I don't think Peter MacNicol (Renfield) gets enough credit for his performance in this, he does an amazing job.
He really does! He is up there with Dwight Frye
I was just thinking the same thing!
He's the best part of Ghostbusters 2, and is great in Bean. A totally underrated actor.
I knew him best from NUMB3RS.
Without a doubt the best performance in the entire movie.
4:32 Fun Fact: The old woman warning Renfield is Mel Brooks’ wife Anne Bancroft aka Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate
They both worked together in "To Be Or Not To Be" another gem of a movie.
The "enema" doctor reminds me of Dr. Kellogg (of Kellogg's cereal). He ran a mental hospital and performed all these crazy medical experiments on people. Not to mention giving lots of enemas for various reasons.
And invented corn flakes to combat masturbation, he believed that the bland taste of the cereal would make people less aroused.
@@marcusfridh8489
And circumcision.
That's Victorian medicine for you.
He allegedly had an orderly whose task was to administer the enemas and his title was "Read Admiral".
Harvey's line delivery is based on that of Nigel Bruce, who played Dr. Watson besides Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes.
The enema references are references to the film, Road to Wellville, a 1994 comedy staring Anthony Hopkins, John Cusack and Mathew Broderick. And based loosely around a true story.
You guys would absolutely LOVE Once Bitten! It's got Jim Carrey in it. Such a fun time
I love that line from Leslie Nielsen:
"They had it coming"....
By the way Dracula gets the last word and laughs at the very end of the credits. Sylvania or Nervenia.
If you've ever seen Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson in the old Universal Sherlock Holmes movies, Harvey Korman (Dr. Seward) was doing an exaggerated impression of the way he talked.
Aaw Happy Birthday you guys! Hope you have a great one! And what better way to celebrate than watching a classic Mel Brooks xD
I think the reason Dracula didn't use his mind control powers on Lucy was because the garlic blocked his powers.
More spoof movies: Hot Shots 1 and 2, Naked Gun 2, Loaded Weapon 1 (Lethal Weapon 1+2+3 parody), 2001 a Space Travesty, Wrongfully Accused
Happy Birthday 🥳🥳🥳. Did you know birthdays are good for you? The more you have the longer you live.
Happy Birthday Boys!🥳🥳🥳🥳
Much love from Alberta!❤❤❤
Same door handle in Young Frankenstein
Where did you watch the movie
happy birthday!!
You finally did a movie I recommended! I sent you a rec on twitter too!!
Happy for your birthday guys😁
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FELLAS
What about van helsing?
A comic joy - “Fushta”
Happy birthday Krools!
Happy Birthday!!! 🎊 💖
Stephen Webber had a basic idea of what the staking gag would be, but was still caught totally off guard by just HOW big the blood spray was. You can see him struggling not to laugh, and he improvised the line "She's dead enough!"
he improvised it because they had genuinely prepared another round.
@@danielwilson8604 No
Even we British appreciate that joke by Jonathan haha 🇬🇧
"She is Nosferatu" "She's Italian" Those lines make me laugh every single time. This is one of Leslie Nielsen's funniest movies ever. You guys should watch the Creepshow movies. They are perfect for Halloween.
Renfield is in Ghostbusters 2.
"Everything you are doing is bad... you should know this. "
Peter MacNicol was fantastic in this movie. The most uncontrollable laughter for me came from his performance!!!
It’s hard to watch the original Dracula without laughing after you’ve seen this. You keep seeing all the references 🤣🤣🤣
This was the first Dracula movie i saw as a really young kid. Imagine the absolute shock when i saw the Gary Oldman one later down the line 😂😂
Thats always the case when you first see a parody/spoof of something and only later the original.
Peter MacNicol who played Renfield voiced Mad Hatter in the Batman Arkham games. He was already mad before becoming Mad Hatter!🤣🤣🤣
Happy birthday!!!🎂🎂🎂
He was also in Ghostbusters 2 "You are like the buzzing of flies to him!"
