UNSC ships remind me of good ole post WWI to WWII U.S. Navy. Big and bulky ready to throw down round after round. New U.S. Naval ships are like forerunner tech. Sharp angles and super sleek, fast and smart but frail in comparison to old school.

You know what I really appreciate? That part that's mentioned where the Infinity is the most powerful ship fielded by *modern* humanity. Not much is said about ancient humanity's ships, but one must assume they were far more powerful than what the UNSC has at the moment.

It was decided quite a ways in to the development of the game so the terminals, dialogue and outside media all tell a different story (hence the confusion). 343 had nothing to do with the decision.

If the rest of the team at Bungie wanted the Forerunners to be something else than humans then they'd still keep it surrounder in an aura of mistery and good writing rather than turning them into the very antithesis of what they once were.

@@bowmin1 It seems as if the writing team in Halo 3 wasn't all in agreement. Everything you said is true, but 343 Guilty Spark also told Chief he is Forerunner just before you fight him.
Additionally, in the book Contact Harvest, which released after Halo 3, the Forerunner AI Mendicant Bias says to the 3 Prophets:
"For eons I have watched. Listened to you misinterpret. This is not "Reclamation". This is "Reclaimer." And those it represents are my makers."
The word "reclaimer" itself hints to this, as you can't reclaim something you never owned. It seems that early Bungie was going with Humans being Forerunners, but their minds changed during Halo 3, causing some split. I honesty would have prefered if the Humans were Forerunners. It comes with the irony of the Covenant killing the people they worship. And since the races were re-seaded after the rings fired, then technically, the Humans are getting killed by their own creations. Terminator level irony.

My favorite parts of the Halo books was reading about UNSC tech, strategy and ONI information. Whether it was the ships, basic tech, training programs, black ops by ONI, etc. It was my favorite parts to read. I hate that 343 went so over the top with the Forerunners and this prophecy stuff that the Chief was destined to save the galaxy. What made Halo great in the beginning to me was that it was grounded in reality. To can picture the human technology in this universe cause its base tech is stuff we see today and are trying to develop. I liked at the start of the Halo universe that theForerunners were a mystery. A super powerful and intelligent race but we didn't know alot about them. I liked the idea of them being a race so smart that they were above destroying each other and wanted to protect the universe. They tried to save it from the flood and sacrificed there whole species to stop it. I loved the mystery on how they created weapons that could destroy the universe or atheist had the ability to develop weapons like that but were smart enough to know that no one should hold that much power atleast until they had no other options against the flood. But then they had to write theForerunners back into life with the Didect and librarian. And now have all these forerunners popping up to fight humans. It ruins it for me so I stick to the old books. I love reading about the UNSC and ONI. Parangowsky is my favorite and love the black ops stuff she does. Reading about the space battles like the Keyes maneuver was awesome. Reading about the Spartans 3 training with the SPI armor was awesome. Even learning about the Elite home world and their way of life as warriors was great. But I can't do the knew stuff that is so forerunner heavy. I wish that it stayed grounded like it was in the past. Fighting the covenant was awesome. Fighting forerunners is not. This is just me bitching I know but the Halo universe has been one of my favs since I played Halo when it first came out and for the first time I was hooked on a game world that I had to go out and buy the Fall of Reach when I saw there was books for Halo. I never done that before but I was hooked. Reading it in like two days then re reading it as soon as I was done. The getting First Strike, then Contact harvest and Cole protocol, Grasslands, Thursday war and so on. I loved them all. But I can't get into the forerunner saga . idk how the majority feel but I wish it would go back to the world pre 343 studios. But I give the credit that they did come up with some great weapons for UNSC. Something I wished they would have done for the Halo games more. When in universe the enemies you face take alot of fire power to take down, it makes no sense why squads of marines are not outfitted with a light machine gun (SAW) like they would be in today's world. Or high caliber assault rifles not just reserved for sniper rifles. More sub machine guns and heavy ordnance. Something like a striker shotgun in today's world would be perfect in Halo. And it would even be more powerful. Imagine fighting the flood with a automatic shotty. It be so fun. Updating halo a bit to be able to have a little control of the marines and helljumpers who fight next to chief, so can perform basic tactics like cover fire, suppressing or recon. Being able to outfit a squad for a mission. Updating guns should have been UNSC first priority. You can use same guns in a war against high tech, super strong alien races who been bred for war with same guns you were using to battle rebel humans with no hardcore armor or shields. A rail gun should have been first thing since you had the tech for your ships you could have made it for soldiers. Better assault rifles with grenade launchers. More light machine guns, better ordnance such as artillery, mortars, air strikes. Imagine being able to call down a Mac cannon round, archer missle attack against covies or even a napalm attack against a field of flood. I never understood why at the very least they didn't have mini guns on vehicles. Yeah I know they had a 50.chain gun but that should been a light machine gun for Spartans in a war like this. Idk its just what I think. Not like it matters. Maybe I should try and write my own story Haha. It will suck but atleast I can see how some stuff would play out in my head.
P.s. there be no way in hell that the military would ever quit using jet aircraft like raptors and use strictly Hornets which are more helicopter. In this world a air force jet would destroy a banshee because of speed alone. No way is a banshee even doing a fourth of its top speed. I know they have longswords and whatever the ones were in Reach but they were only ever used in space. On the ground besides having Spartans, today's military seems better outfitted to take on covenant than the army in halo set 500 years from now.

