    This movie is one of my favorite childhood movies. I love Classic Disney! This one is definitely in my personal library.

      @carmenmonroe7 Finding an unopened blu-ray on ebay, costs $40-80 bucks now. Glad I got mine before it went too high. This movie is an easy yearly watch for me now.

    You’re the first one I’ve seen do a reaction to this film. It has some problems, but I watch it every Halloween. You commented on the harshness of the boys. Ages 11 and 12 are a disillusioning time. You’re realizing so much of what you’ve been taught is false and the people you thought had your back are pulling away, dealing with their own growth. You still have imagination, but it’s being tapped down. Perfect time for temptation to choose a target.

      @nealwhaley63 I would have liked Jim Nightshade to get about 3-5 more minutes screen time explaining his frustration with not having a father at home. With a short runtime of 90 minutes, they could have given him his moment to explain his motivation and interest in turning older. In my research, I guess there was a lot of conflict between the Bradbury script and the finished film. Disney wanted to go heavy on the scare effects and Bradbury wanted more character development. Either way, this will be a yearly fall watch for me. Enjoyed the ending. Probably watch it again in October when family visit if they are interested. Thank you for watching.

    Something wicked this way comes. Is a Disney classic. From the good old days. It has been a while since I've seen it. I think I will watch it this October. Read the book too. Disney needs to make good movies like this.

      @RebecaLawrence-w6e Some of Disney's live action films from the 60s-80s were so much fun to watch. Dragonslayer was a Disney show from the 80s that was excellent. The book is a great read. Perfect for the fall. It's probably in my top 10. Really gets into the relationship between Will and his father. Thanks for watching.

    I've seen shrunken heads. My wife's grandfather was in the Navy in WW2. One day Doc took me in his barn and showed me his medic bag from Pearl Harbor, a personalized autographed book signed by Admiral Nimitz, and a bunch of shrunken heads. 😬

      I think it's the face skin stretched over rocks or wood....something like that. Just the thought makes me squeamish. I'm googling it now, and it's quite the process. Not for the faint of heart.

    Watch this every Halloween/Autumn with the family. Still have to read the novel, don't know why I haven't since I like Bradbury's other novels. This movie is a ton of nostalgia for me.

      Now's the time to read it. Perfect for this month. This will be a fall rewatch for me. The wife wants to watch it, so I'll probably watch it again soon. Getting a copy of the movie is expensive now. Glad I got mine before they got out of my price range.

    I thought that was Pam Grier. I recognized her in the beginning.
    I haven't seen this movie or read this book and I plan on listening to the audiobook soon. I have heard it is a great story so I plan on checking it out. I looks like an interesting story.
    I love the Disney movie Dragonslayer. The special effects in that movie are awesome. Tron and the Black Hole a cool movies as well. Disney has a lot of cool things to watch. I love the cartoons they have made. There are a lot of great ones.

      Her name was on the tip of my tongue when I was watching it. I didn't know that Dragonslayer was a Disney produced film. That show had great practical effects. Watched the Black Hole last year, and it's still a great story. I think you'll like Something Wicked This Way Comes. Good atmospheric read for this time of year.

    I have a habit of looking up the ages of all the actors during filming - You Saved Me From Doing That Myself - please consider adding the ages to future videos, it's a great bonus :)

      Will do. It's a fun game we play. In the future, I'll pop the age up a few seconds after my guess that way viewers get a chance to think about it. It's a work in progress. Thanks for watching.

      @@RowdyPlayer1 I guess it was one of those production nightmares where they had to go back for reshoots and jazz it up a bit with action and effects. Still a charming story with a good relationship between a dad and son. Fun to watch.

    This movie is kinda dark for kids movie. But maybe mature the better word. I wasn't a happy child, so I recognized early and didn't like dark themed books and movies. You know because these older classics often touch subjects like desperation, hopelessness and depression of adulthood, desire to be important, giving up dreams, etc. That's why I loved the more formulaic fast paced detective books growing up. Because I hated learning about the characters and their sadness and low points. Because I understood it. Why the fuck am I yapping on here randomly? Beats me. I'll check out this guy's other videos. I can't watch this movie again.

