Still seems to be a lot of garages that are reluctant to take on these timing belt changes. I believe main dealers are charging about 15 to 1700 pounds for the work. It’s great to see independent garages like yours that are prepared to take on this work.👍

in the Netherlands the dealer asks € 2.200 without new waterpump for it, a Ford subdealer asks € 1.600 without waterpump and I found a Bosch garage that did it for € 1.095, including a new waterpump all OEM parts. And this shop did it great.

Usually £1400+VAT in UK so close to 2 grand practically, although I’ve done my own on my C-Max back in June 2022 & a week of my life dedicated to it as took my time (first time btw) I still enjoy Baz’z vids as it constantly jogs my memory till I next change it in a few years time or at least 7-8 years since it was change with mileage increase permitting, but oil gets changed every few thousand to keep the belts in tip top condition etc . ( BTW do not flush wet belt systems as the flushing oil will be absorbed by the wet belt as it is not designed for flushing oil , only it’s 5W/20 oil) Baz obviously knows this of course , I mean he’s been doing this for a very long time . Keep em coming Baz 😎😎

The teeth had started to sheer off the belt!

I did one of these engines timing belt at 98,000 miles and the belt was in reasonably good condition. I think it probably could have gone another 50,000 miles 🤔

Iam thinking the fuel we use plays a part in the wet belts breaking down (E10 ) as this stuff rots rubber and when it's burnt some by products of this ends up in the oil and be worse if oil changes neglected the oil itself will probably do this but what about the ethanol content mixed with the fuel wonder if this has a part in the problem

Hi, have you done many defective catalytic converters on these engines? I have a 2013 125hp version of this engine in a CMAX. Wetbelt was done last year at a Ford dealership. I am having the check engine light coming on every now and then for a P0420, but sometimes it turns off on its own or after a while I have deleted it myself. There seem to be no other issues so far (power, consumption) or any other codes coming on. With the way its built, its difficult to check the CC itself right? I was quoted 1300€ for a new OEM one, but still holding off on doing the repair. Any long term negative effects for the engine with not changing it soon? Would be glad to hear it or see a video on it, thanks!

Out of interest Baz have you used any aftermarket kits for this wet belt? When I did a wet belt on my wife's 208 is used a PSA kit just to be sure.

was just having a think when i saw you with your piece of cardboard for the timming cover bolts. do you think it would pay for someone to produce some sort of plastic type board with holes in it to store the bolts instead of using cardboard all the time. something like a screwdriver holder but bigger and with various size holes for all size bolts. dont know if its a silly idea or wether a lot of mechanics would be interested in something like that.

if you own one, be sure to use the right oil ( with Ford C948 spec) and change minimal once a year. If you recently purchased one, just invest some money and get it changed

Is this wet belt the stupidest idea Ford had ever ?????? Got the wife an Ecosport a few years ago the 140 version, fantastic little car but got rid at 29k miles before e got any issues with this belt. Shame, Ford ruined a very good little motor because of this issue and I had no confidence in the car after 29k.
