I landed in El Nido on a little boat as a refugee from Vietnam in 1989 aka group 247 El Nido was the official way to identify people from that boat which totaled of 247 souls on board. It was a raining and cloudy the day I landed, and as I remembered walking on beach like a drunken sailor due to the fact that we have spent a week crammed on our little boat crossing the sea to Philippines . We definitely hold the record for the biggest group of Vietnamese refugees who have ever landed there. I remembered the kindness of the local people, and I did return there one more time as a Vietnamese refugee Boy Scout. There are some beyond beautiful beaches in Palawan, and El Nido is among the top !!!
I would say El Nido is a bucket list destination I will be visiting in the not-so-far future, thanks for the tour, as always you guys are always thorough with your pricing points and highlights.
Thanks so much for the info! We are retired now and living in Costa Rica. We saw some of your videos from your time in Costa Rica, as well as videos in Nicuragua. I think we'll end up following you around or end up in the same place sometime.
Thank you Richard Haughton, I feel very lucky to be living this life. I can't think of anyone in the world I would trade places with. Thanks for watching and commenting Richard Haughton, you are helping all of our dreams to come true. Best, Dan
I have been to the Phil. but not El Nido, I would like to visit, the last I was in Luzon for about a month and say Manila(for wedding), Tagaytay, Baggio, Nuova viscaya Tuguegarao(Hospital stay for a day $30), Santa Ana it was a fast trip so we really didn't see much from now on I think we will stay at least a 3 days in each area to really see what it has to offer
Palawan, I like to visit Palawan island. The tourist place everyone mentions in conversations about the Philippines. Thanks for the great content you provided. Keep safe , but continue to enjoy your adventures. From New York City… I’m Mitch. Bye ✌️
$92 for a scooter for the month in Dumaguete. Where do you rent them?? Obviously that’s a monthly discount. When I was there I didn’t do much shopping around but a couple bike shops wanted 500 pesos a day.

I had an idea for some future videos in any downtime from travel. I don’t watch older videos on budgets from other channels because so much changed everywhere during Covid and inflation etc. Covid prices and rates were unnatural. I think you could rerelease your same videos from a few years ago but with some research to update the price of the hotels, food etc. So much great work over the past five years photos and video creation is still highly valuable with an update you could do from your home office.
Do either of you know if there is anyone in PH that still makes the salt from mature leaves of the buah nipah palm? It is a very long process. Very labor intensive. I forgot where it was once made. From what I do remember is cost a bit.
Dan, Great informative video about El Nido. We have been thinking about a trip there. Where did you guys travel from or how did you travel? We live in Davao City? Thanks
We flew to Puerto Princesa from Manila and took a minivan to Puerto Princesa. We then took the 5day 4 night Tao experience from El Nido to Coron and then flew from Coron back to Manila.

Hello Vagabonds, you have been discussing alot about how much it takes to live there. I'm just curious which insurance you're using since you guys are traveling the world?
On my current trip, I visted Makati, Cebu, Iloilo, El Nido, Coron, Boracay, and Dumaguete. Of these, the only ones I'd visit again are Coron and Dumaguete. Makati and Cebu are big dismal cities. Iloilo has no personality or beauty. El Nido is nice for a week, but gets boring after that. It's too small and strictly a tourist town. Boracay is a special place, but too popular and expensive. After a week, I was glad to leave. As a slow traveler, I look for places with natural beauty, lots of good restaurant and cafe options, not too expensive accomodations, and that have a walkable proper downtown. After three trips to the Philippines, Coron and Dumaguete are the only places I'd enjoy staying for a few months.
Thanks Dan, I found this really helpful. I will be in the Philippines for the first time, starting with Dumaguete at first. I will have to check out Coron as well. Definitely not into big cities.
Well said Dan Chatka! Thanks for adding value to the community. Everyone is different so it is good to hear varying perspectives. Thanks, Dan Have you seen our UA-cam country playlists yet? ua-cam.com/users/VagabondAwakeplaylists
Great informations Dan , we see New world Economic Reset impact everywhere in the world , housing , food and services more expensive everywhere in the world as a expat , we see what is going on with the end of this year , new waves of viruses , new vaccines etc ,

I remember that happing. It was global news.
Very cool. Yes, I have a friend that came over to the USA at the same time. Political refugees. Very high quality people.
This simple hair style is well suited for Qiang. It gives her face definition.
El Nido looks like the real deal Dan and Qiang! Good information related to a 30-day budget while staying in El Nido. You guys rock!
Thank you for the informative video, as always! Qiang your hair looks beautiful! 🥰💗
Another fun and informative video from Dan & Qiang! You two really compliment each other like cream and sugar! Thanks and keep them coming:)

Do a week in each spot minimum, in my opinion. :-)
That pretty well spells it out for you to get the picture. It is a puzzle for one to put together and modify to your liking.
The internet report was exceptional
Wow.....that is a great budget .....even for a Single.👍🏾👍🏾my sights are On Palawan...!!!
Pleased to see Qiang’s fringe growing back.....

Yes, you have to rent monthly. Daily is always much higher.
Hi. What is the hostel name? I generally only stay in my own room like you both did. Great to hear the news on costs

Hey Dan if El Nido is not the best in the world, which is the best on your opinion since you have traveled the world. Thanks!
I do an annual report on this: ua-cam.com/video/_NQbgaKHcGY/v-deo.html
A place like el Nido is you have to leave so you can experience the joy of returning.

Great idea. Thanks for the idea. We don't have a home office though. We would just do it from where ever we are in the world.

I have not heard of that Dennis. Sorry.
@@VagabondAwake I found it It is made at the Sambali Beach Farm on the West coast. North of Subic bay. I did not calculate the distance.

Dan…can you explain the devaluation adjustment and devalued total? Thanks.
Those numbers are on the web page. Click the first link in the notes below this video. :-)
Gosh I wish I had Qiang’s metabolism
Thanks again for your informative videos. Can you provide me with the name and contact information for the hostel where you stayed in el Nido

Eleven bucks for hair cut in Philippines is expensive. I usually pay 2 or 3 dollars.
Hello Vagabonds, you have been discussing alot about how much it takes to live there. I'm just curious which insurance you're using since you guys are traveling the world?
Great video
Is this a place one could retire, or not enough basic services for long-term stay?
thank you

$11 haircut? You threw that in near the end just to see who was watching until the end. You get 6 months worth of haircuts for $11 in the PI.
If you get a haircut once a month then that would be $6 for six months on a local barber shop
1104$ ...are you driving a Mercedes....daily?
We ride public transportation. :-)
How do you two stay in such good shape?
We walk everywhere. And I run 5 days a week.
Wow 8:10 absolutely beautiful!
Does she have a sister?
Only three brothers!
$265 for restaurant food that's a lot of food hehe
Yes. We were naughty because we were on holiday. Normally we cook at home more.
$11 haircut? Should be $2.
That ($2) is normally what I spend.
i could watch her all day on the beach lol
Me too.
I KNOW YOU KEEP A STEADY SUPPLY OF ROBUST HAHAHAHA😅😅😅😅
Maybe. What is it?
