For anyone wondering: Speculoos is a dutch shortcrust cookie akin to gingerbread but with a different flavour focus. You may also know it as the brand name lotus biscoff.
Trader Joe’s imports quite tasty speculoos from Belgium… along with butter almond thin rectangular cookies I like and some lovely shortbread ones I’ve bought the “real” version of in almost identical packaging (same goes for some cheeses I can get half price at TJs like Gruyère)… actually, all their imports are solid (though the Aussie sweets are wayyyyy too sugary!); the US made stuff is lackluster by comparison (oily, waxy, artificial like they didn’t use the right flavor compounds). They even import frozen japchae and plain, recipe-ready rice cake discs from Korea (the japchae needs extreme tweaking but when I need a meal in 5, I throw it in the microwave, toss some spices, a bit of soy sauce, sesame oil, and sometimes green onions or garlic chives or just pickled veggies and kimchi I -do- eat loads of in a bowl, and stir the noodles into what I’ve whipped together. Sometimes I add shrimp that were already cooked the day prior to it. Not amazing, but making my own is a bit tedious since I don’t eat much by way of starchy foods so a single serving makes more sense than having sacks of rice or glass noodles sitting around getting old when I work too many hours to do much cooking this time of year.
I love how you're just standing in the parking lot trying all these snacks😂 I wonder what everyone walking in to Trader Joes thought when they saw 2 random guys just snackning away outside😂

But that's how much we want a store here - we'll buy marked up stuff from some guy illegally. I have definitely gone on a mini roadtrip just to go to TJ's with a friend.

I worked at Trader Joe's for almost 6 years before I moved to Korea in 2020. It's one of the BEST jobs I've ever had and this made me miss all of the food. Then, I see that there is a Barnes & Noble beside this TJ's . I worked at a B&N before working at TJ's and it was my all time MOST FAVORITE job I've ever had. This video really made me miss home soooooo much😪
I used to live near the original Trader Joe's in CA where I was introduced to their wonderful products. For a long time, you had to be in CA to go to a Trader Joe's and now they're in most places. When I moved to RI after being in CA for nearly 20 years, the first place I went to was Trader Joe's as I felt homesick for CA. One of their employees gave me a free plant to welcome me to RI!
I found out about TJ’s when I visited San Diego in 1992 and their wonderful dried fruit platters ,brought some back to UK for my mother who adored it! Since then have been a devoted TJ fan and shop there every week, lucky to have one about a mile from my home on Long Island. My friend and neighbor moved to South Carolina and now has to travel an hour to hers ! Glad you can still get a taste of California on RI Now if a British shop opened near me it would be a perfect world!
I've only been to one once and it's because they had just opened one an hour and a half from me. And that's in arkansas and is the only location there that didn't open until a couple years ago lol
If you ever want to try a good store bought Pumpkin Pie, Costco is honestly the best one I have ever had. It is very well balanced on the flavor, it is HUGE but so delicious. You definitely need to try it.
My mom just got one of those Costco pumpkin pies gifted to her for Thanksgiving and my entire family tried it for the first time last month. And it was, as you said, one of the best pumpkin pies I have ever had! Personally, I prefer a purple sweet potato pie over a traditional pumpkin pie. But I realized part of that was because most of the pumpkin pies I had before just weren't all that good, especially if you buy them from the store. And I realized that pumpkin pies that actually put some effort into it and make that custard like filling...now those were a proper pumpkin pie! Plus there was this other, random pumpkin pie slice with this lovely crispy topping that was like a cross between an apple pie and a pumpkin pie--and I don't even like apple pies for the most part--but this? Delicious 🤤. All that is to say, that pumpkin pie is back on my holiday menu lol 😅.
Love watching these videos and was excited to see this one being filmed in my hometown! Josh’s excitement and Ollie’s sense of humor play off each other so well. Trader Joe’s is the best!! 😊
my first trader joes experience was a few weeks ago and it was amazing, and the stuff i got was soooo good, especially the chilly lime chips. we told two workers that is was our first time and they gave us lollipops.... planning to go back soon. there's only one in my area but its no far. miss it.