@@TylerCharlesFisher oh ye I remember lol
And he is also in Mr. Bean movie
Oh shit he was? I never noticed that
@@DisorientedWanderer ye lol
20:58
"But Lucy... I'm british.
-So are these!"
:D
One of my favorite Mel Brooks movies. This was hilarious to me
Oh yeah. This one was super great
the strenght of Leslie Nielsen ( tha actor that play dracula in this movie and many other characters) is his ability to keep a completely "serious" face even in front of any jokes! that's what made him a star at his time ( and he is a good actor)!
Was, alas. But his perfomances are with us forever.
Another Halloween themed Mel Brooks movie is High Anxiety. A spoof of Alfred Hitchcock movies. You should recognize Harvey Korman and Madeline Kahn from Blazing Saddles. Mel plays bigger roles in some of his older movies. He plays multiple characters in History of World Part 1. Peter Macnicol is also in Ghostbusters 2.
🥳Happy Birthday, guys! 🥳
22:00 The best part about that scene is that Mel Brooks didn't tell Steven Weber he would be covered in gallons of blood, so that his reaction would appear natural. This led Steven to ad-lib the "She's dead enough."
🎂 Y’all have the same birthday? What are the odds? 😜 💋
Happy Birthday guys 🎂
@@David-eo8if Honey they're twins 😉❤️😎
The actor playing Renfield also played in Ghostbusters 2 where he became the servant of another evil villain called Vigo the Destroyer.
I’m guessing that may not be an accident..
I love Peter MacNicol!! He was hilarious in GB2.
Peter McNichol also in another funny film, 'Bean: The Movie' with Rowan Atkinson (as Mr. Bean).
Peter macnicol is my favourite actor. Soooo incredibly talented...love his voices..definitely one of a kind ❤️
This was Mel Brooks last and final film as a director.
Some people say this one sucks but girl begs to differ! Also she's a vampire.
This is a good movie comedy. Hope you watch Repossessed too. BTW, if you watched Bramstokers Dracula this would have been even funnier.
10:00 For those who don't get the joke about Dracula's hypnosis mishap, his last command (you will remember nothing of what I tell you) was taken very literally by her.
Then compounding that mistake he said "that you remember" which was taken as a literal command to remember her original instructions.
That is what Dracula got for not being very specific about his hypnotic commands. Dracula can only blame himself here.
Peter MacNicol (Renfield) is the best part of this film. He is awesome.
aww my favorite mom bangers watching another movie lets do it boys
We appreciate the recognition of our official titles and we appreciate you; but mostly your mom!
Happiest of Birthdays guys!!! Your channel has grown so much since I first started watching, it's so great to see, your infectious positive energy needs to be seen. haha What a fun movie to check out for your birthday! Have a great day!
Happy birthday, gentlemen! 🎈🎂💐
You definitely need garlic in spaghetti!
I can't be a vampire simply based on the massive amounts of garlic I cook with 🤣🤣🤣
Enemas were used frequently in the 19th and early 20th century. Dr Kellogg as a big proponent of them at his health sanitarium.
Like in the Movie The Road to Wellville...
Always have thought this was an underrated movie. Unfortunately I think it was hurt by many people comparing to Young Frankenstein.
I have a Romanian friend who explains Vlad Tepes to me. To Romanians he was literally a hero. My friend would get upset and offended everytime she hears people said that Vlad was a vampire 😂
Romanian History would be interesting...but...I prefer to look ahead to the Future than the Past. The Past cannot be changed AND...the possibility exists that the Past could be told wrong or faked. However the Past stories (even if fake) can still be good lessons to teach sometimes.
That is because Bram borrowed Vlad as a historical figure with fictional elements for his novel. The real Vlad was only a human. People often confused between reality and imagination.
Romanian here. He is a hero only to nationalist psychopaths who think a sadistic mass murdering tyrant was a good guy because he killed our supposed "enemies". He actually killed more Romanians than Turks but hey let's not let historical fact get in the way of nationalist mythology. He also levied extremely oppressive taxes and started needless wars that devastated much of the country. The people who celebrate him today are usually extremely racist, islamophobic bigots and fascists.
