There is an issue with the major distribution centre indeed! Our local branch has had countless trouble with parts. Believe it’s something to do with asbestos. Won’t be operational until at least next according to our local branch’s parts manager.
I watch all the ecoboost wetbelt change videos, but still hoping to see an automatic gearbox 1.0 litre as the balance shaft set up is the reason for the recall in.the USA with the tensioner failing resulting in all teeth shearing off the oil pump belt.
Omg Baz.. I just watched the Grand Tour before watching this... I mean immediately before watching this. I was still teary-eyed when u asked who watched it.
A week after changing the timing belt, my son went on a 300 mile round trip. When he pulled into the drive I noticed white whispy smoke coming out of the exhaust. It now puffs smoke when you prod the accelerator. I fear the head gasket has blown. I did vacuum fill the coolant but perhaps there was an air pocket. Have ordered a test kit to check the coolant. Options from here are 1)leak stop additive, 2) replace head gasket, 3)have engine replaced, 4)scrap car. Sorry I didn't advise him just to sell the car instead of replacing the belt.
He is me, and yes, water pump was changed. I contacted an engine rebuild specialist today. He said that they are known for developing cracks in the head. Was sceptical that changing the timing belt brought it on, and it may just be an unfortunate coincidence. Coolant consumption seems to be negligible so far. Will test the coolant for contamination and will keep an eye on it before deciding what to do.
"Scottish Car Clan" channel say Ford say they will be releasing new parts which fix this problem long term in 2025, will be interesting to see what these new parts are
I was quoted £3000 for this job at my local Ford dealership!!! Parts are about £350 so roughly £300 an hour. Needless to say they aren't getting my business!
I must admit , when I did mine on my 2014 C-Max in June 2022 (weather was sunny all week as did it outside on my drive) I used red sealant & it oozed out the sides all round after refitting covers inc’ the sump but I didn’t care because if any oil was leaking , I would see it , but up to present , nothing has leaked out & the sealant has gone a bit brown so not that noticeable now , stressful task if you not done it before but at least I have all the tools to do it again next time . The main Ford parts warehouse in Tamworth burnt down not long ago , & my local Ford dealer had to source parts from elsewhere in the country (parts for other jobs long since my belts was changed) but got them eventually. Hence it cost me about £600 to replace my wet belts all in all for part’s & special tools which some were sourced from USA & Germany .
I work in ford parts And yes parts availability is crazy at the moment with what's happening at Daventry every ford dealer up and down country is struggling for parts
@@Daveys-Garage yes that's true there doing a clean up operation with hundreds of people in day and through the night but haven't really said when it will be fully back up and running I think it will be months
@@olliesengineworld i had a new engine and bits booked for 3rd sept 16 hour job. got the call 3rd to say the above. the parts are coming from germany now but its pushed the fit back by at least a month and no courtesy cars😞
So Ford have changed the design to a chain drive on these on the later ones BUT still has a wet belt for the oil pump drive haha.Still taking a chance.
Very important detail to ask for in case of a damaged oil pump belt. Is the car in question an automatic? Seems that belt tensioner plus balancing shaft equals belt issues
Fundamently speaking I just would not want a 1.0 engine even with a turbo in my car. Ok for the smallest of cars 1.0T and under Toyota Aigo or Peugeot 108. Thoughts on the 1.5T ecoboost in the 2012-2018 region Baz? Are they better, the same or worse than the 1.0? Thumbs up as always. Well done for getting huge support from Launch UK it can't be easy.
Great video 👍 You work on these engines a lot can you tell me if it’s normal on a cold start (1st start of day being sat overnight) for the engine oil light to stay on for 1-2 seconds after starting, all other starts during the day it goes out instantly
Baz seen you at launch with Jimmy mobile mechanic do you get the drinks 🍸 in right baz my Friend as a ford focus 1.0 eco boost is the wet belt the cambelt 😊
@@lesnorris nobody can tell it's recommended at roughly 100k, but going off how it's serviced ect, I've seen them needing replacement as little as 45k, normally you get oil light staying on longer than normal or a hard brake pedal as the fibers off the belt block the vacuum pump ect
Your customers don't ask you to record the work. I have mine, clean my tools, give me the torque settings and make the tea.. You need to move out the country..🔧
Nice one again Baz, down to the wire this time, thanks to you we've got a great library of wet belt videos to reference.
That Pichler is one of the most trick tools I've ever seen!
Why would any manufacturer make a service item so complicated to change having said that you do a very good job of it entertaining as usual thank you
All of this just to change a belt, and what a stupid idea to put it inside the engine anyway
It's no use still in the box.

I guess they overpriced because they didn,t want to do it.

Yes mate it is correct we waiting 2weeks for loads from ford I got 4 transit wet belts and 1 focus waiting to be done
Cause one of there warehouses has been shut cause they found asbestos
This puts me off ford but 1.2 fiesta has old dry belt system 😊which may be better option

I bet Baz has. But it pays the bills. He has to do them, we don't have watch.

Great video as always baz, a question for you about the torque multiplying tool, is there 2 different torques, ie using the tool vs not using one,
You need the torque multiplier to do the final stages of the degrees without it's impossible to do it correctly
cracking! 🤟
Dry cambelt any day I refuse point blank to get a wet belt engine end of

Great content as always. Do the chains on the mk2 1.8 2.0 Focus petrol fail, have you done one?
Not done one as of yet
Have you ever done a Mk8 always seems to be the Mk7 you do ?
Not had many enquiries about them tbh
