- In this step-by-step tutorial, learn how to properly play video and audio in Microsoft Teams meetings. Oftentimes, when you play video or music, your audience is unable to hear. I'll show you how to play system sound. I'll also show which sharing modes support computer sound and which ones don't. Lastly, I also show how to incorporate a video or music into your PowerPoint presentation, so you don't need to switch context. Your audience will be able to watch the video or listen to the audio directly from your presentation while you present in a Teams meeting.

I had to learn this by making that exact mistake. I’m still not that comfortable so I usually have two devices logged in so I can double check to make sure sound is being shared.
I didn’t know about embedding the video in a PowerPoint. I always learn something new watching your videos! Thank again Kevin!
@Kevin, if you start sharing your content without switching include system audio On, you can still enable the system audio sound by moving the cursor to the top center screen, you'll see a drop-down or slide-down screen will appear on the top. Simply select the system audio icon (in the center, I know it doesn't even look like sound icon) to enable the sound. If you do not see the option on there, you may not have the latest version of Teams. I hope this helps some of you with your Teams meetings.

Agreed. A lot of people make that mistake when presenting video. 2:17 Being using Teams for a while never knew you can't play sound in a PPT directly. Also liked the background and the fonts used in the thumbnail. Kevin is my favorite teacher because he is a great presenter. Learnt so many things I never heard before. Enjoyed this video so much and could you please do a video of Pinnacle Studio.

Your Teams Administrator can grant you access to those features (if your organisation allows it).

Can’t it be on as default if the user checks this in some general settings. It is so easy to forget to do it while presenting... not very user friendly in my opinion...

Thanks! Zoom has an “optimise video sharing” does Teams have an equivalent? Is zoom therefore smoother than Teams for video sharing?
Currently not, although I found during testing that the video played back smoothly despite not having a dedicated setting.

Hey!.. Kevin Will Help me providing a Windows 10Pro OEM/MAK KEY... MY JUNIOR MADE MY OS READY FOR ME and He may have used wrong key on wrong version and May be used Rufus and installed Endless OS On my machine. But from the first time my system showed Windows 10pro is activated using your organization server.. And finally it showing activate windows.. Want to activate it.. Asking as a physically disabled Man.. Reply ASAP.
Most computers these days come licenced for Windows, you could ask your computer manufacturer. Even if you bought it second hand, it should still be licensed.
Is there a way to make a Forms poll available to respondents only for a specific time e.g. one hour?

I sometimes wonder if it would make more sense to have this on by default?
The only downside is that all system sounds would come through, like email dings, Teams messages, etc. Agree though - the default should align with what most people do so you don't have to remember to hit a toggle each time if you want system sound to play through.
Love your channel. I support a group of virtual training specialists that have recently had some challenges with sound from Stream. We moved their videos to SPO, and then eventually just embedder into PowerPoint. They still have sound challenges. We have recommended to always share desktop and system sound to combat it, but does anyone else have any tips/tricks? We are now testing to ensure they are always sharing the desktop as it seems PowerPoint and the embedded videos don't share sound when shared from a Window.
We have a lot of teams meetings with 200+ attendees and have never gotten a smooth experience with playing videos in a large meeting. Lagging and audio sync issues. Wired connection with 400mbit doesn’t matter. Tested with sharing screen/window or PowerPoint.
Works a little better with small meetings.
You might be getting close to the recommended meeting size limit. Have you tried with Live Events instead?
@@Hortster We use Live Events for meetings with 300-400+ attendees and it works better with video because of the buffer and optimization. But we need the interaction that Teams meetings provide. Would love to have a decent video experience in a Teams meeting at least.

Thanks - the only problem is that the video is playing in a small window and the resolution is useless when you scale it up. Probably better to share the video form the UA-cam page directly

Wonderful explanation! I'd like to know if there's any special configuration for audio when someone is a musician and wants to sing during the meeting. In Zoom we have some resources that improve audio for music. Does Teams has it?