And she was right,I'm also Romanian and I second what she said.
You should check out Carol Burnett skits with Harvey Korman, R.I.P. The skits with him and Tim Conway are absolutely hilarious.
Peter MacNicol (Renfield) in Addams Family Values is hilarious
Love this video and channel! Two things: Peter MacNicol's voice was an exaggeration of Dwight Frye (Renfield from Dracula, 1931) and the old gypsy woman was Mel Brooks' wife, Anne Bancroft.
You guys are amazing and have a great of the rest of your birthday!
Dracula (1931) is of my all time favourite movies from that era and this spoof is just brilliant 🤣🤣🤣 Great to see you reacting to it.
And happy birthday guys! 🥳 🍻 Mine's tomorrow 😁
I think you guys are the best movie reactors I've ever seen!
If you like Renfield so much there will be a comedy movie about him and Dracula in 2023. Nicolas Cage will play Count Dracula.
Peter MacNicol was truly brilliant in this. This film and the first Mr Bean film are my two favourite films with him.
The guy always prescribing an enema is actor Harvey Korman who also played Hedley Lamar in Blazing Saddles. He also stars in Mel Brooks' movie "High Anxiety" which is a sendup of director Alfred Hitchock's movies. There are a lot of actors in High Anxiety that were also in Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles and others. Mel Brooks plays the main character in that movie. It's very funny!
Happy birthday guys! 🎂
If you haven’t seen any Dracula movies before this, especially Bram Stoker’s Dracula a lot of these jokes won’t land for you, still a very funny movie 🧛🏻♂️
After this one, you've gotta check out "Love at First Bite" with George Hamilton.
While there are many Dracula movies, this one is most closely a spoof of the 1992 "Dracula" directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker - watch it, if you have not seen it.
Also, the actor playing Renfield, Peter MacNico, can be seen in a similar creepy role in 1989 Ghostbuster 2.
Who ever said the unlife of a vampire was easy? This is backbreaking work in the truest sense of the word! Only one thing helps: Calm blood!
Happy Birthday guys, no wonder I think you're both great you're Libras. I absolutely love you guys and even more when you react to comedy. Today was my dad's birthday too and I spent the whole day with him. Love and best wishes from Sydney Australia.
Happy birthday to your dad! :)
@@OctoKrool Thank you soooo much 😍
Happy Birthday, guys! 🥳
Dracula: Dead and Loving It is a parody of Bram Stokers Dracula 1992 and the classic Dracula with Bela Lugosi.
Mina is the same actress as Maid Marian from Robin Hood Men in Tights 🥰 As well as Martin is Blinkin, and The Maid is Marian's Lady in Waiting. I still love Mel Brooks as Van Hellsing.
RIP Leslie Nelson who played Dracula.
Also the man who had "finished his drink" plays Will Scarlet O'Hara.
If you pay attention at the end when Dracula throws Renfield down the stairs he says a e i o u and then at the end "why?" good hidden one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope you guys are having a great one!!
The best part about 22:03 is they didn’t tell the actor who plays Johnathan about the blood 😂 he thought he was just going to hammer the stake and be done, so his reaction is genuine.😂
Saw this in the movie theaters. 22:20 was the WRONG moment to be taking a drink of soda!!!! It went down the wrong pipe and I legit thought I was gonna DIE!!!
Why did they release it in December
This is the funniest Dracula movie ever. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GUYS. Been a channel watcher for over a year now and your reactions never fail to bring me enjoyment.
Tis the season to watch Bram Stoker's Dracula, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. You'll recognize a lot of this movie in it.
21:58 - Stephen Weber had no clue exactly how much blood there would be in this effect, so his reactions are for the most part real.
22:30 - Because the garlic was there before. Until Renfield removed it, it was blocking his powers.
