An Unknown UNSC ship that served in the Human-Covenant War, and no doubt played no small part in the eventual victory for humanity. There were probably few types of this ships before the start of the war, but no doubt there were no more after it considering materials use to make it.
Honestly, I'd love to see your take on more Halo ships (Covenant and Human alike). Obviously not asking you to become another Space Dock, but I really appreciate the level of detail you get into (like exploring the company that made the ship, and other relevant lore details) .
Yeah, and unlike some other UA-camrs (cough-cough EckhartsLadder cough-cough) Meta actually does his research and provides an objective commentary without throwing in his personal biases. Sorry if you're an EckhartsLadder fan and I've upset you, but the way I see it the guy really needs to drop the "Star Wars fuck-yeah" attitude in his versus videos.

You...do realize this is an utterly brain dead comparison, right? ISDs, like all SW ships, are already very heavily automated. A large portion of that crew is non essentials and troops. By all means, if you want to get into a pissing contest in "who's better at automation?", than SW wins near effortlessly, seeing how the Death Stars exist, in all their couple million-odd crew glory.

Halo is our world in the future. Star Wars is our world far away and in the far past. They could technically be linked and have it make sense in your head cannon. After all, the universe in SW is our universe. My head cannon is the flood made their way to the SW galaxies and wiped them out and by the time their 'dust' made it back to the milky way ancient humans were discovering it from strange (SW era) ships.

The epoch is a carrier not cruiser, The MAC guns easily cut trough covenant armour, so could UNSC missiles the problem was the covenant shields, for that the MAC had to be used, but they could pierce the shields.
FYI, an in universe for the slight differences would be different year production models. Say, updated/refit versions of the epoch. I mean, if you look at an original Halcyon and a refit halcyon, there is a pretty big difference.
If there is one Video game that i love the lore of, It is probably Halo. There is so much lore from these games. Can't wait till you do the Phoenix class ships ( á la Spirit of Fire) and the Scarab!
Have you thought of doing a breakdown of the Stalwart, Charon, and Paris Class Frigates from the mainline games? there can never be enough in-depth videos as every video that comes out always adds a little the others didn't know or corrects what they got wrong.

The Engine Block isnt that big on the Epoch 3. The Slanted Plating on the Epoch is lower, while the Athens has a configuration similar of that to a Pheonix Class.

when you show APFSDS which, also a SABOT, but is an upgraded version of APDS which was just what was explained, smaller caliber, cased in a SABOT, APFSDS added fin stabilizers to help with longer ranged shots and improved flight ballistics
That is an awesome and accurate breakdown. But, I am wondering about a single mention in this particular case, about its fighters. And I am talking about YSS-1000 “Sabre”. I pretty much sure, that those were highly classified ones, and only been used exclusively for orbital defense. Because of loss of Reach and therefore most of the facilities that repaired and constructed these fighters, they were very, very rarely used in combat, especially navy, because they were designed for planetary defense. Most of them were housed in Sol system, and program was, basically, discontinued. Of course, there was a program of SS-1000 Sabre program, but those ones gone in limited production as well. In conclusion, it is not possible for use of them as normal fighters for navy branch of UNSC and even for carriers, such as Epoch. Therefore, there were none used as normal fighters for carriers, or other ships.
Bröther, I've gotten back into Halo ships and lore and I would L O V E if you covered the Charon class Frigate. It's not well armed but is a specialized ground assault ship and I always found that a interesting function. Not as lumbering as an Orion and can still carry a ton of equipment (Forward Unto Dawn and Aegis Fate show this). I could see it carrying a variety of ground assault and space based fighters depending on mission need. Its no small part in the battle of Voi show its importance. Separately, I'm starting to look into the controversy of 343's handling of the Halo IP but I will say that their design of the the new frigates are honestly amazing.
I gotta say, I respect the halo series for making different parts of the world relevant, like Africa having mega cities and Asia being a producer of military equipment rather than just western everything

800 seems like a really small Marine detachment for a ship this size. a US Navy LHD-1 can carry a maximum of over 1800 Marines and its almost exactly 1/10th the length and like 1/500th the displacement. always wondered why that was.
Reach comic is the Athens class now i think, and the Animated sorta looks like the thermopylae. Though Halo ship class names are always getting swapped around, at least the more obscure ones.

I always wanted to know what the UNSC did for armor and I'm amazed they have all that in a ship, like a Paris Class Heavy Frigate would have 60 cm's of titanium A battle plates, thermal super conducting radiators, layer or layers of elastic polymers and intermetallic laminate, with in between the armor plate exterior and interior would be filled with the shock hardening fluid gel thing. Then you get to the bigger ships with a meter and up to 5 meters of titanium A battle plates I think? with a lot more elastic polymers and intermetallic laminate and the gel shit. Overall that sounds strong but then you cut to a Marathon Class Heavy Cruiser being gutted like nothing, WHICH BY THE WAY had nearly 2, 2!! meters of titanium A battle plating and all the other layers of thermal super conducting radiators, layers of elastic polymers and intermetallic laminate with shock hardening fluid, All that armor and preparations being gutted in like 2 or 4 seconds. Yeah this is why I love Halo and it's ships, (MOSTLY THE UNSC) They're built for war and to dash out damage hey I mean look at the Halcyon Light Cruiser with it's honey comb structure.

Where's the map at 3:28 from? Also, kinda useless for this, but the animated short Origins Part 2 features a Halcyon-class firing its Helix's at a couple of Phantoms. If you need to reference it again, thats a good place to start.
The Epoch is 5 times the size of a frigate. A frigate fired a 600 ton slug round; so does that mean the Epoch can fire a 3k ton slug? If I had to guess I would say it could fire a 1500 ton slug because there had to be space for fighters and ground vehicles and that means less space for reactors.
I rather like the ship design, the gap in it is something im unsure why they have in the design. I wander if any epoch that heavily modified to carry more ground forces on it much like the cruisers, frigates, and super carriers.

Most UNSC military assets were created around 2200 to 2300s to maintain colonial peace. Wasn't til after the war they had to play catch up.

It really bothers me how the Forward Unto Dawn seemingly goes from being one of the Frigate classes in Halo 3, to suddenly being an Epoch in Halo 4.
It was a strident in halo 4, the epoch is much much larger, but that also bothered me to as there was literally no need to change it

The Epoch is 5 times the size of a frigate. A frigate fired a 600 ton slug round; so does that mean the Epoch can fire a 3k ton slug? If I had to guess I would say it could fire a 1500 ton slug because there had to be space for fighters and ground vehicles and that means less space for reactors.
How many 709 Longswords could attached outside of an Epoch?
Just saying : the UNSC most likely had only a dozen or two of these at most, as they were utterly decimated at the end of the war.

Where did you get that map of the pre-War Milky Way?
I rather like the ship design, the gap in it is something im unsure why they have in the design. I wander if any epoch that heavily modified to carry more ground forces on it much like the cruisers, frigates, and super carriers.