    • @someothercharacter
      @someothercharacter  2 місяці тому

      @muhammadilhamafdillah3340 I think you hit on why I never watched the whole film as a kid. Something was off with this Disney film. Older dad who is feeling is age, people in town desperate for change, lives not fullfilled....it didn't sit well with me. Now I can appreciate what the film was trying to do. And not a bad movie overall. Great insights, thanks for watching.

    Glad to see you got my shipment of Jae's Coffee. Sorry my think tank said we should only sell K-cups. I know your not a fan of those but people who shop at Walmart prefer K-cups. I never snuck out of the house when I was 12. I'm not going to lie I was kind of hoping we learned where babies came from... he kept wanting to have that "talk" and yet he never got to it. Frustrating... guess I still have to wait to figure that out. BTW That hand was just a flesh wound... what a crybaby. Is that a microphone jack-o-lantern? Twilight Zone use to do a bunch of those type of making a deal with the devil and end up getting screwed... I didn't guess ages very well myself. And was that guy you needed to look up...was he on Andy Griffith show? Ok I made enough comments. Another great video my friend.

    • @someothercharacter
      @someothercharacter  3 місяці тому

      @@FacelessBookReviews The coffee had notes of goats and donkeys. Are the beans one of those deals where you let a farm animal eat it first then roast what comes out? Maybe too heavy with the goat essence. I guess the dad could still file his books and papers with a bone protruding from his hand. Just shake it off and rub some dirt on it like a man. The microphone has a 😃 face sticker on it. Very upscale. The Twilight Zone did have a lot of devil-deals and so did The Outer Limits if I recall right. I was pretty close on a few ages but way off on the "old" guys who were younger than what Tom Cruise is now. And that actor was on the Andy Griffith Show. He looked so familiar but I wasn't going to do any research before or during the film. I'm picking up your K-cups now. Almost sold out!!!!

    I didnt think all the constant belching was funny, and you were blaze & cynical through out.
    other good fall/Autumn films...1980s- GHOST STORY if you havent seen it (also a fly below radar underrated rare horror film)

    • @someothercharacter
      @someothercharacter  3 місяці тому

      After much consideration and viewer feedback, the belching will be greatly curtailed. Sometimes, my hyena acts up when I'm drinking coffee and I got to let it loose. I'm not sure what blaze is, but it sounds cool. And I'm cynical that's just me. Years of hard mileage and growing up poor on the streets will do that to you. If you are talking about the 1981 Ghost Story, I have not watched it, and since you reminded me of it, I'll probably watch it on Monday. I'm in the mood for a good supernatural film. I've been meaning to get around to it for years, but keep forgetting about it. Looks like it's free on streaming. Thanks for watching, the feedback and movie recommendation.

      @@someothercharacter My pleasure
      Another great film sci fi/horror, I thought of was- DEMON SEED...1977, again another quiet buried by time cult classic, starring Julie Christie (NOT an Autumn/fall film, but you do seem to have a taste for more alternative rare films like me) SOMETHING WICKED was a very well made clever film, that could have been written by Steven king (I'd have liked to know his opinion on the film) my only critisism was the hall of mirrors scene that some how looked very 80s rock video out of place.

    • @someothercharacter
      @someothercharacter  3 місяці тому

      @nigeldonaldson1647 I see Demon Seed is free on Tubi. Put it on my watch list. My recommendation for you would be "The Brood" by David Cronenberg. Stephen King wrote a rejected script for Something Wicked and I'm kinda curious too what he had put to paper for his version.

      @@someothercharacter Ive seen THE BREED Some years ago, but I wasnt so keen, I also saw SCANNERS (A bit better) VIDEODROME etc
      I'm not a Cronenberg fan generally, but I'd say THE FLY remains his best film, perhaps because it was his first studio film, which meant it was classier & less of a cheap independent splatter movie.
      THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN 1977 is still fun, but a prime candidate for a remake)

      @nigeldonaldson1647 I watched Ghost Story last night. My takeaways:
      1. Liked the practical effects, especially at the end. Really gross.
      2. Running time was about 15 minutes too long. Could have tightened it up a bit.
      3. Acting was great. Good casting.
      4. Nice atmosphere/setting for a winter ghost tale.
      5. Good plot with a mystery.
      It is a recommend.