I went to the US for the first time in my life this year. Stepped into a Trader Joes just to window shop (didn’t know what items people were particularly into there, but knew it was popular so wanted to see what it’s about). I love Reese’s cups so when I walked across the TJ peanut butter cups I knew I had to pick up a pack to try, it was the only thing I bought from TJ. Got back to my hotel and finished the entire packet in less than 2 days with my family 😭 ended up buying them at every city throughout our trip and bought a bunch to get back home 😂
It’s a good thing you only chose one TJ’s item to become addicted to. Come back again. There’s an entire store at your disposal, across multiple stores, across multiple days . . .
They seriously are so much better than Reese’s version and it’s because of the better quality chocolate used ,they also made chocolate oranges superior to Terry’s of York but sadly discontinued this Christmas for supplier reasons . This happens a lot at TJ’s ,you just get to love a product then suddenly it’s gone from shelves forever. 😭
TJ's has been my main go-to for groceries for the past decade. Between that and occasionally Costco. But between the variety and pricing, it's an excellent market. So glad to see you finally made it to one!
I practically lived in Trader Joe's during university, so it's surreal to see Josh and Ollie in one! The chili lime chips and peanut butter cups are classic, though I wish they could have tried Joe's famous frozen orange chicken 😁
We're all going to mention our favourites for sure... I really enjoy the olive bread- lightly toasted with butter... their peanut butter rice krispie bites w chocolate, their puffed corn snacks are addictive, as well as the curls... I use their mushroom-salt seasoning on everything, and the sweet-spiced pecans are tasty. Oh- and their candles in a tin always smell delicious. 😊 And the mango body butter 👍👍
If you want a unforgettable grocery experience, come to Cincinnati and go to Jungle Jim’s. Could also try Cincy Chilli, Larosa pizza (sweet type pizza sauce), and Greaters Ice Cream.
I love Jungle Jim's! I like Graeter's (brown butter bourbon pecan is my fav) but not a fan of chocolate flavoured meat topped with glow in the dark processed cheese. Camp Washington was bad and Skyline was absolutely disgusting.
The pie is only spiced so heavily because NO ONE eats it without whipped cream, and the whipped cream dilutes the flavor. Try it again with whipped cream!
The peanut cups are out of this world! At the holidays they have special jo-jo's. SO good (and dangerous)! I really love a lot of their frozen meals as well.
One of my favorite grocery stores! So happy you got to visit in person this time! It’s true, you can’t get that stuff just anywhere. In the past few years, they’ve added some Korean cuisine! I agree with the everything chips - the seasoning is better by itself. Love this episode guys ❤
Where I live we have the best grocery store on planet earth (Wegmans), so Joe is only reserved for snack runs and specialty items. And it is always a worthy pursuit! Wish you got the ghost pepper potato chips to try!
One of my friends regularly makes the Mochi cake for get togethers, and I love it. Maybe you guys can order the mixes n stuff and try it back in the UK when you have time XD
Not this being the Trader Joe's off Rosecrans and Aviation Blvd in Manhattan Beach CA! Used to work right on that street for 4 years! 😂 Glad you enjoyed the goodies!
😊Pumpkin pie MUST ALWAYS be consumed with Reddi Whip topping. Whip topping cuts through the spices(nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, star anise) and completely mellows the flavor of the pie into a slice of heaven. Enjoy Jolly! 🎉❤😊
You have to have pumpkin pie with whipped cream for it to be correct. That is why the pie needs to be heavily spiced. I actually just use the pumpkin pie as a conduit for the whipped cream. Just sayin’
If you dont mind me asking, why not just eat whipped cream? Or does it like.. perfectly compliment the whipped cream? Ive never been a fan of pumpkin pie so i was curious! Cheers ^^
Their frozen food is SO good. Also, they tend to have a lot of seasonal items that are done once they sell out of stock. They have pumpkin spice flavored everything for fall, and it’s literally an event when they come out with new seasonal items
my partner stocks up on their fall burritos with sweet potato and cranberry in them. he literally walked in from work the other day sad because they had stopped selling them for the season lolol
Literally more than half of the items you guys got are like my usual go-to purchases every time I shop there. I go through everything so quickly that I constantly need to restock. The spinach/kale dip, elote dip, the peanut butter cups, and "takis" are my absolute favorites out of your selection. Their fruit is always top notch and delicious as well. I freaking love TJ's.
You can buy really nice pumpkin pie in the UK at Costco each November. If you share pumpkin pie with anymore British high schoolers, can we please level it up from the depressing looking versions they tried in the first video? 😂
Funny thing in mention that… as I just had some Costco (in US) pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving - and yeah, it was the best pumpkin pie I’ve had in a long time.

