The get rid of the peak vibration/droning on my vilijord Nexx helmet I actually did 2 minor modification. 1. Use a black peace of lead (used by wheel calibaration) and glue it under the top of the peak. 2. Cut a 2 small pieces rubber (inner tyre of a bicycle) and make a hole in these rubbers. Place these rubbers where the peak is mounted on the helmet.
I have and still use my XD1 and could never get rid of the peak vibration/droning so just ended up not using it. Even without the peak it's a noisy beast, ear plugs a must, great to see they have made some improvements on what is otherwise a good helmet. Doesn't sound like they have quite cracked that peak issue though which is a shame.
Hi Terry, same experience with me for the XD1 (and my particular bike at the time). There is still a little resonance, but its nowhere near what I was experiencing with the old helmet, which became unwearable. It think its down to how its fixed to the helmet and thus transfers the slight vibration into the shell
Great review! And the fact that you have responded to all questions males you a great resource thank you for that! I am torn between two very different and great helmets. This one you just reviewed and the AGV sport modular. I mostly ride on pavement but like to have the possibility to ride off-road. Wondering if you ever worn the agv sportmodular and how these two compare on road, confort and noise. Again love your channel man!
Thanks, I tryto respond to all the comments, except the weird ones! Yes I reviewed the sport modular a little while ago. Both great helmets but quite different of course. The AGV is lighter, but possibly a littel noisier (but that does depend on fit), but it is really well put together. Of course there is the new Nexx Vilijord which is essentially a mix of the two...
I compare the two in static only, but the airoh is like a cross helmet light, but seems small only 2 shells if i'm not wrong, I use XL, so this airoh is ok if you are max L size and if you use mostly off road (really open), the nexx wed 2 in fiber (not carbon) is heavier but more a good size in XL in my head the comfort is really good soft touch inside compare to the airoh, it is very similar to a full face road helmet, the feeling in static is really nice . Also the screen seems to be more clear in the Nexx, sun visor need to be tested longer to know if it's enough longer. The interior quality of the nexx feels premium really softtouch and good to touch. Also the airo miss ventilation on the top only two small holes.
Thank you for a nice review! The XD1 was my main helmet for a very long time. Had to ditch it once the padding started to come off with my head when removing the helmet. Now I've had the AGV AX9 for two years and I'm not a fan. It's not a bad helmet, but for what I paid I expected it to be way more premium. But the fit just isn't the same. So now I'm looking at the Nexx again. And I'm hoping to be able to afford the Vaal Carbon X.Wed 2 helmet just for the weight-saving. Never had a problem with weight, but just wondering, what if a helmet didn't weigh a ton.. (Mind you I am well aware me sticking gopros, communicatiors and mohawks really isn't helping :D ).
Hello. Really great review. Just a question what type of bike you ride? And i really like the helmet and tried it out... its amazing but, i do ride a Rnine t scrambler, whats your thoughts on the nexx xwed 2 on a fairly naked bike, tho i have a screen? Thank you very much
Solid review. I'll take a look and consider it. Looks like a less expensive alternative than the Kilm Krios or Araito to the Bell X-9, which is fine for the money. I'd only want something better for the little bits I'm around cars and the increased potential of leaving brains scrambled in the bucket. I like the layered shell of the Nexx for that reason. I don't feel unsafe off-road in almost any modern helmet. (Back in the 70's, I had a helmet that was a damned cement block and felt more than unsafe to wear lol)
Hi, just a quick question. Looking for a new helmet, in your opinion is the Arai Tour worth the extra money over the Nexx xwed ? Great channel, keep up the good work. 😁👍👍 Cheers Steve
It depends on what feature ls you want, for example if you ‘must’ have a drop down visor, it’ll have to be the Nexx. (Personally I see little point on a peaked helmet). It’s then down to fit, so if the Arai fits properly it would my choice. Having said that the Nexx is a great helmet for its price.!
Steams up very easily, Pinloc RPITAS to fit, visor does not stay in a cracked open position at all well, lift for visor on front interferes with wiping away moisture in the rain, not noticed any buffeting though!
Great review as always! I’m running an xd1, any idea if the new xwed 2 internal / removable padding is compatible with the xd1? I’d like to replace / upgrade my padding system as the rest of the helmet is still perfect.
Krzysztof Dąbrowski Thanks, well that depends on what type of helmet you prefer....some people don’t like modular helmets. If I get a chance to try one out then I’ll upload a review
A question, how would you compare the quietness of this helmet to the Arai XD4? I bought an XD4 last year and your review was quite helpful then. I have no regrets with the XD helmet but always chasing the next best thing. Thanks!
Hard to say really, they are both pretty good. This has less wind noise on my tiger than the Arai, but the peak adds some noise where the Arai doesn't. The only issue I have with the Arai is theres just not quite enough 'face room' in it. Mine fogs up at the slightest hint of moisture, but the fit on my skull is great
Firstly, this helmet has a few more features than the Arai such as the interchangeabe mounts and of course the drop down visor. But, for me a peaked visor really negates the need for the drop down visor, the biggest use of the peak is shielding the sun. Obviously, it doesent help with low sun stright in your face, but I can live with that. This is roomier in the chin bar than the Arai, which is a bonus but they both have quite narrow openings so are require a bit of a pull on and off. The difference in the price might be all that matters for some, for me its the fit. I'm still searching for my perfect adventure style helmet....
Wind noise is dependent on a lot of factors specific to the rider, so that needs to be factored in. For me the Arai was the most quiet, followed by the AGV then the Nexx. It’s much the same for airflow, although the AGV was very close to the Arai. The eyebrow vents make a bike difference
I know that the Arai Tour-X4 is on another pricelevel etc. but how do you compare these to eachother? I am looking to get my first adv helmet and noise/buffeting is something I'd rather skip.. But price is even more important since I'm not stacked with cash..
The key is of course how well it fits, noise and buffeting will be amplified if the helmet doesn’t fit properly, so for me overall comfort is the most important. The Arai is better made in my opinion, no cheap feeling plastics and it’s much easier to custom fit. Arai have the peel off layers in the cheek pads and complete liners in different thicknesses are available. The Nexx is popular, but it just didn’t fit me as well as the Arai.
For me not really, I think I preferred the AX9 as an overall helmet but the Nexx has some good features. They are quite different fits, so it would come down to which one fits the best I would say
Can anyone tell me what it's like wearing spectacles? Does it happen to have the cutouts for glasses, or not? Anyone got any experience with that? Thanks.
It is so useful it is to be able to look back at consistent reviews, thank you.
You're very welcome!
The peak on my helmet vibrated at high speeds too so i glued a 50 cent piece to the underside and it stopped !!

Views from the Man Cave thanks great input! I will check the nexx modular as well then, it is just not as advertised here in the states!
Well done. Would love to hear a review on the modular version, too.
Ditto, hopefully if this video does well, Nexx will loan me one to try too

It does look the part from the images I’ve seen....
Another great review 👏 is it possible to fitt cardo packtalk over existing Bluetooth mount?
Thanks, there is quite a bit of space on the side of the helmet to fit something next to the mount

Do you think it would take a card pac talk without using the sticky clip ? Hate doing that to my helmets.
I’m not that familiar with how the Cardo Systems mount, but there is room to fit a sena bolt in clamp, so I think it would be OK

The peak is removeable, as you can see at 02:22 in the video
#Man Cave Moto Between the AGV AX9 Carbon and this he;met Nexx X.WED 2 Carbon which one one would you recommend ?

It can yes. The chin vent does both depending on how you adjust the inner closure
