Hi, so how long did you cook the fish before you added the chips?. I would usually add the chips right at the start. I like to try different way to smoke the goldeye, thanks
When I smoke mine the ribs turn out great, firm & flavorful but the back meat is mushier with almost no smoke flavor. Any suggestions? Much appreciated!
Good luck to you! A slip bobber and a small jig (3/16) if in strong current and a piece of a night crawler works really well where I am. Have the bait about 12 inches from the bobber stop. Thanks for watching!
Nice vid, oh and the red colouring common on smoked fish, at least in my neck of the woods, is just food dye. Cheers!
thank you for your comments!

I cooked the fish for about 4 mins.
If you smoke them with diamond willow you will get a darker red colour. I believe that is the traditional wood used for goldeye
You could be right!

My initial thought to mushy meat is the temp may be too low.
Going fishing for a week. Hoping to catch a lot of these guys. First time angler here.

I catch a couple hundred of these a year, no one eats em in the states, I’ll start doing this from now on!

Dunnowhy, they taste better than the catfish they use these as bait for.
