    Crazy thing about this is... I play for a semi pro league, and I'm that one guy on the team who knows he is better than everybody else on the team, but has trouble proving it when the lights come on. I'm also that 1 player that outworks everybody else on the team but it never translates to how I play on the court.. I realized that my FEAR, not confidence, is the reason for me being so passive on the court. Once I can figure out what exactly I'm afraid of, then I truly believe everything else will get out of the way

      Facts bro fear is the biggest enemy. Can definitely relate when u know your the best but that fear cripples your game. If you look back in the past you’ll realize what was the point of fearing

    • @frothyfriz9722

      Looks like your holding too much of an “image” for yourself, might be afraid that if you fail your hurting the team and that if you keep failing you’ll go downhill. Just go full send! Its a team sport so if you’re afraid know there’s 4 teammates looking out for you

    When you defined outside sources as an unreliable source of confidence, that personified me. If I have a "good" game, I was happy, but a "bad" game sent me spiraling into sadness - even despair - and heaping on harsh judgement of not only my game, but chastising myself as a person. But now, you've given me a roadmap to creating my own code to play the game and to live my life based on a code of values I've created. Thank you so much from this 75-year-old baller still in love with the game!

    Thanks so much guys for these videos. Now that quarantine is over, I have changed my mindset completely. Although I still recover from an injury for another 5 months, I am loving every moment I spent on the court, and with my teammates. I feel like I'm at home there, I feel so comfortable. I continue to work as hard as I can, without putting pressure on me that I want to play on a professional level, and enjoy myself in the moment. I don't compare myself in my mind to anybody, I just compete to beat myself and enjoy being there. I also shoot the ball better than ever before (I was always good at shooting), while not even being close to 100%. That's how comfortable I feel thanks to your advice. Thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    This shit is perfect timing ive been through it all so I understand every single freaking word you said, there are games I would miss every shot and the team will win, and there are games I make the first 2 buckets and then shit just falls apart and I don’t score for shit and lose, interestingly enough when I look at PG I think of him as an ordinary guy with an ordinary game that can have strides, I’ve been learning how to be more myself and not give a fuck, and this video is the continuation to that. THANK YOU!

    When asked about what my code is, I thought about what Ive always wanted, Freedom.
    At a point in my life without realizing it Id already developed this code to live by the mantra
    Mantra:
    “Ill do what I want”
    So Im going back to that. At that point I was the most confident Id ever been.
    My reason for choosing freedom is because its a big umbrella for things like Integrity, courage, etc.
    Just by wanting to do something, Ill do it
    Ive always hated being held down and being limited by others so thats where it developed from

    Hey Coach Taylor, great video. These are gems and this video probably took years of experience and failures and trials to get out and I appreciate you so much for that. Just one question, the three outer confidence "variables" are success, validation and comparison. So for success, it's having courage regardless of success or failure. For validation, it's always having that intergrity so you don't need validation from others because you know who you are. For comparison, what would the value be? Instead of always downing your self trust and saying you are the best at the court, knowing you may not be damages your self trust. So what would be a moral code to help make comparison an inner confidence thing?

    • @DeepGameBasketball
      @DeepGameBasketball  Рік тому +1

      The simple answer to all three of these is that we want our confidence to be internally generated, rather than externally. Of course, external confidence will come and go, but ideally it should really only be the final 1-2% if even contributing to your confidence at all.
      In the case of comparison, the answer is to just not compare at all =) Understanding that each person is different, will have different hurdles to overcome, and different innate strengths as a foundation. Seeing things that way, it's pretty much meaningless to compare your external world to others.
