    This helmet does have passive rear vents, they are built into those small posts on the spoilers. One side of each post is notched out, and the post is hollow into the helmet.

    Some have asked about the exhaust venting and after purchasing mine I found that it does in fact have. They are located on the outer/under side of the spoiler. Love the liner and you can see the hole in the foam and it does pass all the way out.

    Nice video. I've been using the helmet for the last 4 months. It's a good helmet for the money. I'd like to add that although the helmet is sharktooth ready you can fit other bluetooth systems as well. I've also removed the visor in order to install a pinlock (the visor is pinlock ready). Regarding the visor removal I've just followed the manual instructions and it was pretty easy. The vents are OK and the sun visor in a welcome addition. Hope this helps.

    Have this same helmet, color and all. Love it. The crown of the helmet is almost white now from a few years of UV Sun Rays. Wish it was a little lighter. It's not the heaviest but not the lightest either. The pin lock is great. I've never removed it to clean in between the pin lock and visor and it still keep the visor 100% fog free in all conditions. But I will say the drop down sun shade will fog up very easy but there are things you can do it eliminate about 90% of that , you just have to do it about once every other month. But usually win you have conditions that will cause your visor to fog up you usually don't have the sun in your eyes anyways.

    Came from an aria quantum 2 to this thing I thought I loved my arai till I put this thing through it's paces. Wow internal sun visor is amazing flow on any of my bikes is good and in cooler weather I am closing vents which I never did with my arai the chimney vent freezes the top of my head. Sun visor comes down very far so you have complete coverage. Very light had it over 140 and it's very stable or cruising on my old beamer this helmet is hard to beat.

    I have the Shark spartan. They are a nice looking helmet with aggressive styling. Noise is ok with ear plugs. The front curtain doesn’t do much at all. The clips on the visor are prone to breaking, they are not cheap to replace either. Would I recommend this helmet? Yes with a vote of 65% approval. I’m now looking at buying the Shoei GT Air as my next helmet. Cheers

    I have the carbon version of this helmet, its so fucking light, you dont even feel you are wearing helmet, and I'm not exaggerating. And I'm commuting to and from work 25km each way, takes about 45mins-1hr depending on traffic. on the loud side, but not extremely loud and I suggest to use an earplug. For ventilation, the helmet is adequately cool during summer time. And the pinlock system included with this helmet is awesome during cold night/morning, it dramatically reduces fogging, but now my glasses is fogging up.. anyway, recommended this helmet for versatility and much more affordable prices than Shoe GT-Air without compromising on build quality.

      Maarten B, hey bro. I did test out some shoei GT air, although it was just in shop for like 5minutes on my head. It feels light, because if you do research it almost has the same weight albeit heavier just few grams than spartan carbon. it has got some features that spartan carbon does not have such as emergency cheek pads removal, if you are worried about that. I cannot test noise level compare to spartan carbon tho. For spartan carbon, it feels really light, and way cheaper compare to gt air, I bought mine when they are on special with 10% discount, so I saved roughly $70 AUD. It makes the price gap with gt air even further which $300+. I rode my bike early in the morning during winter and not once the screen fogging up, except my glasses fogging up especially when stop at red light. It has only 2 vents, from the top and front only, no features where you crack the shield open little bit like in some other helmet for city riding, but so far I dont have any complains even ride in summer time like now. Great fit for my new Cardo freecom1, surprisingly sound better with earplug. Spartan has 5 years warranty here in AU. So in terms of dollar value, spartan is the winner here, crazy light on your head with cheaper price and has decent quality. My advice is try both helmets first which one is more suitable for your head, then if both is good try weigh the advantage and disadvantage.

    • @TheGillederais
      @TheGillederais 6 років тому

      what is average helmet weight? spartan carbon only 1290g, average maybe 1500g+? then for me personally it does makes a big difference, because I use my bike for commute. 5 days a week, spend 2-2.5hrs depending on traffic. I do have k3 AGV helmet, i think weigh around between 1500g-1600g and i can feel the weight on my head after like 20mins riding.

