    Boy, how I wish I could write lessons plans in that type of format. That is the kind of lesson plan book that I used years ago, but for a lot of years now my schools have required a very detailed on-line template to be completed for each subject. This afternoon -- it's Sunday -- I just came back from spending hours in my classroom typing lesson plans for this second week of the school year. I know lesson plans are important and I love planning what I'm going to teach, but I don't think they should take so much time that it takes away from other preparations for instruction. I really like the clear and concise way you have written your lessons. They are complete, easy to follow at a glance, and so pretty!

    Your videos got me hyper ecstatic about planning and especially creating my calendar for the next semester. I am still going to uni so there won't be any lesson planning and stuff like that, more of common study organization, library deadlines, exams etc. The Erin Condren products are very inspirational. Can't wait to be a teacher! I want to start right now.

      Unicorny I have already been thinking and planning for next year, selecting the books I want to use for my Daily 5 focus lessons. Once you become a teacher your brain never shuts off. But you have to make sure to write down in your planner those moments of inspiration or you forget them and then drive yourself crazy trying to remember what you wanted to do.

    OMG! This is exactly what I have been looking for (college student, here). I wish I could buy this in digital form and print it out in black and white so I can color and washing tape to my heart's content! lol

    I'm glad I watch this video. I bought the Erin Condron planner and I really haven't used it. I see there are so many useful pages; I didn't even notice that they were there. Thank you for all of the help. I'm going to be watching your Daily 5 videos. I've been teaching for 14 years and have never done Daily 5 - I have a lot to learn. Thanks!

      +Theresa Winslow Daily 5 changed my life when it came to the teaching of reading and writing. It's so easy and yet so effective. Like nothing I have ever done before.

      I hope so. On top of that I still have to teach the daily literacy lesson from Engage NY, plus conduct guided reading all while being observed 3-4 times a month. I'm finding teaching to be really tough right now. I too have a great deal of second language I learners. Word work is probably my toughest to figure out where to pull the information so I don't have to create. Thanks for your videos, they've bright new sine happiness this break.

    Thank you! I loved that you keep it simple in your lesson plan book but include: learning target, strategy, and assessment. I'm a new teacher and I feel like I'm always getting a ton of information thrown at me, but this was helpful. Thanks :)

    Thank you for this video! I received my elementary certification through an alternative program. I learned a lot but sometimes the basics can be overlooked. Mapping out the day and putting it in a planner was on thing the program didn't focus on. Very helpful indeed!! I will order this planner asap :)

    Hi! I love your videos!
    2 questions:
    1. Do you make photocopies of the EC lesson plan pages? Is that because there isn't enough pages in the actual planner?
    2. Do you know where you got that polka dot washi tape you used for the dismissal portion of the day?

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  8 років тому +1

      +Nicole Abon I made photo copies because I had purchased the planner for the new school year but there was still a month left of the current school year and I was DYING to use the new planner, so that's why the copies. Didn't want to ruin a new planner for just four weeks.The polka dot washi could have come from Target, Michaels, or even on line from an Etsy shop. I own so many rolls I really can't remember where it came from. I have a washi addiction.

    Love the idea and concept. How can I get the pages without ordering the book? Spell the name of the tape you used to separate pages please. Yes I am interested in sub plans. Thanks!

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  9 років тому +1

      Lynne Evans Honestly, you really can't get the pages without ordering the book. Plus, at Staples, when I printed the color copies, it cost a bloody fortune. To make a years worth of copies of the book would probably cost you more than just buying the book, especially if you want copies of the calendar pages, the missing student pages and the checklist ones at the back. Here is a code to save $10 off your first purchase. Hope it helps. Also the tape is called Washi Tape. I get mine at Michaels, Staples, or Target.

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  9 років тому +1

      Carisa Risa Hi! The stickers came from Michaels. Because Michaels has such a huge scrapbooking section they have the most amazing stickers that I use for both my life planner and my teacher planner. My washi tapes come from Michaels, Target, and Staples. All three stores share the same parking lot by me so luckily I have my choice of planning goodies!

    Hi! I just love your videos! I have a question for you. I will be starting as a teaching assistant as a graduate student in the fall. I will be teaching my own college level class, academic writing. I want to make sure I stay organized and carefully think through the material I cover. Do you think this planner would work for me as well? Thank you for your time! 😊

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  9 років тому +2

      Leah Hi, thanks for watching. If you are only teaching one or two courses a semester I would say this planner would work fine because you could use the left side for one course and the right side for the second course. I know teaching a college course would probably require more detailed lessons than what is required for an elementary school teacher.
      But the planner has room for plans, grades, attendance, a full calendar, and even a page for recording your various passwords for the many websites required for teaching. If you want check out my other video on the Erin Condren Planner here @6 to see the many features of the planner.

    Great video, I would love to do something like this, but my district makes us use a template on Google Drive so they can check ours and see that it's how they want them. Plus, have you lost weight? I am watching these let videos and you look slimmer in your new videos 😊

  • @Oneness01

    Hello! I have a question. Do you submit your lesson plans to the school? I know I will have to do that in the new school (haven't done it for a long time) and not sure if they can be simple as the ones you are showing or elaborate like when they want you to submit when they are doing formal observations. What do you think? Thank you :)

    • @tinabietler
      @tinabietler  9 років тому +2

      I have to turn my plans in every week. I use an app called Cam Scan to photograph each page if my plans and then email the photos to my principal. He is responsible for saving all the scanned documents and then submitting them to where it is he turns then in to.