Happy Birthday!! I loved watching this with you two,
I actually watched the Original Universal 1930s Dracula, so as I watched this, I realized this was what Men in Tights was to Prince of Thieves.
Bless the actor who plays Renfield.. Good in this movie, just as he was in Ghostbusters II
Happy Birthday, Chris and Curtis!! 🎉🍾🥂😘😘 Chris, you’re doing great, sweetie! 😘🐙❤ Curtis, keep up the good work! 💪🏾 Birthday gifts are on the way! Love you both! ❤❤
Happy B-Day to the most terrible twins I love to watch make fools of themselves!
If you want to see more of Mel Brooks .Watch HIGH ANGXIEITY. He stars in this insanly hillarious movie. His movies are all Great !
Happy Birthday! Many happy returns of the day and another year of awesome movies! 🎁🎉🎈🎥
Should have seen Bram Stoker’s Dracula 🧛♂️ first. 😆
Despite history portraying Vlad the III of Wallachia as a monster, his story is a bit more tragic. Now he definitely did horrible things, however the Ottomans that he was fighting did equally horrible things to the people of Wallachia. Vlad was defending his nation and people from their oppressive rulers, and due to being severely outnumbered, Vlad resorted to fear tactics. Which worked surprisingly well compared to the power of the Ottoman empire.
Damn You guys Made a record on this one, You Made me cry of laughter already and You haven't Even started watching the movie!!! Love ya guys!!!
Fun fact. Vampires don't show up in mirrors because they use to be backed by silver. Now we don't use silver, so they would have a reflection. If they were real of course 😆.
21:30 first rule of watching anything Mel Brooks: don't drink xD those zingers come outta nowhere and take you out!!
"My God! What are you doing to the furniture?"
"But Lucy, I'm British."
"So are THESE!"
Ah, good old fashioned sexual humor! I really miss that.
But I'm glad I got to experience it back when I was still young enough to truly . . . "appreciate" it!
And yes, Peter MacNicol is a wonderfully talented, if mostly unknow/ underrated actor.
I grew up on the movie and that wiggle voice with the throat thing is still something I do for comedy to this day
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤️
my fave Mel Brooks movie. Happy Birthday. Mine was the 7th.
I love this movie. I read the Dracula book as a kid and this movie makes it funny to me.
I love the way they portray Jonathan in this movie.
In other Dracula adaptations, they just focus on the attraction between Dracula and Mina. (I hate that! Jonathan is my favorite character in the book and Mina is his woman! Not Dracula!"
In the scene where Johnathan stakes Lucy the actor had no clue how much or little blood was gonna splash. If you listen you’ll notice his accent goes away when he says the line, “she’s dead enough!”
It was the end of a long day and he was now covered in fake blood. Poor dear lol
I have the dvd and tend to listen to commentary’s for my favorite movies lol.
"She's alive?" "She's Nosferatu". "She's Italian?" 🤣
YOU GUYS MAKE MY DAY WITH YOUR LAUGHTER 😂😂😂
Aaaaaaawesome!!!! Halloween Greetings 🎃🎃🎃 from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Out of everything Leslie Nielsen has done this is by far my favourite
Happy birthday guys. Love the reaction. Keep it up guys!
Thank you :)
My favorite Mel Brooks films and I'm glad to be watching this reaction on my birthday as well. Happy belated birthday to you guys!
That Jonathan sure is something unbreakable!
History of the World Part 1 is one of Mel's best and he's the main character in the whole film. You might like it. 🤘
This is my favorite Mel Brooks film.
“I’m saying no but leaning towards yes.” 😂wtf this movie is hilarious
I saw Stephen Webber in a series recently and he looks like 90% the same. He was a villain tho. He does a convincing english accent here because hes actually american
I swear I saw Chris the other day. He was working and looking miserable doing it. No, it was not you. I made my husband look, he said "who?"
I may watch ur channel too much. Well, that is my story. 😅😅
Stan helsing is Lesley Nelsons last film it's funny as heck
