Today I'm making the iconic mask of Corvo Attano from the Dishonored games. I chose the design from Dishonored 2 because it's very angular with visible welding, so I could try out my new TIG welder. Hope you enjoy!

The view from the bottom of the water was a very cool idea
Why did you first clean it up, made it shiny and then turned it black again
Sometimes though it was hard to see what you did exactly with the mask, since it's very dark, as are the sorroundings.

I thought it might give a nice two tone effect because the oxides close to the welds stayed on. Ended up not doing much in the end 😄
Yeah, I was thinking it might be better than blown out welding footage. It looked okay on my PC while editing but I guess I should review it on other devices next time. Seems like many people thought it was too dark
As far as I know this could result from YT compresson, the darker the video the harder it gets compressed because the informtion is deemed unimportant - iirc this was quite a problem espeacially in the early days of youtube where horror games got compressed to such an extend that it was hard to discern anything - that however might not be the most up to date info about YT compression
Also the reflections dont do any favours since the lighting makes it bright in some spots but not in others

I've seen a few craftsman who have used lack of experience as the advantage to create something crazy cool! Now they are famous because they create unique style!
Love the idea of learning by doing something instead of stupid exercise! this is the best way to learn in my opinion!
I love the final result! I could hand this mask on the wall as a sculpture- definitely more cool than the Van Gogh
Thank you Dawid! And i totally agree. A friend helped me set up the machine and told me the basics and said that they used to run these straight weld lines for days to learn the machine and I got bored out of my mind after the first day 😄
@@NjordArtisan I totally understand you get bored. There is nothing fun with exercises that end without some visible result. Great idea to combine fun with practice!

I think you should try and dome the forehead of the mask a little more, though- right now it looks like a BMX helmet more than a skull on top.

Ja das ist mir im Nachhinein auch aufgefallen. Wollte nicht, dass das Schweißen nur blendet, hätte dann aber in anderen Parts wieder heller machen können.
Hab sie grad gewogen und es sind sogar 1463g 😄

Ich wollte quasi die Halterung von meiner Atemschutzmaske aus Leder nachbauen. Die ist eigentlich ziemlich bequem bei dem Gewicht 👌
What is happening in any of these sequences? I can’t tell because all the camera picks up are dark shadows on dark materials in a dark room. Did you honestly think that filming in a room dark enough to obscure the process would make for good viewing?
I was welding for 80% of this project. Would you rather see a video where everything is just blown out white? 😅
