense and goofy.
Protip: make voice lines gibberish/made up language to save on localisation!
@@TheLaXandro Pit People style, I like it!
Interesting to see how much the game changed over time. The knockback witch went from "don't go hitting people too hard" to "my entire tactic is throwing people out of windows"
We DEFINITELY need Workshop support at some point. This is fantastic.
That's an amazing concept right there.
Also, that tank character is screaming space marine to me lmao.
Grey Knight. ^_^
Commissar Purity blood angel lol
This game looks great! Very creative, looking forward to seeing more!
Also I feel like there's a certain amount of appeal to the hand-drawn UI elements. Gives it a pencil and paper tabletop RPG feel, which is very fitting with the gameplay style. Being able to try something then change your mind and revert makes me think of drawing and erasing, so having the UI reflect that could be cool. Up to you though, it's your game.
DragonaxFilms Maybe the idea could be that this is the plan the witches and wizards are drawing up before the fight. And once you’ve come up with a working plan it is executed.
@@arnerademacker8548 Yeah, exactly! You said it better than I did.
Wait, this is the gunpoint guy, you've already got my money, that game was brilliant.
He also made a game called heat signature, it's awesome space assasin/spy/pirate game if you've not played it!
Mr Roberts is extremely good at making this look super professional
I realize this is a dev update, but I think having the attack / window smash animations be slower / meatier would add more texture! What about a slow Mo cam for certain things?
Slo-Mo Defenestration, yesssss.
I dunno, Tom really likes that "snap" feeling for deaths.
I would love to see a difficulty setting to turn off the rewind button for players who want a challenge, because most players won't care for achievements or alternative ways of making the game hard. Beyond that the game look fantastic and I would happily wishlist it, if you make a discord post the link soon! Good luck on the project!
Just dont use it
@@senk1246 right but what's my incentive to not use it? If my score doesn't change when I handicap myself like that, what's the point?
Love this guys work so far, and this game has one of the most creative aesthetics ive ever seen. Looking forward to playing this!
This looks fantastic AND gorgeous. I'll be keeping an eye out for its release. I'm worried the gameplay won't present enough challenge. Some story-agnostic challenge levels would be more appealing to me than forcing me to rush an objective (which I will, because I love fun cosmetics).