    You guys should have a closer look at those spoilers, because Shark on their page claims it has passive vents there: ""1- Double spoiler with incorporated air extractors: optimization of the aerodynamic trail and internal cooling". Would appreciate a closer inspection to see if indeed that is the case :)
    Some comments after watching the vid and comparing to the Speed-R:
    - I don't like the visor now has detents... I like the fact that I can set my Speed-R visor in any position and it just stays there, including just barely unlocking it, or not locking it fully, to let some air in through the crack. ALTHOUGH they've finally got rid of the stupid metal pin that locks the visor, that shit is impossible to open if you don't have a method worked out.
    - moving the sun visor slider to the center and back seems like a worse position. I like to have my Drift camera at the top, so with this helmet it probably won't be possible. Also you'll have to reach further with your hand. I've been thinking about a GoPro and chin mount switch, and this helmet has a lot of chin space and maybe even the vent will be accessible, so there's that.
    - still no emergency cheek pad removal system, sigh
    - bit worried about the visor prongs snapping as in SKWAL helmets and those visors are not cheap
    - I've seen some comments that the rear spoilers cause noise
    - my Speed-R is still in very good shape after 3 seasons and I see no reason to replace it...

    Had an xr-1000 shoei before i bought the spartan carbon and The spartan is a better helmet all over. 2 things annoys me though, theres a whistling noice coming from the top air intake and i would never dream of using it without earplugs, its a noicy helmet. Do i recommend it? Sure, its a good, pretty light helmet that ive used a couple of years and will continue to use a couple more.

      I have the Shark Skwal with the exact same visor.
      It's an absolutely idiotic design. There's no point making it easy to take out when you're going to be breaking the damn thing all the time.
      There's an internal sun visor too so it's not like you need to take it out often to switch to a tinted visor. But every time I've gone to try and remove it to clean, it snaps.
      The first time mine broke I paid about $100 for a replacement online, but every subsequent time I just went into the shop and had it replaced through warranty. Probably on my 5th visor now, I've lost count.
      Thank god for the 5 year warranty, otherwise I'd be out a lot of money.

    This is one of two helmets on my list. Tough deciding between the Spartan or the Nolan N87. Both have very similar features. Both are leagues above my current HJC CL-17. Any input between choosing the Spartan or N87 would be appreciated. I'm leaning more towards the N87 right now, would love to see a video of that from Revzilla.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 років тому +1

      The Spartan offers a nicer fiberglass composite shell construction, while the N87 uses a more affordable polycarbonate shell construction. Otherwise, features are very similar. Both have internal sun visors and have Pinlock anti-fog lens inserts included in the box. The N87 is almost $100 less, so it's probably the better value. -DrewZilla

      I'm not sure that rating is available yet, but Shark helmets typically fare very well - usually in the 4 or 5 star range. -TeamZilla Chris

    Is that the Cliff or the Skin?

      Neither, it's the regular fiberglass composite Spartan (not the Carbon) in the Karken graphic. -DrewZilla

    This helmet vs the shoei x 14? In terms of overall comfort & long distance rides?

    • @RevZilla

      Two totally different beasts, but surprisingly I would recommend the Shark over the Shoei for what you are describing. The Shoei X-14 is their flagship track model. It is made for aerodynamics above all. In my experience, this makes it rather loud and potentially uncomfortable depending on your head shape. The Spartan helmet really surprised us in how stable and quiet it is at speed. -TeamZilla Chris

    Pretty disappointed. Fits fine but aerodynamics not very good. Very noisy. My AGV K3 is much better except K3 has a vision problem if any of you have noticed.

    no ECE rating, no rear vents, ugly visor control... I guess it's not expensive. It would be cool to see Shark competing more on the level of the Shoei GT-Air