Thank you for being so positive!! You always bring joy to so many people!!❤
I worked at Trader Joe's for almost 6 years before I moved to Korea in 2020. It's one of the BEST jobs I've ever had and this made me miss all of the food. Then, I see that there is a Barnes & Noble beside this TJ's . I worked at a B&N before working at TJ's and it was my all time MOST FAVORITE job I've ever had. This video really made me miss home soooooo much😪
Oh my how were you able to move to South Korea please. I would love to know.
@@Jackjackspice I teach English here.
@@dud9083 Thats really cool
You two…AND your crew…are so much fun! The videos never never disappoint and leave me smiling. Always a boost to my mood! 😁😁
As an American it’s hilarious to me how josh and Ollie have been to a Trader Joe’s before me 😂😂
I'll be honest, I thought it was a membership type store, and didnt wanna join up lol. Going to Joes this weekend to fix this.
I've only been to one once and it's because they had just opened one an hour and a half from me. And that's in arkansas and is the only location there that didn't open until a couple years ago lol
Neither have I. The closest is about an hour and a half away in Philly. Will visit someday!
If you ever want to try a good store bought Pumpkin Pie, Costco is honestly the best one I have ever had. It is very well balanced on the flavor, it is HUGE but so delicious. You definitely need to try it.
Not only are they good they’re the size of a steering wheel
They leave it a tiny bit under baked, so we always warm up for 15 minutes in a low oven. Amazing!
Ollie's analogy about Trader Joe's was so funny 😂
Not really , it was kinda disrespectful to religious people
Love watching these videos and was excited to see this one being filmed in my hometown! Josh’s excitement and Ollie’s sense of humor play off each other so well. Trader Joe’s is the best!! 😊
It's amazing how entertaining it is to watch two guys eating. You're both hilarious
I used to work at TJ’s, so many great products. I enjoyed working the demo table, I still use the recipes I learned there 😂
I do love going to TJs, but always end up buying WAY too much snack food.
I can see why!
never a truer statement was said
my first trader joes experience was a few weeks ago and it was amazing, and the stuff i got was soooo good, especially the chilly lime chips. we told two workers that is was our first time and they gave us lollipops.... planning to go back soon. there's only one in my area but its no far. miss it.
I like the way your eyes pop when you really like what you're eating 😊
I started eating dark chocolate from trying European chocolate and I like peanut butter. Those dark chocolate peanut butter cups sound delicious!
@@flowersnycI bet! The variety and quality of items was amazing, I get the hype
Man those I don't know how anyone can eat Reeces with these quality TJ peanut butter cups around. One of the best items at trader joes
I’m not sure if they had it at that Trader Joe’s but they do sell kimbap in the frozen section 😊
I have to admit, TJ's is my go to grocery store. Good prices, great variety!
TJ's has been my main go-to for groceries for the past decade. Between that and occasionally Costco. But between the variety and pricing, it's an excellent market. So glad to see you finally made it to one!
I absolutely love the origin story 😂 thank you for a much needed “joy break”.
You guys should go back for the prepared foods and frozen foods!
I practically lived in Trader Joe's during university, so it's surreal to see Josh and Ollie in one! The chili lime chips and peanut butter cups are classic, though I wish they could have tried Joe's famous frozen orange chicken 😁
That was nice of them to allow you to film. Glad you enjoyed the goodies ❤
You can film wherever you want in public.
@@bethany8734Not always.
For pumpkin pie, you need whipped cream on top. It is required when eating it.
The first time I tried Joe-Joe’s sandwich cookies, I was a little bit hesitant-thankfully, it was the opposite of a bizarre adventure.
If that's the case, then why do I hear the piano from Il Vento d'Oro?
Is this a m***** f****** JoJo reference?
😂😂
IS THAT A JOJO'S REFERENCE?!?!?!?!
Trader Joe's is the best in THE WORLD.
You guys didn't even touch the cooking stuff.. their frozen section is FANTASTIC ❤
You expect them to have an oven in their rental car? STFU
If you want a unforgettable grocery experience, come to Cincinnati and go to Jungle Jim’s. Could also try Cincy Chilli, Larosa pizza (sweet type pizza sauce), and Greaters Ice Cream.
omg Graeter’s mint chocolate chip with the quarter-sized chocolate pieces 😍
You know when something is good when Josh makes his “model” face after a bite 😅
Yes!
