Correction: A6 is expensive only with its base model. If you want to go for high end, A6 is cheapest. I did same comparison and bought 2020 A6 against E450 and 540i. All 3 are equally good but the sporty look and dashboard design was terrific in A6. Sound system was great in all 3. I tested my fav track in all 3 music system and Audi had best sub woofer, BMW had best rear woofer. Mercedes audio system is still a question mark to me. Wasn’t bad but definitely wasn’t great too.! Mileage, if all depends on who the driver is. My 19.2 gallon A6 covered a total 590 miles which I tested from Philadelphia to Atlanta at highways. Inside city, couldn’t judge. Didn’t get a chance to test mileage with rest of 2 cars. If you’re a sound lover, a6 engine have sport sound in dynamic drive mode and mild soft sound in comfort mode. That’s why I took a6 ahead of other 2 cars.
For such vehicles in this category, you should include interior design and quality of materials....the Audi wins these hands down with new and modern best in class interior design and technology included in price. Weigh on bmw is lower due to increased use of plastic versus higher quality metal parts. Range is most important comparison in this and across midsize and Audi would win this as well.....just trying to be objective from a current and former owner of all these brands
I think with options added, the Bmw comes more pricier than both Audi and merc. Design wise , the Audi looks like a box . Mercedes has the prestige and comfort . And the bmw is undoubtedly the best driving experience.

A beautiful A6 with about 18k miles on it is my new daily driver. Love the infotainment, the virtual cockpit and all kind of electronic gizmos.

I'd still take the Audi A6. Because buying this cars, at this price point, is not about practicality. It's about what you want.

I don´t know for which market this review made but in Europe Audi has 4 cylinder motor in the 40 trim and 6 cylinder in 45 and above