Thomas C. Idk man, I really loved the Forerunner trilogy, it really fleshed them out as a race and I’d love to see humanity become that advanced one day. The most powerful race in the galaxy couldn’t stop the flood which only makes it more terrifying as a threat, and I love it! It also brought ancient humanity into it which was such a creative move. Just imagining that humans were once a spacefaring super advanced civilisation fills me with awe. Some of the structures we see may even be ancient human.

The 5 executors would win easily, the covenent used imperfect forerunner tech which was vastly weaker(more than 10 times weaker) than actual forerunner technology used by the humans after the war, and also a weaker than star wars tech(in the half or two thirds range). A super-carrier would win in a 1 v 1 only from being twice the size, probably 8/10 but in a 2 v 5 they would lose 9.5/10.

Actually, both a roughly comparable. The X-Wing has the firepower, shielding and avionics advancement, but it would be a far closer match than an X-Wing versus an ARC-170.
If both were flown by clone plots, and dogfight could go on for quite some time. It all comes down to positioning and being able to simply tank hits.
The X-Wing is far more survivable, but I feel that the Z-95 might have the slight edge in tactical position (It can get where it needs to be a little easier than the X-Wing)

i will point out one thing on the Autumn class cruisers - 3 shot mac cannons had existed prior to that, with the Pillar of Autumn actually having one. so the MAC was not attributable to Forerunner tech, though the shields are. the autumns reason for being a cruiser wasn't its offensive capabilities, it was the fact that it could sustain damage to the point that 90% of its structure is critically compromised and it could still fight. the Pillar of Autumn was quite possibly the most durable ship in the fleet prior to the events of the first Halo, where it went "boom".

Its not powerful at all. Its only noted for being a dedicated carrier. Its a heavily modified COLONY ship. So instead of weapons (aside from support) its can sustain a planetary campaign on its own (even has a mini-factory inside)

The Spirit of Fire is equipped with several weapons including multiple Mac Guns, missile launchers, and several standard ship to ship weapons. All of which were displayed during the campaign mode of Halo Wars.

The Phoenix was carrier but noted that it was the weakest of the carrier class because it wasn't originally designed for combat. It serves as a great support vessel for ground forces.

OMG the autumn class if my fave ship, fuck the rest.
I read the fall of Reach, it was actually one of the first books I would seek out because I was such a fan, having played Halo 1, 2, and 3, I really wanted to know more about the lore and while it was difficult at first (as always when starting with a new lore) I really loved the Pillar of Autumn and how it was described, specially the upgrades, and was kinda sad that they never got to field those upgrades.
When you mentioned Autumn and the Tri-MAC I just had my fave.

The Strident will win 7/10. Concussion/Particle shields or not, the Strident's MAC will simply overmatch the relatively weak shielding of the Arquitens.
Not to mention that turbolasers are superheated plasma-based artillery and the shields of the Strident were made to withstand an assault from Covenant superheated plasma weapons.

Hey man I'm totally in love with your videos and how in depth your knowledge is. I've always made crossovers with star wars and halo and you've made this fantasy a reality. I really really want to help you out, and I don't want any compensation, I just want to help. On that note I love animating and whenever you do versus I'd love to help make some cool military battle scenarios like with grids and simple vectors that look like the ships to give your viewers a better representation for what the battles look like.