I absolutely love you guys...please keep coming back to the USA and exploring its better self!!
Ollie doesn't fail to make me laugh . so funny
This show should be syndicated worldwide. Andrew Zimmern became too abrasive and Guy and Bobby are overexposed.
One of my favorite grocery stores! So happy you got to visit in person this time! It’s true, you can’t get that stuff just anywhere. In the past few years, they’ve added some Korean cuisine! I agree with the everything chips - the seasoning is better by itself. Love this episode guys ❤
Love how much Josh says, “I’d SMASH through these. I’d PLOW through these. These are BANGIN” 😂😂😂
Where I live we have the best grocery store on planet earth (Wegmans), so Joe is only reserved for snack runs and specialty items. And it is always a worthy pursuit! Wish you got the ghost pepper potato chips to try!
We are getting a Wegmans opening Spring 2024 ,never been to one before ,what do you recommend that will compete with TJ?
Cheers ^^
@@AsuraTheBass lol! Good question. And yes, you are correct. It gives a little twist to the whipped cream to balance the flavors.
I love how josh pick the snacks with both hand and eat it one by one 😂
Ain't the lad's first rodeo!
OMG! That's my Trader Joe's!!!! Glad you guys enjoyed it, and you've only scratched the surface.
Ollie is absolutely hilarious 😂 I laugh so hard at his commentary every time I watch y’all
You can buy really nice pumpkin pie in the UK at Costco each November. If you share pumpkin pie with anymore British high schoolers, can we please level it up from the depressing looking versions they tried in the first video? 😂
Funny thing in mention that… as I just had some Costco (in US) pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving - and yeah, it was the best pumpkin pie I’ve had in a long time.
in a taste test Costco's pumpkin pie was number one. Trader Joe's pumpkin pie was far down on the list.
Costco here in Australia sells the pumpkin pie too and it’s delicious.
Omg can attest that Costco’s pumpkin pie is elite!! The only pumpkin pie I want 🤤
As Canadian snowbirds it was always a good day to go to Trader Joe's and Barnes and Noble and a record store. Thanks for the reminder. ❤
God I miss barnes and noble :( it was like my hangout spot when I was younger
@@AsuraTheBassI liked Border's too. Browsing was better there
@@AsuraTheBass Around here, Barnes & Noble’s is reappearing on many College & University campuses. Sometimes they sell the textbooks to students, but they have other things as well! I do remember many happy hours sitting in a comfortably overstuffed chair, reading away. ♥️🔥🛋📖
I went once years ago and grabbed the worst things and always been too overwhelmed to go back - definitely will be going back now with a decent idea of what to try. Thank you for this video!
I moved home to Australia from living in the USA last year. TJ's is literally the only thing I miss (and I miss it a lot!!!).
When my sister lived in Spain, I used to send her care packages from Trader Joe's, filled with stuff she had no hope of finding over there. :)
I’ve never tried the cookie butter with a pita chip though. I do with apples normally.
I’m shocked you guys can eat this much without any beverage
this episode made me so happy hahaha my fav is the dark chocolate peanut butter cups and my heart was over joyed when yall loved it and realized how incredible and superior they are haha
Yes! 🙌🏻 Those are one of my favorite things from TJ’s too!
Ollie coming through with all of the dad jokes! LOL!
Omg almost 4 million subscribers?! Congratulations Ollie! I remember when yall started it! Hahaha i love seeing that yall are thriving! Still learning Korean Ollie?
The more episodes I watch , the more I realize , Ollie s absolutely hysterical.
Too bad the TJ’s kimbap is out of stock, I would’ve love to see what you thought. They limit 2 per customer and very hard to get 😢
I'm not a Trader Joe's person but now I have a lot of products to go try.😊
Pasadena, Ca resident here! Where Trader Joe's first began. Ive loved it growing up and I'm always excited for what new products they bring out. I loved watching you two enjoy all their snacks, I hope you got some of their frozen food items too! It's cool that I know exactly what you are tasting, in comparison to some of your other videos that I've never tried the food before.
Holy dang! That's MY Joe's! I was thinking it had a similar layout, then when I saw the stores surrounding it, I knew! Wonder what brought you to my neck of the woods.
