Wanna thank ESA again for letting me showcase FF7 :) Had an amazing time being in Europe/Sweden for the first time attending my first ESA & I hope to make it out to another one!
You were very fun and entertaining to listen to for 8 hours. Awesome run of one of the best games ever made, well done! Hope to see more of you in the future (Final Fantasy VII Remake hype?!)
Have been watching this run in segments all week while cooking dinners. Amazing run and I love how passionate people still are about this game all these years later. Big part of my childhood. Mad props to you Dave
Man, this game has been a part of my life since I was a 6 year old kid. I am now a 28 year old man and this game still hits that special spot in my heart. It's such a magical and special game. In my mind it is hands down and without a doubt the best Final Fantasy ever made. No better FF before, and CERTAINLY no better FF has come after. It was just perfect. I remember playing it again about a year ago, probably for the 30th time in my life, when I decided to 100% it. I already had 3 saves, all of them about 80-90% through the game, and it took me a good 4-10 hours in each save to get to the end of Northern Cavern, when I realised that I was missing something in every save and had to start a new game to be able to 100% it. With any other game, I probably would have just given up right there, but with Final Fantasy VII, I didn't even hesitate, started right from the start straight away, and was actually excited that I had to do a 60-80 hour playthrough to get to see everything in this masterpiece of a game. I think that's probably the best way I can describe how amazing this game is.
Amazing run, unfortunate about Carry being so annoying but props to Dave for finishing it. And props to ESA for all their good work, keep being awesome guys!
Run so enjoyable with good commentator and stuff that I didn't mind watching a FF7 speedrun a second time. That and it's actually my first time watching a Dave's speedrun in a marathon, even though I almost always see him in rpg related runs in rpg limit break or gdq xD. Was really curious to see how he plays. And I even learned about the guard skip that wasn't there last time! Too bad for the few things that ruined tha lst part of the game, but thanks for compensating with putting the music back on track : )
Pretty sure the game being referred to around the Jenova-LIFE part is SaGa Frontier, at least for the NTSC-U and Japanese versions. There's a video from 2011 that shows it off with a link to another from 2008 that shows it in the JP version.
Menu routing is standard in most games, you know when to buy and when to equip things. The most impressive part is the fact that every encounter, every step on every hostile screen is mapped. For the entire 7 hours.
Just Cid being tsundere. While Cid claim he doesn't want ot marry her or anything, they still live together and he even gave up his life dream for her, so it was normal to call her Cid's wife, at least in an informal way.
Guys, guys. Don't look now, but I think he may be experiencing some slight input delay. Just kidding. Input delay complaining aside, this was an awesome run, but with multiple people complaining that the monitors weren't timed the same as they had at home or that they were getting lag, it wasn't the best look for an event sponsored by a monitor manufacturer. It's even worse if it was the capture gear or whatever, rather than the screens.
Two year old comment, I know ;-) But if someone is wondering... Jenova Life was trolling with its attacks. They waited until it used up its MP to not do the most dangerous attacks anymore.

Peabob same dude. I watch it in chunks. 💪🏽💪🏽
Should have a million views. This dude has infectious energy.

"Have we even been playing for ten minutes?"
*Timer hits 10:00
"I don't believe so."
1:31:00 Hot damn he was on point.

I just completed the original one for the first time today :) I absolutely loved it now I'm playing ffx
This was a sweet run 😄 congrats to everyone who made this happen!
What an amazing run! Loved it all the way through.

This lvl of VII Is amazing. So much good info and hard work out into this game
Amazing run, unfortunate about Carry being so annoying but props to Dave for finishing it. And props to ESA for all their good work, keep being awesome guys!
Final Fantasy is always so enjoyable at ESA. Props on the FF crew for another great run.
wooo!!!! Get it Dave!
currently forced isolating with daves cozy run
dave is a national treasure
Awesome run, Dave!
Gotta be sure we thank TsunaMods for finding the "Tsuna Skip" (Guard Skip).
That skip is incredible! I’ve always wondered what was behind the guards. I can die peacefully now
Run so enjoyable with good commentator and stuff that I didn't mind watching a FF7 speedrun a second time.

Metako is a perfect commentator, chill, great voice, knows when to talk and when not to.
Went past the estimate, usually don't see that at gdq, still entertaining run

Usually takes me at least 4 hours to get through midgar, if not more. under 4 hours they are at temple of the ancients xD
Go Dave Go! did you go all the way to Europe for this?
33:44 You jinxed it
All the menuing is routed, too? Very impressive.

There should be a Barret%
3:29:50 I thought Cid was pretty clear that Shera is NOT his wife. He says something like "dont even make me think about being married to that &%#%¤!"
It’s revealed in DoC that they later get married
Just Cid being tsundere.
While Cid claim he doesn't want ot marry her or anything, they still live together and he even gave up his life dream for her, so it was normal to call her Cid's wife, at least in an informal way.
CarryArmour was a wall for me when I first played this game, he is a big troll
Red Dragon low level was awful also
Jonathan Davis + FF VII= AWESOME!... LOL

Going from playing the Remake to seeing how quickly the Original gets through Midgar is astonishing how much better and dense the Remake is.
I wanna join! I'll bring my bass or guitar! 1:30:20
Guy in the background at 3:12:44 😂
When were the pee breaks?
GG's, Dave
Will Farrell needs more cowbell, but Dave needs more sweep. Respectable
Ff8 story can be summed up by just saying child soldiers.
Why did Jenova Life attack like ten times in a row
Two year old comment, I know ;-) But if someone is wondering... Jenova Life was trolling with its attacks. They waited until it used up its MP to not do the most dangerous attacks anymore.
so sassy
A shame I have to go so far back just to watch speedruns without woke ideologies forced into it.
