AWESOME video - as a Native NYer raised on bagels, it warms my heart to see them so appreciated. The BEST bagels for me will always be H&H on the Upper West Side, now gone the way of so many NY institutions. They were 24hr, you would just go any time day or night and ask what was hot, and that's what you ordered. @Jolly. Did any of the bagel makers happen to mention WHY NY bagels are better? It is because they are boiled in NY water, then baked. Our water is considered "soft"...low in minerals. It comes from the Catskill Mountains in upstate NY. There are places in the US that "import" the water from NY to replicate the texture of NY bagels. It is also why our pizza dough is different. Come to Long Island and try some bagels here - just like The City, with a yummier softer texture at some places. Wanted to add to this after getting to the french toast bagel part - at a place near me, they have something that my former job made up called "The Dirty" - it's a french toast bagel, lightly toasted with butter, ham, sausage, bacon American cheese and 2 eggs over easy or over medium (eggs have to be runny or custard like in the over medium, cook) - Boys - I'm telling you, best thing you will eat.

My heart melted when he gave you a black & white... So New York. Not only the cookie itself but the nice guy who gives you a free one with your order.
Your vids make me so happy. I need to start every morning with a jolly video, so fun and chipper
ahhh, when you guys where at TSB, you were in my neighborhood!! Wish I saw yall while out and about. Love the bagels in NY!
Needed this for when I’m visiting nyc for the first time ever in may!! Really wanna try 2 different places but there’s sooo many. I heard Tompkins, liberty bagel, Brooklyn bagel, Apollo bagel are amazinggggg
I absolutely love NYC bagels! Nothing compares to the bagels on NYC! Any time I go to NYC I make sure I get a dozen! The second place looked amazing! Loved the guys enthusiasm! Bagels are the best when they are freshly made! Sidebar this is the first vid I’ve seen Josh and Ollie not share the same food! Each actually had their own to eat! 😂
I love this NY series. It's really hyped and popular, but I really hope they try the banana pudding from Magnolia's. It's actually worth all the hype imo and I would love to see their reactions lol
Always a jolly day when Jolly uploads a new segment!!
I love the second stores guy! He was so great!! 😂😂
“That bagel’s hot!” “Yeah, oh yeah, it’ll burn your hand off” 🤣🤣
I've never been this early. As an American I love yall videos Jolly. Thanks for the great content
Now that's a guy that knows how to market his business and is enjoying life. He saw you guys and took full advantage.
You really can just get a different bagel every day for breakfast and be totally happy. I have gone weeks straight just starting my day with different bagel orders and I have never been dissatisfied.
Facts!!!
i loved this episode a whole lot more thanks to the really friendly and nice staff at the bagel places!
I grew in NJ across the GWB from Manhattan. Bagels in NY and NJ are a tradition. I like the Jersey from Tompkins square bagels. Taylor ham, Egg and cheese. yum!!
Yes!! I live outside of Nashville but a family from New Jersey moved to my town and opened a bagel shop. The pork roll, egg and cheese on an everything bagel is one of the best things I've ever tasted
The reason why NY bagels taste so good is due to NYC water. Same with pizza. It makes a big difference.
As a native New Yorker living in AZ, this made me long for a bagel. You just can’t get good bagels (or pizza for that matter) here. I was salivating throughout this video! 🤤
Try the King Arthur baking bagel recipe, it's really good (if you are at all comfortable baking). It's a bit of work but they are really good bagels. If I give them a choice my parents will ask for those over me bringing them a dozen bagels from NYC.
@@sarahvnyc Thank you, Sara! I will give that a try.
The NY bagels are the best on earth, I’m so glad both shops showed up for y’all, perfect representation of the food culture
Okay, we're getting closer to New York Jewish food. Bagels are like level one of that. Now you need to try Jewish deli.
Also, my great-grandmother swore up and down until the day she died that our family brought the bagel to America. But she said a lot of things.
When I heard the bacon 🥓 on a bagel 🥯! That is just not kosher! 😂
I second this! Katz’s! 👍👍
And you're so excited about American food. Thank you for coming to America and trying out just about everything with such enthusiasm. I love your channel ❤
I'm loving these New York videos. Making me homesick. A great town to eat in :)
Have now lived in NYC longer than anywhere else. Having a grand time eating my way through the city.
Ollie, your attempts at WOOOO have absolutely made my day. My dog started howling and I was laughing so hard I was having trouble breathing. Please...for the love of all things food, end every video with a WOOOOO. That has to be the new signoff, at least for a while.
Feeding someone is showing love
*Jolly is the best commentary ever. Once I saw one of your channels videos, having been a big fan of 'the korean englishman', I knew I was hooked. Honestly when you are on TKE but don't talk as much, I feel like it's a missed opportunity. Keep being JOLLY good.*
Please!!! Go get the British Highschoolers and take they with you across America. The views and likes would be insane!!
I had a lox bagel from Tompkins this year. It was $20 but it was so worth it. 10/10 would recommend. They do usually have a very long line but def worth the wait.
NYC Bagels are so good and unique because of the NYC water! It is pure, untreated, protected Catskill Mountain spring water. That is why the Pizza and Bagels in NYC are just different and impossible to recreate anywhere else.
You guys are killing me! 😂😂😂 I’m from NY - and you haven’t yet featured the types of bagels themselves, a hearty source of preferring!!! Plain, sesame, salt, ET, onion, garlic, cinnamon raisin, - just to start. It is soooo much fun watching you enjoy yourselves- thanks for the happys!
Oh and I almost forgot - my Mom’s creation, so good: top the bagel with cream cheese, Swiss cheese, and a honking beautiful slice of fresh tomato…. Heaven!
