The "Fat guy in a little coat..." bit came from the days when they shared an office at SNL. Chris Farley would always prank David Spade or try to make him laugh and he put his coat on one day and started singing. Makes me happy that it was something from their real life together. RIP Chris Farley.
When they greenlit this movie the script was like 50ish pages long. A standard comedy script for the time was 90-100 pages. The director massively re-wrote and created this story by just watching Farley and Spade interact and listening to them tell stories about themselves lol
Not only is this movie beyond hilarious, but it has a few dramatic moments that Chris Farley really nails... he seemed to have some legit acting chops... its a shame we never got to see him really develop them.

Farley was a throwback to previous great physical comedians. A combination of Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Curly Howard, Stan Laurel with a heavy dose of John Belushi. Not ahead of his time, but unique in that nobody was (or has) even tried doing that style of comedy since. Not to that extreme anyway.

He might have died anyway. The autopsy revealed he had advanced atherosclerosis, so a heart attack might've killed him by 2001 at least.

To this day one of the funniest things I've ever seen on film is when Paul throws the milk carton in the baby carriage. What a great movie. Hope you do Black Sheep as well with Farley and Spade.

I’ve always said great actors yell well, comedy or otherwise. Pacino has always been my favorite actor based on his ability to yell.
Now you guys gotta react to Black Sheep. It came out a year after Tommy Boy. Farley and Spade's second team up in another solid comedy. Sadly it would be the last. Black Sheep is hilarious. You guys would love it.