This is a carry over from Skype where you couldn't play audio or embedded video in a PowerPoint during a presentation. At least you have some options and now that Microsoft added the option to turn on system audio in the three dots menu , you don't have to unshare and share your screen again.
Hi Kevin, I wonder if you can advise me how to broadcast music and live speech a the same time. The situation is an online Dance Class, when the instructor plays music at the background and giving instructions at the same time. The mixture of the music and the speech is unbearable noisy. Both of them are lost, only some space noise is heard. Do you have any advise for me how to solve this?

Is there a way to play "Intro" sounds as you sign into your meeting? I'd love to have a little fun with my Coworkers and have them hear intro music start as im signing into the meeting kind of like a wrestler.

Any ideas on how to do a Live Events "Panel Discussion"? Live Events as is, is limited to 1 presenter or presentation being seen at 1 time, would be amazing to be able to use Live Events for a panel discussion.
You can use OBS + OBS Ninja and Teams Live Events. I'll pull together a video. You can support panels with any number of video participants.
How does this relate if you're NOT the host?

I see where he says that the Sound will only play from the Desktop or Window views...but what about if you use the Browse function and upload your Powerpoint? Will sound play using the browse function?
I am having an issue where my videos won't play when started by the presenter during a PowerPoint Live presentation. Instead participants must start the video themselves, each will therefore watch it individually, which is not ideal. We've tried looking through all of the meeting settings, tried videos embedded by link, embed code (from both UA-cam and Microsoft Stream) and inserted the MP4 directly into the slide yet none of it seems to have the desired effect. All is fine however when playing the video using the usual "share screen" presenter mode. Do you know if there is possibly a way to correct this issue?
When I share a video in Teams my audience can hear very well however, the video itself doesn't run fluently. What is the problem?

What did you use/do to record this video on how to apply audio to your video. Also I followed the steps but then found I had to disconnect my earphones for the guest to hear the video.
For those of us using Teams as we teach a hybrid class, any tips on getting sound BOTH on Teams and in the physical classroom? I need my external speakers for my in-person students, but the computer audio for my online students, right?
Mute the mic and play the video. Computer sound will come through your speakers and to your virtual audience. Cheers!
Might be a dumb question to ask but when I toggle the computer sound, does my microphone sound get muted automatically? Can I speak through microphone as normal while a video is playing?
Hi Kevin. I have a question. I am a performer and I have been performing on Zoom for the past 2 years. It basically allows me to do everything I need to do in my very interactive presentation. That includes playing background music, sound effects and videos. I have some clients who would like to have my show presented to their company on TEAMS. Unfortunately I find it very difficult to find the correct solutions to have the music sound good on TEAMS... especially as background music. Everytime someone speaks, it seems to muffle or mute the music which interferes with the feel of the routine that I am performing with them. (I am a magician). I have turned off the noise-surpression off which helps from my location, but when someone else speaks it mutes the music for everyone. When I look for solutions on youtube I often find that the icons that they show to activate do not exist in my TEAMS window like the little musical note. I can't seem to be able to talk to anyone at microsoft for any kind of teck-support. Is there a solution for our various issues or is TEAMS simply not really designed to do what we want to do?

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dxgi.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f.

Topic Request: (For Microsoft 360 & non-business/non-student account) How to use Outlook People as my one-and-only contact list for texting and phone calls and email. I found a beta feature that barely worked. I had to repeatedly sync my Google contacts with Outlook People. Bidirectional syncing was impossible. Ended up abandoning Outlook for Gmail app.

What about system sounds? If I turn this in will the audience hear all the sound from other programs? Such as email alerts or teams message alerts? Can it be limited to hearing only the sound from the PowerPoint?
All sounds will come through by default. There’s an advanced mixer in windows 10 where you can define what sounds come through, but that’s probably a topic for another video.
As a music teacher, I find it very frustrating to have to share the screen so the kids can hear computer sound. Is there a way of Microsoft to allow us to focus the resources on audio when needed ? And in STEREO, please !!
